Why do journalists pick on the WoW store but not FF14's or ESO?

That is the point, someone else, not you. If it is not your money then you are not paying money for this, you are obtaining this for free, just playing the game. Someone else money is someone else problem, not yours.

If I borrow someone’s credit card and they agree to pay my sub. Does that make WoW F2P, ofc not. Roughly the same situation except I dont know the person.

Cause that would be like beating a dead horse. I’m sure there were a lot of complaints when they added a cash shop(if it didn’t exist from the start), but now it’s not news.

For you it will be. Someone else money is not yours. Someone else is paying for your sub but you are playing for free.

EDIT: Think a little more, if someone else is paying for your sub just because that sub is for you does not means you have the right to reclaim the money if something goes wrong? No, the person who bought the token could make a reclamation but you don’t, because Blizzard will give the money only the one who actually paid.

Does it means you have a said about if that other person expending his money? No, that other person will buy a token for a sub for someone like you without asking you, it will be his unilateral decission. If he bought a token in the AH he does not need to ask you or anyone else if you want the sub, he buy a token without knowing you or anyone else and without asking you if you wanted it or not.

WoW cash shop can be traced back to the sparkle pony on Wrath. I think it was Cata that they added the crown transmogs.

You can;t be angry if they name it after a moogle, can you.

I was speaking about FFXIV cash shop, where they add literally monthly new items. WoW does it rarely, so it attracts much more criticism.

yeah they always go on like grinding 150k gold just happens as you level or while doing normal things

ive never had that amount except where i bought a token for the grand expedition yak

Sounds to my like you’re not doing it all wrong.

When i level i mine herb , skin everything in my path.

When i do dungeons , i throw all boe’s on the auction house.

Vendor all the soulbound stuff.

Making gold is basic as it comes kill stuff + loot = gold . Herb 1 ore , you’ve made gold. So therefore kill more stuff , mine more = more gold.

It takes zero effort. I never go out of my way to farm one of something for hours upon hours. Literally only what’s in front of me.

that literally sounds like effort you’re putting in

i don’t grind gold, i couldn’t think of anything less enjoyable in this game

Cause Blizzard have been running this show for a long time so obviously they have to chew at the ankles of the biggest bad boys in town, in the mmo department :stuck_out_tongue:

The traction wow gets always has been larger than most other publishers regardless of what it does just due to popularity. Just about everyone and their mum knows what WoW is if they have a PC/use the internet. Most people can’t say the same for ffxiv or Eso.

Those are definitely the biggest 3 offenders for having in-store items + a subscription of sorts which you more or less must have

The “omgz Blizzard is greedy and evilz” pitchfork event is still on-going? Hmm…persistent. Then again…it also took a while for the shop’s head transmog’s “omg Blizzard is greedy and evilz” event to cool down.

because hate and negativity gets clicks/views and thats all these people care about

if everyone just ignored them so they’d go away the world would be slightly better once again

i think this may be because the cash shop items in WoW are very expensive

FFXIV level boost versus WoW - £15 vs £50
and there are now more levels in FFXIV than WoW

Not exactly.

In FF14 you need a level boost and a main scenario skip. And the level boost is ONLY for one job. One char has about 17 jobs.

Main scenario skip: £18.50 (cheaper ones to skip lower expansions)
Level boost (one job/spec): £18:50

So that’s £37 but if you dont like the job you have boosted… at least WoW you get all specs.

However what they do price well is other services.

F14 Fantasia is their race change which is £5.75 for one use.

Their server transfer is not only cheaper but you can move all your characters on that realm with you for £12.00.

as far as i was aware - it skips up to a certain point, lvl 70?

i bought white mage and ninja once and didn’t have tp buy the MSQ skip

Latest one is Stormblood skip.

See ff14 sounds far worse than anything Blizz has on offer yet no one rages about it online.

Why is one okay and the other a cardinal sin.

i didnt mind the MSQ tbh, enjoyed it after the ARR MSQ patches(good god those went on for ages)

shadowbringer was great apart from having the conclusion locked behind a raid completion : (

Do you realize how much people will cry if you add their hard earned limited time event rewards to the shop?

Imagine all the MoP and WoD challenge mode stuff would be put on the store , that would give Asmongold 3 months of content at least.
