Why do people complain when you skip bosses in leveling dungeons?

I was leveling a monk the other day as tank and got into a Blackfathom deep run, so as usual I tred to skip everything except what is necessary to kill (the ogre and the two last bosses) but there was that one mage who kept throwing a tantrum on how we shouldn’t skip, that we were mdi kids etc. He tried to pull extra to force me to do optionnal stuff but I just didn’t take aggro until the mobs killed him.

He started throwing insult so he got votekicked and we finished the dungeons.

Why are people like this ? Those dungeons have been out for like 20 years now. Who care if we don’t kill some random bosses everybody forgot existed ?

In some dungeons, there are quests to kill extra bosses. Sometimes the tank done the quests, but forget there maybe other who want to.

Yesterday i was in such dungeons (lvling alt), and tank said he wont do these bosses cos he dont want to. So i gave him my “regards” and left the dungeon.

different people, different tastes i guess. with lfg you have a variety of people and it is not guaranteed that everyone is on the same page and has the same expectations.

some might like skips, other want to take it slow, others want to do the whole thing in a decent speed.

also, i dont think people should assume that everyone is a veteran. so if you re rather new to the game and might not have seen the dungeons yet, they might want to experience them.

It’s generally considered polite if you ask the 4 other people if you want to skip an entire dungeon. Like mentioned above, different people have different expectations, you being the tank doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider what the other 4 want out of a dungeon.

What else would you than quick xp lol ?

Don’t forget that a dps can sit in the queue for like 10-30 minutes before entering a dungeon. I can absolutely imagine that they want to experience it all instead of having a 5m zerg fest.

Eh well, I have done most dungeons enough to not care. But if I tank and someone wants to do an optional boss, I just spend those 30s extra to do it. Big deal.

Does it matter why else they want to do it? If they get annoyed at you skipping there must be something that makes them not want to skip, not just to annoy you.

Your comment shows you’re just in it for yourself instead of considering others lol.

The other 3 were fine with skipping too, by the looks of it, so that’s 1 mage vs 4 others. If the majority is fine with skipping, the others should go with the flow, too. It’s kinda selfish to make 4 others clear everything because you want to.

Pretty sure OP would’ve made the same thread of all 4 decided to be against, as shown by the way he words it. Heck by the title alone that should be obvious “Why do people complain when you skip bosses in levelling dungeons?”

But yes I agree if the majority wants to skip, then so be it, sadly in wow a lot of people won’t speak up in a fear of being vote to kicked so it would be highly likely that atleast one or two others didn’t want to skip either. But that’s speculation on my part.

I don’t like the idea of skipping dungeons, it gives me an impression that the people who queued up for the dungeons just want the exp and tjen move on, not to legitimetly gear up the characters. I find it rude when people skip with no imput from others or they base their decision on just one answer

But they just want that , people just want to speedrun to level 60 to them start the endgame and gearing.

Why would you care about gearing up in blackfathom deeps ? Half your inventory slots are heirlooms and the rest will be replaced in 10 min anyways.

An enjoyable gaming experience, which some don’t get if they wait 15 minutes in queue for a 5 minute dungeon.

This is just an example could be many other reasons.

What’s enjoyable in killing a tank and spank boss you have already killed a million time before ?

Who said I, or they, have killed that boss a million times?

Pretty sure I’m not the only one who enjoys solo-questing with the occasional dungeon. As such I don’t keep queuing and wait for that one group that will actually do the boss I need for some quest I happen to have.
I have learned though that speaking up might result in a kick and that leaves me with less then just staying quiet and eventually simply abandoning the one quest I got since it is useless to do basically. Especially now when you can grow 5 levels in 30 mins.

What maybe people like me don’t realize is that by skipping bosses you get more exp per hour as opposed to when you would do the entire dungeon. Which is what speedlevelers are after. And LFG doesn’t discriminate so you’re bound to end up with a mix. And then ofc there are the occassional newbies that have no idea about skips, blink and the group is gone, they follow and bam pull half the dungeon because the group failed to ask if anyone is aware of skip-tactics.

It all comes down to communication.

Because everybody did ? Those dungeons have been out for decades. I joined in legion which is super late compared to the average players and even I already did them a million time.

I did? I’m pretty sure I didn’t. Man you really shouldn’t assume what’s other people’s playstyles and what they have or haven’t done.

I started in BFA, and I’m not the greatest dungeon fan, so there are plenty of dungeons that I’ve in fact never done in my life.

There are some players who are just literally children, their age irrelevant.

As I hate the existence of heirlooms, I decided not to get any for my mage. Leveling him from 10 to 50 was tough. It’s a combination of leveling being too fast, quests not rewarding enough gear and players rushing to the last boss. On average, until I entered the Shadowlands, I was running gear that was 20 levels below me.

Skipping bosses in dungeons actively hurts newer players who don’t even have access to looms. I never complained about skipping bosses, I just dealt with it and my mage is now level 60 so there’s that.

It’s not the fault of the players, it’s the fault of Blizzard for making leveling so quick that you outgrow gear much faster than you can replace it.

People who hate rushing through dungeons, who want to spend an hour in a leveling dungeon, clearing everything should stick to Classic. Also, some believe that in a dungeon you have to clear stuff for the exp but… you don’t, because the main exp in the dungeon is the end of dungeon exp, not the boss kill exp.

Well you are in the ultra minority then, I am not going to waste everyone’s time by giving them a tour of an instance old enough to be of legal drinking age just in case there is newbie around. He can always go back to it on his own and have his little exploration once he outlevels the place, not like there is much to see anyways.
