They are supposed to be different. But the alliance has so many villains now it’s a joke there is no tension.
There needs to be a cultural and societal shift in the real world for the writing to improve.
As it stands, far too many fantasy settings are written with modern day real world ideals forced into a setting even when and where they do not fit.
Combined with the strange assumption that every player shares the ideology of the writers.
I prefer it when players are encouraged to come to their own conclusions about events that are often much more complex than presented.
That’s the long and the short of it. They abandoned the faction war in RoC. It only appears in TFT as a rump, as a small group who can’t let bygones be bygones. They’ve tried to revisit it properly twice now and it sucked both times. Now all that’s left is this beancounter attitude who think that one hack job of a plotline deserves another to ‘make it equal’. I think most people would simply prefer to just move towards ‘faction identity’ meaning not wanting to stand around gingerly cheering because their faction nuked some civilians for the fourth time.
They tried to rekindle the faction war twice in MOP and Bfa.
I really hope Turalyon will go mad high on Light and we would have to sack Stormwind again.
Doubt Blizz have the stones to do that tho.
The alliancebreaker title for the horde would be nice
Two of the least popular storylines among both Horde and Alliance players.
I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility at all that Alleria will end up falling to the Void. I think the overwhelming majority have had enough of faction conflict more generally, though.
It doesnt have to be full blown conflict, it could be just an civil war on alliance side and then cold war between factions. The fullblown conflicts doesnt seem to work at all, they cant write em well enough ever.
But why? What purpose does it serve except satisfying some small number of Horde players who think they’re owed some daft notion of ‘fairness’ for past bad writing?
Some small number of Horde players who would turn around afterwards and whine that the Alliance got all the attention again because the Alliance civil war didn’t involve the Horde?
Never forgave Blizzard for this title.
You really underestimate how many horde players are there who think they have been shafted for years and want some fairness. So many of em dont just bother talking on forums and in anywhere about it. Well why would you the loudest ones are alliance people who try to quiet the conversation down instantly.
It still feels slap to the face considering all that has happened.
Because their weird view of “balance”
Not even Knowing what ut REALY means
Oh…you want faines, ok how about YOUR faction is going to be ridiculous clubbed, showing incompetence amd lose and lose, become for the staft the laughing stovk before doing something hamw changing
So nothing new then?
Though in all fairness, Alliance side writing hasnt been good either in years other than few highlights. So i can understand the anger even from that side, But really after playing both sides for years, It always felt that alliance got most of the good stuff compared to playing in horde’s side. I might be biased maybe but so is everyone we all have our bias eventhough everyone keeps telling they dont have any. It is human nature to feel about things differently cause of our expriences
What is the unfairness? Faction leader deaths? I agree some of them were underutilised but this is not really the fault of Alliance players, is it? Why ask Alliance players to take Ls for poor choices made by Blizzard?
If they wrote a storyline tomorrow where the Horde decide to walk into Stormwind and blow it up, would that achieve anything? The Horde players who ‘think’ they’ve been treated unfairly would be happy for about three days before they start to complain that it was ‘focusing on the Alliance’ instead of focusing on the Horde, because Stormwind is an Alliance city. Meanwhile the Alliance would have lost their capital in the name of ‘fairness’ for plotlines they hated at the time.
This is the fundamental reason why writing to achieve ‘fairness’ is a bad idea, because one of the sides will never be pleased with what they get and the other had nothing to do with the ‘unfairness’ in the first place.
And this goes both ways, for the Alliance players who feel that they’re treated ‘unfairly’ and imagine Horde favouritism wherever they look too. That’s why it’s so stupid to try and keep these groups happy.
Ok better visualised it with: how about alliance attack out of nowhere, completely steamrolle the bloodelves in ghostland and eversong forest, their territories in which they actually woud had home advantage but Blizzard decide to forgotten about that.
Then genocided the people in silvermoon and burn the city down, only have the army in a counter attack on exodar completely stupid walking into a trap-only save by deus ex machina and still not achieve a real victory.
Then have the alliance free some important prisoners out if Orgrimmar (underground stronghold) and bamboozle the whole defence there while escape and in the process crippled a large chuck of the fleet.
Do you understand what I’m getting at?
You really think im asking for complete wipeout of stormwind? Nah i meant raid in a way of ogrimmar and giving horde players similiar title as hordebreaker is. Everytime there has been somekind of ask giving horde something there was an huge uproar. I so remember bfa times when sylvanas loyalist choice was there how much anger it rised up in forums and everywhere else, even going as far that every player who chooses it should be marked and shown how bad people they are. And this comes to a point why most of horde people don’t even bother talking about lore anymore or having wishes for anything. And blizzard listens the ones who are loudest obviously
‘Most Horde people don’t talk about Lore any more’.
Most of this lore forum seems to be Horde players whining about how hard done by they are, so I’m not really sure where you’re coming from there.
I think the fact that there’s vocal players on each faction who are absolutely convinced right down to their bones that Blizzard hates them and always favours the other faction means that Blizzard are overall doing a pretty good job of being balanced in handing cool stuff out on a faction level.
