Mhm, I remember those speculations, but the Rift of Aln has been anchored more properly in lore than any other places. And it’s proven to be true as well, because it seems like it was N’Zoth that gave Azshara her powers.
Uldaman was also a speculation, looking at the maps of ancient Kalimdor, but that’s been a speculation without too much confirmation.
In regards of the prison, it’s been a bit back and forth with those and it’s been rather lacking on lore on that side. I think it was roughly on with Yogg-Sarron that it started speaking about prisons, and only in Mists was it confirmed that only Y’shaarj was killed by the Titan, while the other Old Gods was imprisoned since they couldn’t be killed strait out.
Since Cata the games developers have been force feeding their preferred path through the game. An example of this is Redridge Mountains which basically once you have completed the quest line becomes obsolete devoid of any substance. Just an empty landscape. And so phased content and hand held game play became the norm. Gone was the freedom to play the way you wanted and to explore and adventure and make your own way through the game. The developers were dead set on you doing things their way and their way only.
Enter all the various missions, Garrison quests, artefact weapons and you see less and less freedom and more and more straight jackets that you have to follow. The story is set, the linear path placed before you and the challenges whether you like dungeons etc or not have to be undertaken or you aint getting anywhere.
Scaling was the last nail in the coffin as it basically destroyed all zonal progression and freedom to challenge mobs at various levels to suit your own ambition. Sadly the whole map becomes a generalisation and you realise you are playing the developers game and not your own.
Jumping jelly fish sounds very much like the Atari game from Cata. And man did I hate that. In fact from controlling tanks and driving through hoards of mobs to space ships and jet propelled mages I have long detested the way gimmicks and phasing have destroyed the game.
For me the game should focus only on you the player and your character and you should be free to do just what you like. As it is in Classic and up to Lich before they destroyed it.
So for me I’m not moaning about making it less hard. Trust me this game aint hard. But there is a difference between challenge and fun. Between grind and enjoyment. I have no problem with any form of challenge and grind as long as I feel the reward is worth while. But more important in any MMO I have to feel I am doing all this to better my character and hopefully create a unique character, one I am proud of.
Restricting flying or any movement can be a good game plan but it should not be gated behind paths set by the creators that form a gated linear challenge. Time was we could choose our own path to how we achieved so much in this game. Now it is simply a single route and you have to do the set gates or you get nowhere. Like the current gearing system which is the reason why the game is struggling so much. Players did use to have so much more choice.
And that aint 'ard to understand. It’s very easy to understand. Shame the game developers are so blinkered they wont let players have fun any more doing it their own way. Narrow minded is what I call it with the ultimate result… boring.
TBH, I find the amount of entitled posts here astounding, especially those that say they speak for the player base. (No they do NOT speak for me).
Easiest solution they have available, rather than moan about content locks or not getting things right now now, just unsubscribe. Please… just go away, let those who enjoy the game play it.
however no doubt this will lead to a ‘me and 90% of the player base will be gone’ reply…
And to those talking about how great classic will be, how much of an improvement it’ll be, etc… well you think the grind is bad NOW???
Oh i look forwards to the forums when classic is released…
Aha like any child on tantrum, let them. And they will come back and pretend like it never happened once they see what the “player” base think’s of there way.
I am fine with pathinfider as it is.I play at my own pace and speed.
I was watching preachs stream and one of the raiders was told;“you know the pet battle give insane amount of rep”,and he was like i would rather grind 10 more days then to demenen my self to do pet battles.
Mind you it’s not officially confirmed by Blizzard, but a speculation amongst the lore nerds. It’s not specifically mentioned in the Stormrage novelle but it seems to indicate strongly that way.
It is not about wanting things easier, it is the fact that we want fun and engaging content, not content that is an all out slog for pathetic rep.
Most people would be fine if Blizzard brought back the option to earn rep by getting a tabard and running a dungeon and/or raid.
As for account bound items, I agree it should be, after all we have how many new races now? If you want to level up alts it will take forever in the current setup.
And the jellyfish quest was bugged, hence Blizzard had to hotfix it.
As i am aware this was only a thing in Wrath and Cata.So i dont know who those “most” are.I saw alot of people who played since wod,mop and even legion not liking pathfinder. The only thing that wrath brought was that you could equip a tabard for each faction(undercity, thunder bluff, orgimmar, steemwheal) and then grind the rep with Wrath or Cata dungeons.
I should really have on c/p my overview of each patch since Isle of Quel’danas having daily rep capp(how many daily quest where availibel to you) so this concept is nothing new.We even had worse rep grind/timegating in Legion with Broken Isle, not to mention Surromar was 2x timegated/repgated,at the start of the expansion, and latter on with the Argus, saber mount. Also argus was timegated
You earned more xp in Legion than you do in BFA, you had a variety of ways to get the xp in Legion. In the 2 new zones you are pretty much stuck with the dailies and the few other quests at a measly 87 xp, which equals a slog.
As it was back in Legion. You didnt have the mission rep tokens at the start of Legion for Surromar, nor any other faction. You got those latter on and once you where exalted with them on the mission table.
And no you did daily wq as it is now.Latter on they gave more and incressed them.
I wish some of you would understand the difference between something that is actually difficult, which can be fun sometimes and something that is simply tedious and never fun.
I want to grind rep to fly, but I’d like to actually grind it now instead of an hour daily.
Rare spawns are too rare for the reward they give, they give basically nothing. Like literally the biggest rares that have like 4-6 million hp reward absolutely nothing.
Older reputations should be account wide just for completion sake like at the start of a new expansion the old ones reputations would be unlocked account wide, this would make changing your main every few expansions better while not trivializing the rep gains of current content,
Ok let’s see this great MMO of hours, MMO’s are notorious for being grindy yet in WoW I can’t grind other than gold.
You are literally comparing 8.2 that has daily content and no grinding to Classic that has relatively little daily content but A LOT of grinding with even more grinding being optional (raiding materials). You yourself are comparing apples to oranges saying they’re the same thing.
And how is this making the game great? Is flying a new and never-before heard feature or something that we’ve had for over a decade now?
No, it’s an unecessarly tedious grind (due to extremely poor design) that was delayed for no reason at all and now time-gated for a feature that we had to unlock several times.
Your point is that somehow this “grind” is less then the 5k gold for TBC?and grind the reputations with the factions to buy the mount’s,lol.
Even in Wrath buying it for gold took some time, not to mention if you had an alt and wanted to spend 1k gold on it.Not to mention to unlock for that alt epix flying.Give me a break.
Same as with Cata. And Mop had those serpent egg hunt you had to grind/find.(never mind the pain too unlock it with, you guessed it rep grind with cloud serpents).
It was always a grind, and it was always rep gated, and they where always daily capped how many you can do,since Isle.(thats since tbc)
Farming gold was never a time-gated activity. Comparing farming currency which you could do in numberless ways and at whatever pace you felt like to the current reputation grind really confirms how confused you are.
You really have no clue what you are talking about. You had to rep grind in tbc for factions(and you had 4-5 dailys per day). And on top of that you had to gold grind it.
Also alot of those zone’s dont allow you to fly in them once you even bought flying but you had to go do them.
The only expansion that made flying a complete joke was Cata.
It’s the way BFA is time gating things that’s the problem. I have played since Vanilla and I remember patches were pretty much open for people to grind out however quickly they wanted something.
You could grind your rep by farming items for repeatable quests and farm mobs for example.
Right now everything is locked behind a wall. That’s the issue, not that people want things easier.
To unlock flying in TBC you needed gold, not reputation. I don’t know why you decided we needed reputation to unlock flying in TBC. Yeah, you are really confused.
