Again you seem to think you can decide how someone plays the game, you cant.
What was my arguement? Content hints, it’s all the same, you would be playing the game and xp will be given to you, you dont need to do anything prior to this. Everything else (mostly) would require you to do something first. You cannot do anything other than walk around the start zone without getting XP.
Discover new zone, XP, kill something, XP, do a quest, XP. It just happens you cant plan it or aim for it.
I wouldn’t have guessed! But honestly, look at what you want to do. You want a time consuming experience, that’s fine, that’s great, I’d be happy to waste some time with you.
I’ve always wanted to be playing a draenei shaman, god knows I’ve said that enough, but ive had to wait till now. As soon as I can I’ll be creating that character and itll be my main through to a wrath era server where I’ll be staying.
Even if I could boost a draenei I wouldnt as itll cheapen the experience for me. I want to play it through properly and enjoy it.
you want to play it through, and regardless of the boost you can.
But if someone else feels its maybe better for their community/bubble/group/gang/friends to take a boost then it is their business.
I’m not deciding, I’m merely stating the facts. The game devs back in 2007 decided how someone plays the game and how much time you would have to invest to be able to participate in and complete a vast swathe of the content both before and after reaching max level.
you would be playing the game and loot/gold/rep will be given to you, you don’t need to do anything prior to this.
what do I need to do before I can get level 10? Get level 9…
I dunno other than complete quests (hand-crafted content) and kill mobs…
Also, levelling consists of more than just starting zones
But the problem is that others doing it also cheapens the experience for me. Artificially handicapping yourself doesn’t feel great to me. I, as a competitively minded player, will always take the path of least resistance so I beg blizzard to take those easy paths away from me so I don’t feel obliged to follow them.
And btw, this mindset is more common then you’d think. This isn’t just a me thing
If you dont want to take the boost then just take it on a class you cant stand and a race you cant stand then delete the character so you dont see it. Problem solved.
You know this is a multiplayer game right? An MMO? Not a single player RPG.
What other people do DOES affect your game experience.
A large amount of content in this game is multiplayer content. If there are no one in the world leveling (thanks to paid boosts) then that will of course have a huge impact on anyone leveling a character. Part of this game is interacting with other people. That’s literally part of the gameplay.
For example, paid server transfers were implemented by blizzard. On my server, we had a healthy population, but since players were given the choice to pay for transfer, 90% of the population transferred away from the server. Now I rarely see other alliance players in the open world. There are never any dungeon pugs. There aren’t other players in stormwind so horde just sit in stormwind and kill alliance players when they log in.
The hundreds of players who left the server, that’s “someone else feels its better for them to buy a transfer”. But are you really gonna claim that it "DOES NOT affect my game experience?
Even beyond just not having enough players to do content with, it also effects your experience on a purely psychological level. It doesn’t feel investing your time into an aspect of the game when you know that someone else can pull out their credit card and speed right past you. It also can make players who did the content before the paid service to skip it was added feel like they wasted their time and were made to complete an artificial grind that blizzard had always intended to add catch up mechanics to from the beginning. This problem also applies to catch up mechanics that aren’t paid services.
This is a well written post. I am in favor of the boost as I don’t enjoy the leveling process. As for the bots, it doesn’t take them more then a week to level to 60 and as it is it takes about 6 months for a bot to get banned.
That doesn’t make it good for the game unfortunately
that’s a whole different problem all together. Banning of bots should be more regular. Even with the ‘they need to make enough money before they get banned’ point aside, making it quicker for bots to do what they’re gonna do isn’t good by any means.
If a boosted bot character can make more than the boost costs within the time it would have taken them to level then the boost will aid bots.
Ouch getting left behind is gonna hurt, maybe you could find a better server and you know, level a character?
Jokes aside, if you have nobody to play with on your server why stay? It’s a multiplayer game and you enjoy levelling…so go find a server with people you can with and level a character.
I’m saying you are are saying that transfers left your server vacant. So given you like levelling and want a multiplayer experience, why not find a new home and level a character.
And why exactly would you want quiet forums. Do you hate different opinions? Do you want the forums to be deleted? What’s the point of a forum that is quiet…
Also, nothing more childish then trying to flex that what you want is going to be in the game but I suppose kids will be kids now won’t they
I’m not salty, I think I’ve done quite a good job of articulating my thoughts and delivering my arguments in a level-headed and well-reasoned manner.
Having a different opinion = entitled
rule no.1 of fascism: Delegitimise your opposition by labelling them with undesirable / negative terms such as racist, sexist, entitled, bigoted etc… rather than provide legitimate arguments back. This avoids the need to actually have an argument and justifies the shutting down of the conversation.
