your boring white knights with a pacifist leader who can do no wrong you will never be a interesting faction as long as that remains true
Nobody wants those ugly, untransmogable snakes
It is easy I also can say Horde are boring. Always fighting each other but it is really unreasonable fight it is like they forced to fight lol.
Respect and Honor but I don’t have both lol if they allowed the orc to complete his phrase.
On the top of my head:
-
remove mercenary mode: it makes rolling horde “cost free” for pvp. Horde should be punished like on Classic to roll on the best faction. Want to pvp but can’t wait 1h to get into bg? Roll alliance or quit => less horde.
-
make broken good alliance racials.
-
stop making alliance the victim lorewise and make them interesting and more multi dimensional and less of a bland “good guys” faction. Develop Genn / Worgen to go do major aggression on the horde / forsaken in silverpine etc. Make the lightforge into crazy fanatics doing purges. Make gnomes destroy stuff with tech like goblins. Turn in void elf into power hungry on the verge to corruption elves. Get rid of Anduin etc.
Or we don’t do any of this rubbish and Blizzard leaves the Horde Elves alone.
You want better alliance elves…well void elves can move to Zin-Azshari, being Highborne descendents and the city being infused by void creatures for over 10,000 years and night elves move to Hyjal, as they are doing.
If they remove mercenary i would join Alliance i even thinking to do it anyway,as Merc i win most of epic bg’s.
I love my Blood Elf that is whats keeping me in Horde really, but now Void are same as we are so i have option.
Alliance need better Racials ,good guys in shiny armor are boring, and all pacifist lore around Andiun and other major NPC are boring.
For now only Honor buff can draw me to Alliance
Yeah, i play both Horde and Alliance and agree 100%.
I will always play more on the alliance side. No matter what.
TBH I don’t even pay attention to racials anymore but I think Alliance still have the most OP racial which is EMFH. BElf racial got nerfed cause it was assumed it was OP (due to everyone rolling BElf) but now the Belf racial is useless and people are still rolling it.
Yes…
In this thread watch the hordies screech as they cling onto their privilege
All they need to so is lure one or two Mythic guilds to the Alliance, that’s it. And that can be extremely easy, remember the 8.1 debacle? Some players faction-changed twice to just get the AOO reward in NA.
Just make the Alliance 1% better in the Mythic raid: fixed. In PvP Human and Nelf already are pretty much superior as race anyways.
But, we can also say that the “epic battle between Horde and Alliance” failed in BfA and we now are merged in the afterlife. The whole faction thing is quite lame atm…it exists, that’s about it.
I knew this would crop up. “How to make the Alliance better by taking stuff away from the Horde”
Just a reminder, the Thalassian Elves were part of the Alliance of Lordaeron for the duration of the Second War. The Nightborne have -never- been part of the Alliance. You need to escape the Tolkien Trap of thinking that Elves are inherently good being that will side with Humans and Dwarves. That isn’t a thing from our real world mythology about Elves and was one man’s scribblings that people seem to take as Holy Writ. Elves do not ‘belong’ to the Alliance.
No it doesn’t? Like it or not, Elves in the Horde fit. They are much more similar to the -actual- myths of Elves in our own folklore, in that they quite happily rub shoulders with the brutish horrors of legend and myth. They are by now, fully emmeshed in the Horde ethos.
Gotcha, so this is a “Take stuff off the Horde and give it to Alliance even though it makes no sense” post then?
Only those who think that Tolkien books are the only fantasy depictions of Elves ever.
Why? They have never been in the Alliance, and their sole exposure to the Alliance has been them aiding in the liberation of their city (Same as the Horde) then saying that they don’t actually care about the source of mana that stops them becoming hideously devolved Withered, and on top of that, some Alliance leader waltzing in and dissing their leader in fairly certain terms, making a massively insulting statement to their leader (Who has been opposing Elisande since the start, as opposed to the Night Elves suddenly waltzing up and giving them morality lessons), or you have the nation that has something very in common with them, and are their direct descendants, have a similar mana problem, and moreover, were actually -decent- to them. I don’t see that the Nightborne are likely to be chummy with Alliance, their representatives either vanished without a word, or actively insulted them.
