Debuffs have no school. Only Spells and Damage do. So what you looking at is Spell’s school, and/or Damage’s school.
Spell School divine abilities in categories, which then can be modified by some other abilities/talants (+Crit on Fire spells as example) and which go onto CD if ANY spell same category Interrupted by Kick/CS/Pummel/etc.
So, as example, if Shaman get kick in Healing Wave cast, he still allowed to cast spells from Fire/Frost schools (Fire/Frost shocks, maybe Fire totems also). Or if Priest get kicked while casting Mind Blast, he get ‘CD from kick’ only on hist Shadow spells, but not on Holy spells.
Each debuff have word on it’s tooltip which says ‘Magic/Curse/Poison/Desease’. If they don’t have it, you can consider it Physic type. Wowhead also show that type on debuff’s tooltip, and also wowhead have ‘Dispell type’ in Spell details. Take a look at frostbolt spell and compare it with Chastie or with rend, for example.
If you ask ‘Can rogue defend himself by activating CoS BEFORE chastie’ - my answer is: Yes. But I’am not sure about that, such interactions, well, is not simple to remember.

it’s a magic effect that can be resisted and dispelled vs a reliable defense tool like wotf escape artist or stone form or a highly oppressive offensive tool vs stealth teams in the form of perception it’s not even in the same ball park.
Why are you whining about this change like geez, all this premades ally did in the start while horde sit 1 hour queue to face full premade and get 0 honor, you should be decked out in PvP gear already, you can literally just sit back and enjoy arenas and chill.
And this alliance has bad racials is once again such a meme, like human racial is not broken for rogues, or every warrior on ally side goes gnome instantly, or dwarf for priest etc.

Gnome’s racial can be resisted, it’s not nearly as good as Wotf especially considering how many warlocks and priests there will be in ladder.
There will be alot of mages rogues warriors and druids too vs which escape artist is pretty pretty useful
im never going alliance again , i dont wanna play with bunch of classic andys . every friend i knew who was chill and down to earth guy changed to horde in TBC

The panic is because alliance on pvp servers that had healthy pops 2 weeks ago are watching the snowballing death of their servers unfold before their eyes. B-but, just reroll, amirite?

Why are you bringing dwarves into this??? It’s a completely different debate altogether… no other races were included. And Dwarves only have stoneform which do nothing vs Warlocks mages and priests… so unless you are talking about the PRIEST Abilities, which are a niche category in itself, your comment is absolutely irrelevant.
It’s not NICHE category at all.
You must look at racials ONLY with class. All the races profit different classes well differently. Some make no sense at all, some is HUGE deal change. Like Dwarf warrior make no sense at all, gnome warrior is strongest combo.
Stop being silly and looking at racials in complete vacuum, it makes no sense, at all.
