Add on to this the widespread “gogogo, skip every mob you can and we can just we can outdps all the mechanics instead of actually playing the encounter” mindset… yeah, it´s just a clusterf waiting to happen…
That in and of itself wouldn´t even be the biggest issue… but when it becomes obvious that nobody is playing mechanics properly and that’y why teh group is already farming repair costs on BBH, and people then continue to ignore mechanics, that´s when it becomes a truly pointless endeavor
I wasn’t talking about utility cooldowns. I understand your stance and where you are coming from, but I plainly disagree. There roles given and responsibilities for each player. Sure, there are overlaps where we can take turns or watch out for each other, but blaming the healers because you wipe at 3% health due to Enrage, when no one died? Healing the tanks because somebody didn’t get enough heals?
You are talking nonsense. It ain’t black and white. And for the record, I am a big fan of the “dps must use CC and dispels” kind of affixes. So no, I am not advocating for target dummy responsibilities.
I didn´t say it was black and white, you´te the one simply assuming that I see it that way without asking for further clarification.
The point is, yes, obviously you assume that others are going to do their job to the best of their ability, or you´re going to have much bigger problems as a group sooner rather than later.
But that doesn´t mean for ex that rets can’t throw out a WoG when needed, or even a LoH, especially during an intermission when they´re running away from the boss anyway and or can´t do damage anyway. Because as much as it will cost them personally in DpS, losing even the worst dd completely will negatively impact the raid´s overall performance more. And that will always trump any and every personal performance metric, because nobody is going to kill these bosses alone any time soon. I´m not saying rets, boomies etc should spend the entire fight off healing outside of fringe cases like said magmorax setup (though with current tuning below mythic they probably could and it wouldn´t even matter, honestly can´t even remember the last time I saw an enrage timer go off…). But I am 100% saying they shouldn´t be watching their friends die without so much as a hot either, just “because that´s the healers job”.
Ergo, it´s all about doing what helps the group most when it helps the group most, instead of the more common tunnel vision on the boss, at best using their own survivability and self heal, and then being surprised that everyone else is dead
Because at the end of the day, Just like a symphony orchestra will only produce dissonant cacophony if they´re not given the same sheet music and beat reference, a raid too is only ever as strong as it´s weakest member´s capacity to look up from thier own plate and understand what the others are doing and why. and try to support them instead of just doing their own thing regardless of what´s going around them. Sure, I can just tunnel on ovinax and spread my dots and pull decent numbers… Or I could make myself actually useful and kick the worms, frost /stun the parasites… because even if we do have set groups for dealing with worms, people make mistakes.
Here is the anwser to your problem: Play with friends, if you don’t have any make some.
How do you make Friends that like to play M+? Add them after a succesfull M+ run, instead of instantly skiddadeling out of the group the second it’s timed and you opend your chest.
Same Solution, to the Same Problem we had for the past 8 Years.
But i guess, making the 10.000 Post about it get’s you more symphathy on the forums.
This forum is the whole reason why my subscription is on hold at the moment, me and my friend were really enjoying the expansion. Then it came to the end content and it’s just so sour. Taking the best part of an hour to get into a key? One failure key is gone as people leave.
I dunno if i want to come back of this is what wow is now. I have always loved playng wow but at this moment in time the game is just so toxic, people just need to get back to reality. Your not mdi and you can easily pug higher keys give people a chance.
As for leaving early there should be a que ban for 15 to 30 minute’s, there key taken away then they have to complete 3 keys to get one back. Make it punishable because no punishment is just so unfair. People will say that if the key isn’t timable why should i waste my time in the key? Ask yourself this, why did you join the key in the 1st place? There was a slight chance of failure anyway. So stop running and keys are still timeable even with silly deaths.
That’s my opinion on it at the minute, hope it changes but it probably won’t. So I’ll spend my time enjoying the new dragon age and do other stuff while wow slowly declines more and more.

I don’t do M+ but why can’t they implement a feature where the timer pauses upon someone leaving and re-start when the empty spot is filled ?
Would it get abused by people kicking and joining their friends ?
There must be something they can do because the stories I read in the forum make me NEVER want to do M+
There’s no point banning people for 30 mins for leaving because they’ll just go make a coffee and come back later !
Dont read the forums. The forums only post bad experiences. Nobody will ever post a topic with they had a fun good run without any trouble. Or a run where people were nicely talking to each other, while the run wasnt perfect but everything went in a nice atmosphere. 95% of the dungeons-run are great. Nobody talks about those runs though.
Playing with guildies or even friends makes the game probably 10 times as fun, I do not PuG at all. If I had to I would unsub, the same goes for any other online game, I like to spend time with friends and play a game.
Don’t think that the stories on the forum are the complete truth. Don’t think that these stories are not exaggerated. Don’t think that this is the norm for all the runs.
Whoever continuesly faces leavers, should just improve their group-making skills and/or join communities (No Pressure EU, I heard is a good one), or improve their own gameplay.
In like 100 runs I faced 2 leavers this season. Both were after a full wipe or three, which is kind of acceptable imo.
I’ve just recently been running my own keys, and just noticed that if you don’t time a key, but finish it, the key depletes - did it do that before? If so, what’s the point in finishing a key if you know it wont be timed?
Loot, crests, vault credit, and still more rating than not completing it at all if it isn’t horribly over time.
That´s why there´s a marked difference in clearing OT keys below 11 and from there on up.
If you´re running 2-10s, chances are good if not close to 100% that somebody in the group is after at least one of these things, while in 11s and up most people are only doing it because they want to push rating. And if the key will no longer give rating in the latter case because OT, then for that player it´s a waste of time and they will more likely than not leave.
It applies in the former case, too, but to a lesser degree, and partly because it’s easier to pre-select participants who are more likely to complete the run even if it does go OT for crests or gear with a quick IO search, as opposed to sifting though 4 dozen people @626+ with 2500+ score where gear and crests are irrelevant and you have to check if they need that specific key, because it´s the only real factor .
Your key goes down immediately after you use it. If you check your bag during the 10 second countdown your key is 1 level lower.
It’s like the wager on a bet, if you are successful you get it back and you get your winnings. If not, you lose it forever.
It would be decent if you could set the key to not upgrade or lower though, sometimes I want to stay at the same level. So the “reward” of it going up isn’t worth the risk of if going down. Lots of people would probably just freeze their key at +10 though.
