Why caves are so hard to exit?

Is this happening on purpose? The minimap doesn’t help a lot… You can’t understand where is the exit… I was lost in one cave in night elves quest. I was in there 15 minutes asking for help in the chat!

All bigger caves are like that, though the barrow dens can be a bit much. Don’t trust the minimap in those places, lower and upper parts are mashed together.

They’re all copy/pastes of each other anyway, once you know your way around one, you know them all. Just go to a lowbie one and commit the layout to memory.

I feel u, I ALWAYS get lost in caves even if ive been in the cave 20 times.

There’s something about caves thats just mind boggling confusing to the senses, even on retail etc.

Haha, you need to do that 10 more times and you will know it perfectly. It is a circle with multiple similar layers.

And this topic is connected to retail … how?

Well, just learn the layout.

Until Legion released there was i think 3 cave layouts in the entire game, every cave uses one of these set layouts with different colors/textures. Just look them up on db or wowhead or something

This.

Iirc there are three stock caves they repeat with different cosmetics. So hang in there!

Now about those blasted Barrow Dens those hippie Elves love so much…

maybe unstuck will help you and teleport out.

OP grab a pen and a paper next time.

Cave types I can recall

1/ What I call the ‘Ogre Cave’ because only Ogres use them, slight variations but use the same ‘modules’.

2/ What I call the 'Mine Cave as per the cave in Northshire Abbey, again there are small variations.

3/ The more complicated cave as found in the NE starting area.

4/ The cave as per the Orc infested one in Redridge.

5/ The Rethban Caverns map, again as found in Redridge.

6/ The cave type as found close to Hammerfall in Arathi.

7/ Possibly the most complicated map as per the Cantaur Cave in Desolace near the Ferelas border.

8/ The cave type found in Elwyn and Stonetalon Both full of Kobold miners.

9/ The Barrow Den rtpe which is basicly 2 figure of 8’s , one on top of the other.

10/ And finally the simple hole in the ground as per Growless Cave in Arathi.

That#s a lot more than 3 :stuck_out_tongue:

I stand corrected

Though those Barrow Dens are not caves but pits from Hades made manifest in the material World, I’d argue

It’s not so much about shapes of the caves and not finding way out but more like wandering in cave and then craploads on things respawning between you and cave entrance. I think me and my friends spent like 20% of our time in vanilla resquing eachothers from different caves and classic seems to start pretty much same way. It’s part of the fun.

Well… WoW did teach me to never enter a cave irl on my own…

I’ve oddly never had an issue navigating caves, but Alliance buildings?

Caveman brain.

Best advice I can offer about navigating caves is always turn left, in most caves this will take you through the entire cave and eventually back to the entrance.

I’ve been in that den so often that I know it like the back of my hand. It’s quite funny to hear people are getting lost in it.

For the record, that place is like a mini-dungeon disguised as solo-content, when it really is group content.

It’s called having an adventure :stuck_out_tongue:
You don’t get that kind of experience in retail.