Oh Gee thanks. So to replace the races who actually are Horde, we get races who are enemies of the Horde, and carbon copies of races we already have two of? Sounds real fair that.
Goblins already have a city. Kezan is pretty much Pompei right now, You know, the massive Volcano that erupted and destroyed the island? The reason they had to flee the place? Don’t you think if it was viable to live there, someone would have tried to? Kezan is gone.
Small point, it is Warsong Hold, not Grommash Hold, That’s the Seat of the Warchief in Orgrimmar. Not a bad idea, does set an awkward precedent though, in that the Horde would have a Capital city Presence on Northrend, whereas the Alliance would not.
They have no Alliance civilisations in them. This is my point. Blood Elves are not an Alliance civilisation. Quel’thalas owed Arathor a favour, they joined the Alliance for the duration of the Second War, after which time, both Arathor and Quel’thalas felt the debt was repaid, and -BOTH- left the Alliance for the same reasons. -Some- Elves, Volunteers under their Crown Prince aided Humans in the Third War, Quel’thalas as a state did not. Of those Volunteers, the Alliance planned to Execute them all.
The Nightborne have never been Alliance in either of its iterations, so most certainly are not an ‘Alliance Civilisation’.
Ah huh, so again “What can we take away from the Horde”, instead of the thread title, what can we do to make the Alliance more popular?
Wow…just Wow…so they lose two cities and the Alliance get them? This all sounds very even handed so far. Do you wonder sometimes why people have problems taking these sort of threads seriously. For a start, if the Alliance want the bit of Suramar that Horde actually get, you’re welcome to it. It’s a tiny garden with no buildings and is a square. It’s smaller than Telogrus Rift for goodness sake. It, like the Nightborne models, had zero attention and thought process into making it good. I knew we’d get round to asking for Silvermoon. It always comes back to that. Typical.
None of them work.
No they are not. Both Blood Elves and Nightborne have been Horde for far longer than just one of them was ever Alliance.
Get over it.
Now, lets get onto sensible ideas…
Not gonna work, you’re just going to put a big hefty weight on the see-saw meaning it won’t work. Besides, do you really think that would help the Alliance? The sure knowledge that you are only popular because the game is slanted towards you, and that you are playing on Easy mode? That would destroy Faction Pride, which is what we are trying to think of ideas to build up here, not decrease.
100% this! I 100% agree with this, those are the two races with a)history, and b) a damned good reason, to go really ‘off the top ropes’ at people. If we kill Sylvanas (and I really hope we do) I would actually forgo the pleasure and allow an NPC to ‘Killsteal’ her if it was either Tyrande or Genn, both work, both have reason. Personally, I’d love it to be Genn, and die as he does it. Not because I don’t like Genn, he’s one of my top 3 favourite leaders, but it would be such a poignant end to his story, the narrative streak in me loves the idea of him utterly destroying Sylvanas and dying whilst doing so, even though I don’t want him killed off.
We’re seeing that -kind of- but low key, with Tyrande doing her own thing, and Genn -kind of- agreeing with her. I agree, we could see more dissent.
Again, dangerous, because whenever Alliance posters make a point, Horde posters (and I play both) would legitimately be able to say “Well, yes, but you -are- the Welfare Faction.” Except rather than the usual casual insults we see already, if that was done, there would be no comeback, the Alliance would be the ‘Pity’ Faction, so anything they achieved would be tarnished by that knowledge.
We should be aiming to build our boys and girls in blue up, not to tilt the floor so that they have it easier, as then, awful as it is, any jibes thrown by Horde posters would be 100% legit.
Dangerous words, and ones guaranteed to make what comes next sound utterly foolhardy. After all, those of us who played this game from the start know how it goes if you deliberately favour one side in a two faction game? It would be like having a game of chess and taking away some of the pieces from one side before the game begins. The instant words like ‘Punish’ are thrown around, nothing that comes after is going to be taken seriously.
