Why is it so hard to find a group for dungeons?

Yeah, we’re not talking about raids here. I know I’ll have to go Enh DPS or just fully respec to Resto once I hit raids. As far as dungeons are concerned, however, I’m enjoying it.

And yeah, the “rotation” is just Earth Shock and autos, but then again the warrior rotation is just Sunder Armor and… that’s it. Pop Revenge when it lights up, use Taunt when something isn’t attacking you. You could argue that warrior has other useful spells such as Demo Shout, Shield Bash, Shield Block, Thunder Clap etc, but then we’ll also have to mention shaman totems and Purge, and I’ve often found myself far more comfortable for having these than having Shield Bash.

As for gearing and mana issues - the gear problem is solved with SM farm so you can get a full mail set inb4 you reach 40. The mana issues are solved by keeping mana/rejuv potions for extreme scenarios. Since tauren is the best choice for shaman tank and it has +15 herbalism, it made sense for me to pick it & alchemy. Not only do I have troll’s blood, fort and defense up all the time (which basically makes me just as tanky as a warrior), but I also have my own supply of mana/rejuv pots.

In conclusion, I honestly find shaman tanking to be easier and more comfortable than warrior tanking, as long as people are attacking and CCing the right targets. But I know that this will only last until raids, sadly…

I’m hoping for Classic+ when we can ask for Cata-like Unleash Elements so we can have a taunt (the only time in WoW’s history when Enh actually had a taunt) and for a doubling or at least 50% boost to the armor talent (because it’s not fair to have the same 10% armor talent in case shamans use a lower armor type).

Well, since posting I’ve found some groups, but it is still a massive chore.

I can be spamming for hours before finding one.

There are other issues though, so many SELFISH people, who only want X boss, and will only join if they can reserve X item. People who leave as soon as someone else leaves the group etc.

It’s a sad state, It’s actually put me off bothering a little bit I have to be honest. I wasn’t going to play classic at all but I figured to play through it mostly solo because I hadn’t done it in so long. I enjoyed the levelling, but when it comes to end game it’s full of selfish people who won’t do anything but the 1 boss they need.

I kinda get it and don’t at the same time. If I need 1 item from a dungeon I will do the whole dungeon, not just demand 1 boss and quit if everyone else doesn’t give it.

I may just wait for PvP and gear up in that.

Also, yeah, tanks are extremely hard to find.

“I’m on one of the most populated PvP servers yet I am still struggling to find a group.”

The problem right there, there are too many healers on high pop servers. I experienced the same problem until I transferred to a medium server. Now people whisper me all the time if I want to join groups.

I’m late to the party, but here is my 2 cents.

Indeed, after the initial rush of questing focused heroes, there are a little too many healers now. My mage finds groups easier. That could, theoretically, allow you to play as damage dealer, though. (Even had parties where the priest topped it. Quite possibly because of the paladin judgement.)

Don’t try to focus on LFG. People randomly start groups and you may have to wait quite a bit. Do some quests, fishing or other kind of activity while keeping an eye on the global LookingForGroup. (You can even play another character.)

On my realm LFG often doesn’t help, people are more likely to just spam LFM and you’re supposed to whisper them.

Starting your own party isn’t terribad either.

On my Details Rockbitter was under-performing to Flametongue by 1/3rd.
Using Shield and Dagger, only Windfury is outperforming Flametongue when I am lucky with procs - but overall Flametongue was dealing more dps for me up till I got WF.

Basically: Melee/spell cleave + Lack of tanks. Also people are more focused on their own progress and care a lot lot less about others! Why I quit tanking 3-4 times in 55 levels? Ninja looters and general disrespectful conduct of some. Worst was 3 ninja brd run and the 4th? Guild member! Final point : Guild groups or no/bad groups? Staring into Lfg 7-8 hours a day while posting the same message at repeated intervals sure seems like a bundle of joy! So go vanilla get a guild and guild group your way to where you want to be.

Oh god…

I’m a tank and and I usually still make the group myself because often theres no instant invite and I’ve had some bad experiences of being invited to a group of low level noobs.

roll a warrior, show you’re willing to tank, do a semi ok job at it.

you’ll not only get invites to dungeons, you’ll be added to friends lists and people will whisper you to come do dungeons as soon as you log in.

Join a guild with active members, problem solved.

90%(percentage taken from where the sun dont shine) of all dungeon runs that happens, are not pug groups, but guild groups.

Yes? The guy is giving you info, yet you’re immediately jumping to the part where you can attempt some sort of an insult or a berating comment.

Rockbiter isn’t always the go-to enhancement while leveling, and it’s definitely NOT the go-to enhancement while DPSing in a dungeon. There are different factors such as armor and spell rank that actually play a bigger role than raw math on paper.

Simply, make your own group, am a hunter and so far I got to every dungeon I wanted and it is usually through making own group. Cant wait to make that Full brd run

You are on hardcore server playing with harcore players. That’s a typical behaviour from them. They value their time over other people. I could only suggest you to find some decent guild. Or transfer to a small server, if that’s still possible.
