What decked out level 60 is ever gonna 1 shot someone? Aint nobody doing 5k+ damage. Full MC gear gives you maybe 20% more damage tops over a full pre-bis. No where near the same situation.
Blizzard eventually put up level limits on high enchants
Blizzard eventually put XP on BG’s
Blizzard eventually created separate queues for XP and non XP
Do you think they did that because they fully intended twinking gameplay as it was done in early game?
You can like it, or not like it. Personal opinion of myself is pretty clear, I hate it. But if you deny that avoiding any form of experience in a game based on gaining experience and leveling, just so you can become unbalanced and overpowered over other players, feels like not playing the game as it was intended, then you might need to get “your head out of the gutter”.
Apperantly you haven’t faced a HoR warrior yet. Or a Pom Pyro mage.
Still MC gear is not decked out and twinking is not a thing yet. By the time it will be, players will have access to a lot more powerful gear.
A decked out level 60 will one shot a newbie wearing white and green gear who is up to 9 levels lower. He won’t one shot a pre bis 60 maybe, but a twink won’t one shot someone his level wearing decent blues or greens either. You aren’t comparing like for like.
Acti-Blizzard have done a lot of things. A lot of them we don’t like, hence why many of us are playing classic and not Bfa.
Still wouldn’t 1 shot, or even 3 shot. And aint no way any lvl 51 will be in grey items or full green. I get ya point though, still a huge advantage.
Very true. They also did a few good things.
I’m not saying they should remove twinking, add xp or anything. Twinkins was part of vanilla and will be part of Classic.
I admit back in vanilla my first blue was a dagger I found in Sunken Temple, so I probably was around lvl 51 lol, but yeah, these days my first blue will be quest rewards from the first dungeons.
A level 28 or 29 decked out in dungeon gear will probably be very viable in bgs, especially for tactical wins, slowing, stunning, cc’ing, healing etc for flags or defence. A good team is better than the best twink.
Reporting me for having an opinion different to yours.
To feel superior.
because there’s different metas at different level brackets.
and there’s so much gear that it feels like a waste to just level past a lot of it just to scramble for the end-game, also you are so much more powerful than everybody else usually who is running around in leveling gear/specc.
to sum it up,
it’s fun for some people.
A simple answer would probably be along the lines of “because you can”.
Play almost any RPG game, and you’ll find different ways of playing it beyond the usual intended method, as well as bugs and glitches that can be exploited to make the game easier, harder, or play completely differently.
WoW Classic being much more of an RPG than Retail WoW (Which I would describe as more of an Action RPG with the emphasis on the Action rather than the RPG) has these exploitable min/maxable mechanics.
Creating the twink itself is a challenge in and of itself, due to trying to get all the gear before you accidentally ding beyond your level bracket.
When you’ve finally completed your twink, you reap the reward by playing the game on God mode for a bit, satisfying that power fantasy that many people have.
People who have played Skyrim before may be aware of various glitches that make you OP, e.g: the fortify alchemy enchant => fortify restoration potion cycle you can use to create truly OP gear.
People like to find novel ways of playing things, twinking is one such example.
Other examples could include:
- 122333 challenge in Final Fantasy 12.
- Nuzlocke challenge in Pokémon games.
- That one guy who hit max level in mists of pandaria as a pandaren by sitting in the panda starting zone picking herbs for months.
- Solo leveling a warrior in WoW Classic you absolute massochist.
Irony-o-meter off the charts!
Mostly to flex over new players who innocently join BGs.
On the other hand, having fewer mechanics and escapes/engages forces you to min/max over the trivalest of things, making you learn to exploit the environment and your character at the best you can, especially against other thinks.
Spotted the baddie.
Tell me how exactly is it easy to close the gap when a twink rogue can one-shot anything that’s not a warrior/paladin?
^this.
The main reason people twink is the feeling of superiority they get from it. Any other arguments you see in this thread are either wrong or lies (or a different wording of the same thing, like for example Xarsanity below me).
twinking can be a fun side-project and its fun to pwn nubs.
Whats with all the name calling lol… How insecure are you rtards. Its not like its only hore thst twink. Everyone can make their char the strongest they can be in a twink bracket. Its not about killing undergeared ppl. Its about being at your strongest and what you can accomplish. Whats with these ppl asuming things without facts… Fkin snowflakes…
Wait for it…
People are often very bad in pvp, so they twink to demolish people with an unfair advantage, and knowing gamers we’re a competetive bunch and if we can get any benefit over others its worth our time
