Why do people twink?

Easy wins.

xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD d

I think that’s meant to be read as an English-language word and not as videogame-specific jargon. You can “exploit” natural resources such as coal or a river without it being anything to do with bugs or cheating, and I think that’s the way the word is being used here.

But then it’s not negative

That was my point. I don’t think the laughter is justified.

he hates it, because he thinks it was “designed” for players leveling up. Yeah that is why we have rep rewards from bgs on the lower lvls. def designed for players lvling up.

Exploiting because there is no xp? like wtf, just make up some more.

Deff not if u learn to read a bit.

It is on the same level as jumping layers to gain more resources. It is not illegal, not cheating, it is using a system in a way not designed for that purpose to give you an advantage.

In the layer way its only giving you and advantage. In PvP it does that but also puts other players at an disadvantage.

If that is positive or negative is up to you to judge. I know I find it on the same level as cheating, even though technically it is not.

Dude get your head of of the gutter this is 100% bs.

Keep making this stuff up just bcs it doesn’t fit your agenda,

I guess when players started using Spellpower gear for raiding they were also exploiting and cheating…

Because blizzard intended to have a mage use gear like the magister’s set, with high int some stam and some spirit to raid with.

But people thought it was better to down a boss faster then to stack mana.

And with that blizz added more spellpower gear, later on in the game.

But u guys better just quit wow now because you are all building upon cheaters and exploiters.

You don’t need skill when you’re a twink that’s why people do it.

right ill just report u for trolling since u can’t utter a word more than your bs.

Playing at a lower than max level can be done for numerous reasons, including playstyle, balance or w/e. Nothing to judge there yet, that’s up to preference.

Carefully decking out that toon in the best dungeon and BoE gear available? Awkward, but still understandable. It’s kinda like endgame, but lower.

Slapping endgame enchants not intended for lowies onto that gear as well? That’s where you no longer wonder “if”, but “what” these people are trying to compensate.

As a result, “the appeal” differs quite a bit from motivation to motivation. The toon I’m posting for example from was stuck at 48 for the longest while because I found DKs and Resilience obnoxious and wanted to avoid them. Didn’t have any of those fancy BiS pieces or enchants, though, only what I had laying around from leveling.

Can’t speak about Classic Twinks, as I haven’t hit 60 yet so not even thinking about making a Classic Twink yet.

Last count I had in the region of about 40 XP off characters, most with less than 1K HK’s on Even my most played Twink has barely 10K HK’s

For me it’s as much about being able to create a character that has ( had ) a finite gearing path / gear progression. I have much greater control over my characters build than the RNG fest that is max level gear progression.

For example I have a 49 Disc that has a full haste set, and sits between 20 and 23% haste. I was able to target every piece of gear needed to make the build.

TBH the only reason I’m still logging into Retail is to get some BiS pieces I’m missing on a couple of toons.

A lot of the guys and girls I played battlegrounds with on their Twinks ( in retail ) used to play their Twinks as a way to have fun away from their mains. Others just for the pure ownership that twinks bring.

yikes here we go again with the “not intended, not designed, cheating, exploiting” bs.

Why do i twink? Certain abilities, completely change a class, mounts also completely change the flow of battles.

Pre lvl 20 nobody has a movement speed increasing effect, no blink, aspect of the cheetah, travelform, ghostwolf etc, so people are generally the same speed, and the length from flag to flag is thus considerably longer and more oppertunities for counterplay

pre 40 nobody has a mount, so the classes with movement bonuses clearly have an advantage, certain high(er) level skills are not available for certain brackets yet, eg no pom pyroblasts, cone of cold etc, wich completly changes the balanced rock paper scissors fights of twinks in classic. But don’t worry even at lower brackets, just like lvl 60 there is still the rock paper scissors system.

Exceptional gear, long term planning, and the chance do i get it or not, are also a factor. Eg, STV Big game hunters quest chain you can do from lvl 28, a hunter that manages to complete it at lvl 29, will have a green ranged weapon, that is far superior. But it takes a different playstyle and meticulous planning to get your gear / quests done in the right order. It is a complex and expensive way of leveling and playing.

There’s no skill level for circumstances where there is no way for you to mitigate the outcome. Twinks make it 0% chance to win. That’s not lack of skill - that’s just pure numbers.

Personally I don’t get why people twink… I find it kind of irritating if you want to plod around in a low level bg to take a break from the quest grind and you can’t cast a single spell because someone is able to instantly one shot you without you having the abilities or gear to mitigate the outcome. (To me that’s just stupid gameplay… but i guess simple minds enjoy simple tasks)

Here this is the only thing i’ll have to read and I know that whatever else u say is pure bs with 0 reasoning.

Not to mention trying to insult people because u have such strong feelings towards something u think is against you.

For the same reason why people do PvP with decked out characters. To 1 shot other people.

How can possibly having BiS gear for any given level be an exploit?
Is having best possible gear at level 60 exploiting too?

Twinking is just yet another way of playing the game - it feels good to be overpowered and be a force to be reckoned with.

It’s really quite easy to gear up to be competitive, without having to go overboard and I do prefer wsg and ab without mounts.

I geared up toons at 29 and 39 though not as enthusiastically as some, it was still doable. The first bracket doesn’t have enough abilities to make it interesting for me personally, so I never ‘twinked’ for that one.

I also thoroughly enjoyed av especially when we summoned bosses, or I helped successfully defend a tower. I liked EotS too, though the battlegrounds with vehicles I didn’t like. So I also played end game bgs.

Today, with what we know, I think if we intend to go to the levelling battlegrounds, some basic gear and waiting until the 7 or 8 will make it more fun. As will teamwork. The battlegroup I was in didn’t have many 29 or 39 twinks. When they locked xp we couldn’t get enough people online at the same time for both factions at most of the levels, so it died.

Though real enthusiasts may have transferred to more populated battlegroups, or repeatedly levelled to 19, making a new twink each time one levelled, I’m sure some stopped playing for other reasons. Twinking wasn’t necessarily all we did.

I didn’t like the class and world changes in cata and cancelled my sub then. I did the first MoP level and cancelled again. I tried getting a bg levelling my alts, I’m at the char limit on retail now, but none popped. It seems there weren’t enough levellers for the none locked xp ones either. Too spread out in levels I expect.

Don’t forget there are blue rewards for each bracket, so although Blizz probably didn’t anticipate people buying more than one account, or getting twink guilds to help with things like the head enchants, gearing up has always been part of the rewards of playing wow.

No one expects to wear white and green gear and solo a dungeon boss that’s 9 levels higher than them. They shouldn’t really expect the same in the battlegrounds imo.