Which ones? Alliance racials outperform Horde ones right now.
I agree with all of what you say there, apart from Get rid of Anduin. I’ll explain why. I -love- the idea of the Alliance showing its teeth and really getting savage, but I equally love the concept of this young Boy King trying to balance it all out and keep them true to ‘The Alliance’ when he is basically juggling three chainsaws…That are on Fire… If you want the Alliance to be more savage, now is the time, when the King doesn’t have the ability to actually rein them in. We’re seeing it a bit with Tyrande, but more would be good.
Hush, Adults are talking, not children with some very questionable ideas as to the role of women in society.
A lot of it could be fixed by some good solid meaty Alliance lore achievements, as in things the Faction does.
We need to see this in game more! We know that the Alliance won the War at the Siege of Orgrimmar, and Varian Wrynn was able to lay down -terms- to the Horde, but how many of y’all, and be honest, how many of you clicked on the NPC’s in Grommash Hold to find out what that actually meant? It was actually a crushing defeat for the Horde, Anybody know that they had to completely withdraw from Ashenvale? That the Gnomes were allowed to plunder the tech secrets that Garrosh had used to fuel his War Machine? That Sylvanas had to pull her forces back from Gilneas?
Now those are all parts of the terms that Varian demanded, and the Horde had to accede to.
What would be cool, is if we saw that represented more in game. Don’t tell us, Show us!!
The Alliance won the Fourth War. Don’t tell us, Show us!!
We know both sides are on the ropes, Alliance is running out of manpower, but we don’t know what effect that has on the Horde unless we read the recent short story about Lor’themar and Thalyssra, Lor’themar as one of the heads of the Council is massively worried about the future of the Horde, because it is essentially Bankrupt. He is so worried (or maybe just that Lor’themar is one of those people who worries about things) that even Grand Magister Rommath, who is an old stick in the mud of an Elf who might as well have ‘Duty’ tattooed on his forehead tells Lor’themar to just ‘Take a day off, and do something for himself for once’. The Horde is bankrupt. It can’t afford to wage a war, it certainly can’t afford to start one. We don’t know that however, unless we read that short story. (It’s not actually terrible, and is an example of when Blizzard actually get a romance right, rather than the horrible Tyrande and Malfurion stuff in Val’sharah) It’s like, Oh, yeah, thats how Elves romance each other, rather than High School histronics.
The Horde is bankrupt, the Alliance not only won the 4th War, but right now, the Horde is incapable of fighting a 5th War. That is how you win a War, not by annihilation (Rarely has that ever worked in history) but by ensuring that your enemy simply -cannot- wage war on you again.
We should see these things, and Alliance Victories should be signposted more, for those who don’t read the novels or talk to the NPC’s. We should see more homeless on the streets of Horde Capitals, people who simply cannot afford their previous homes and careers, (I mean we see the Forsaken ones already, but this would effect everyone).
You have to pay your soldiers, or else they will find a career that will earn them an income, so your army shrinks, and with it, your capacity to fight. Patriotism makes for a good breakfast, but a poor Supper, when there is no food in the house and your kids need new shoes and you haven’t been paid for a month.
They should actually -show- the repercussions of the War on the losing side, which I think most people, certainly on RP realms, would not be averse to seeing and rolling with.
We need to -See- those Alliance victories for what they are, instead of the bland “Yeah, you both stop fighting, you won, Grats”
More depiction of Alliance victories would feel good, right?
Hordes pick hordes because its not a generic human like faction.
you`re pretty much forced to play horde if you care about mythic+ or arena, impossible to find groups for high keys/high arena in LFG on alliance.
you could start with removing all racials from the game, something i`ve been saying since MoP
The real turn off for the alliance for me is Alliance players
let Sylvanas kill Advin and Tyranda already …
High elves.
That, Alliance have the best looking females by far.
I have a joke for you:
Yo KWEEN doesn’t even have [Will of the Forsaken]
Every time Anduin is close enough to cast [Psychic Scream] she runs away in fear.
