there are classic era servers, so maybe they could make tbc and wolkt too era servers that stay in these expansions
Probably because players were talking about classic and asking for classic.
Probaby because TBC fans even though in large numbers…compared to Classic and Wotlk screamers are the most quiet ones, something like a middle child, nobody notice us.
The cynic in me says it’s to stretch out the amount of time people will spend playing Classic again. Plenty of people want TBC, but feel like they might as well play Classic in the meantime and get a character ready for it. But maybe I’m wrong.
This is still not an argument against letting these servers simple saty TBC Era server once they reach the “end” of TBC.
This would be great - and give us HC TBC servers now you’re at it, please.
You’ll get TBC servers in a year or so.
“Why no make tbc era servers?”
Chill, we find out 2026
We’re talking TBC ERA servers here. Do you know something we don’t?
Hoping they will put in at least one era server for TBC and WotLK as time goes on, really unfair to not imo. Does it matter if the population isn’t bursting? Didn’t they say at the beginning they’d do classic even if only 5 people played it?
I hope to god we get TBC era
They’re avoiding the question by repeating Blizzard’s ambiguity on what will happen afterwards.
Because every era server is a promise to keep it up eternally. That involves periodical updates to the client and server software, as software rot and can’t just be left unpatched. Those updates cause bugs, so you need testers to test updates and developers to fix bugs. So basically it requires constant spendings to upkeep those servers.
Another aspect is game economy. Server is not changing and it might mean weird things to the game economy, like constant inflation which might prevent new players to ever success in that environment. I think it’s already happening in classic era to some extent. And classic has huge gold sinkhole for respecs which is not present in TBC (because respec cost in TBC is kind of trivial), while at the same time TBC has huge gold pump machine in the form of Island daily quests.
It is not an issue for seasonal servers, because they eventually got deleted or merged in some way and they usually are popular enough, so income from those subscriptions covers the expenses. But era servers are different.
So to make era server promise, they need to be 100% sure that there will always be enough players on those servers to keep financing their upkeep. Now I have no idea about TBC servers, I’d love to have them myself, but I have no data. It is entirely possible that TBC and WotLK servers will be popular enough forever. But that’s not a given.
Anyway that’s my thoughts about why era servers were not just introduced. Though I think they will be introduced eventually. Periodically releasing fresh servers sounds like a good bucks making machine with minimal effort. And it means that, say, TBC and WotLK versions need to be supported anyway, so I think that we will end up with era servers of all three major expansions and fresh servers giving new blood to those servers every few years.
You confirm my suspicion about this green lettered guy.
1., I’m sure Blizzard still needs to work out how to offer 89 versions of WoW without having 89 clients with 89 add-on versions on websites and so on.
2., Getting to max in BC or WLK still takes quite a bit of time (about the same as Classic, mind you there are no heirlooms around), and those expansions are even more about 60+ and 70+ only. It makes most sense to give players time to get there. There is also anti-boosting, so playing with friends while levelling is not practical anymore, BC and WLK is solo / pug game only.
Yeah lets have 100 classic servers just relax and wait 1 year for tbc
Bitter, much.
As normal Anniversary servers proceed into TBC it would not be hard to let the HC servers simpy proceed as well - this would not even make more versions, as the old Classic version is not there any more.
Last I looked, blizz did not run the addon wbsites.
We know, that’s what we ask for.
Groups were still allowed last I looked.
Why not let people ask for and enjoy the version they like, and leave the trouble to Blizz - It’s their job. It’s what we pay them to do.
tbc and wotlk is the worst versions mate
Your opinion, and why should other not be allowed to play them if they think it’s fun?
I think PvP is a hopeless waste of time, still I advocate for RP-PvP servers to be made.
Help other people have fun too.
I completley missunderstood what you where talking about. Mb buddy, what i am concerned about is that they just make era servers. It makes more profit for blizz and enjoyment for the consumers. This aniversary servers is sort of a waist of time for the sake of you probably loose the chars after. We get no information if we can copy over the characters to era like first time etc.
Yes the silence from Blizz as to what will happen is a major P.I.T.A.
