Where does Shadowlands PVP rank?

Number of players in ranked games has reduced by ~2/3 in Season 2 if compared with start of Season 1.

https://luduslabs.org/sotl/season-2-begins

TBC arena has its own issues

Season 1 was an exception with participation highest in like 10 years

thats the worst idea i read in a long time? we dont need less incentive to play the game we need more. If you remove all rewards people stop playing or lose motivation.
players need goals they are chasing.

which isnt really a surprise since SL in general had way more players because it was the beginning of the expansion and in addition to that pvp gear was very good in pve so many pvers did pvp. (which everyone on this arenaforum complained about and now you complain about having less participation since pvp gear isnt that good in pve anymore)

New generation of WoW players for sure have psyhological issues… Even if you win 10 games in a row and kid get for first time his hot streak, this wont prevent him to curse your mom when you lose one game. For those millenial kids evry lose is smash in their brain, and they suffer nervous breakdown when lose. And its never their fault, you are the always one who did mistake, they just lack of self criticism but love to critic others.

I saw an interesting old video of Steve Jobs saying that when a company owns the majority of market share then it becomes purely about sales & marketing. These people end up running the company whilst the product design team are pushed further and further out.

Explains WoW at the moment, and all the top streamers are now leaving. They need to end this expansion fast and move on.

its blizz fault that bm is imba dmg rn and need fix

but i like that i can get higher ilvl with higher exp, i like to smash low gear alts on bgs since born

Its not the best but its not the worst either.

It had the potential to be really good tho if not for random oneshots and LFG literally filled with boosters.

This is nonsense, and here’s why: take rogues in 2v2. Every kidney is a go.

I have my trinket and my partner’s and even if we rotate perfectly I can still die in a kidney. Also Mindgames effectively nullifies Guardian Spirit so having it up for a go in a stun is pointless, unless I can trinket or my partner can to stop the Mindgames. Not to mention the rogue also has duel and depending on the scenario my partner can die in due even on stun DR.

The only time we win is if they make a mistake, like a gap in CC allowing one to screw the go, or if I can make a sick play like meld kidney, or even meld to buy 0.5 secs to Fade the kidney.

Against BM hunter I always avoid or death most traps and we still lose just from the damage alone and undispellable healing reduction.

Sorry for the silly question, but who is your mate? i mean class/spec

MM Hunter if you’re asking me

You absolutely missed the point. I didn’t say about removing rewards just old rating achievments. Not only before MoP S15 we had battle groups where 2400 in different battlegroups meant different thing but Wrath achievments mean nothing if someone didn’t repeat that thing again.

Rewards and titles should be kept but they should only last for the season after you got it. So it will make people play more actively.

Also there shouldn’t be description in LFG anymore - you should just see the current rank of the player applying. This way it will make it easier to get into LFG groups.

I said nothing about removing rewards.

Gameplay-wise I think Shadowlands PvP is way up there. I have not played all the classes properly, but I’ve played all druid specs and they feel good, mostly. I love my warlock, very fun in all specs. DK is pretty fun, I used to HATE both frost and unholy, but I have had fun with both. I’ve played more classes too, and they all feel fun to play.
Certainly there are some stupid things like convoke, mindgames, shackles, BM-dmg and the cleave-potential of certain comps, but overall I can play any class and have fun in both arena and BGs.

Gearing is a bother, too little conquest per win combined with having to stay on top of renown, torghast, conduits and campaign is way too much in order to keep alts geared and playable. I like the idea of the legendary system, but in practice they should made it 1 torghast run per week and chosen legendary powers more carefully. Some classes have no fun powers or can’t play their fun powers, some classes have to switch between legendaries far too much. I think talents and pvp-talents are enough for per-game-customization.

LFG-wise this x-pac is atrocious, though. Unfortunately.

It had the foundation to become a really good PvP experience. All it needed was proper tweaking. Too bad Blizzard no longer has employees working on the game, proven by the fact that the new ā€˜content’ patch that was 7 months in the making is literally just a tiny zone with reused assets.

Thus, we had to deal with broken nonsense classes all expansion, and this patch hasn’t changed much if anything at all. It’s not as bad as TBC (TBC was fine for the time, due to players being really bad at the fotm classes, but it isn’t in classic), but it’s certainly down there with the other trash.

Unpopular opinion. I think SL PvP is way better then people give it credit for.
A lot of comps and classes are viable, pretty much all can reach 2.1k, the meta is faster, true, but not compared to a lot of other seasons.
If you get your nostalgia lenses off, you would realise how bad a lot of early seasons were.
TBC = imagine playing anything other then Rogue/Mage cc comps, SL SL, War, Resto druid.
Wotlk = S5 Dks amd Rets Kekw, more broken then any spec in SL or BFA locks by 20 miles., S6-7 decent, S8 PvE Heroic meta, Shadowmourne Meta.
Cata = Rogues vial + leggo daggers, blood dks.
MoP = Infernal CC chains meta.

Is SL top 3? Probably not, but I can say certainly enjoyable and maybe top 6-7 out of the 25 season until now.

My tier list for PvP:

WoD (ease of gearing alts, best PvP gearing system they had)

Wrath (fun meta, all around good expansion)

Cata (wasn’t horrific gear differences, was pretty fun)

Shadowlands (actually can be quite fun, but power differences in gear is horrific, unresponsive/non existent pvp devs, feels like it could actually be a good expansion if it had a bit of attention. The idea for the meta is in the right place, the execution is poor. I haven’t enjoyed random BGs as much as I do now for a while.)

MoP (horrible ability bloat, but had its moments)

Legion ( would be better if you could allocate secondary stats within a template rather than being given some random crap)

TBC (boring, slow paced pvp, mana drain fest, dot and hot meta)

BFA (sh*tshow)

Classic can’t be compared as it’s a category on it’s own, but it was really fun

It was the dumbest PvP expac with so much prunning, most classes were literally damage bots because that was all they could do lol.

in wod warrior had like 3 or 4 abilities?

for me, out of what i’ve played. something like this from what i recall.

  1. late legion
  2. late wod
  3. early/mid shadowlands
  4. early bfa
  5. mid legion
    -------------------- not fun zone
  6. early legion
  7. late bfa
  8. mid bfa
