I guess I’m too late to join Season of Mastery, but will original WoW get a re-release so we can journey from 1-60 & go to MC again for a phase one-type thing? (not overly bothered to repeat the world-buff shenanigans).
It is not unlikely there will be a new season, once SoM ends. The name “season” would be a weird choice otherwise. That might happen around November. Or not.
Thanks for the response. I’d definitely be open to starting ‘fresh’ again. Having played through TBC classic, I preferred original WoW somewhat. The talent trees were bizarre, but it was definitely a community driven game & a very enjoyable experience.
There are still the classic servers, that are not seasonal and most likely will stay up forever. Playerbase is quite small, so grouping randomnly is not really an option (with guilds it is).
Season of mastery was supposed to last certain time and they announced that after it closes…sometimes this year… you are able to transfer your character to TBC&WOTLK classic and continue there if you want.
There will come another Season of Mastery servers, but it can be anything, not necessarily classic.
So do the servers specifically say SoM, or classic? I though it was one & the same, I didn’t realise there was SoM AND classic servers?
It’s likely (but speculation only) that they will release new Fresh next year to have a release each year. It could be either spring or “back to school” date.
Era realm are an option but all content is released, not only MC and most players are 60 with very few leveling so the experience would be different than a typical fresh launch.
No there wont and community dont want to, if u join an “era” server it will totally feel like a fresh experience, we are too few as a community to be divided yet again between fresh/era. Trust me pick a realm in classic era and u wont regret it. U will also skip the kind of toxicity “be the 1st”. We got no bots/gdkp/boosters, but dont get me wrong u can always ask for help from a higher lvl, and u will always find some1 to play/clear the dungeon/quest. And once SoM is shut down for good, we will also have BG pops almost 24h, and more guilds joining for pve content, whole game will get much more vivid, not that there is not any activity atm. Anyway stop reading my post and start playing already! We are waiting for u! ^^
There is SoM and Era. You can get to both server types via the Classic client. SoM can be found as “seasonal” in the list. The rest are Era servers, many of which are connected. Neither have that many players right now, but both have some. SoM ends soon anyway, as you know.
I’m not sure why people are raising your hopes by saying that there will be fresh Era realms, I’m 99% sure there won’t be.
There will be fresh SoM realms and you will be able to transfer off the current ones to either Era or the Wrath realms as they will at the end of the SoM cycle in November and not before, well maybe a week before they close SoM down.
If it helps: Classic ERA never went anywhere. Its still running. Create a char there and see if you like it.
My sensus has been on for months, and after pruning it reports: The PVE cluster, on alliance side, has roughly 1100 chars in the 1-59 bracket and 560 chars at level 60. I dont know about the Horde side.
Ally side has something like 5 raiding guilds and a number of smaller guilds if im not completely off.
Thanks for the replies. I’ve now noticed the tabs that separate SoM & Era servers. Think I’ll just start to level a new char on Era & see where it takes me.
Choose your server carefully. Pick a server in the PvE cluster for alliance or firemaw for horde.
yes but as a new player (or returning player like me) you will get deleted by R14 / Naxx rogues and shamans 24/7. There is something to be said for fresh vanilla, the BGs were not really made with Naxx gear in mind
Not rly, there is not that many r14, atleast not in same bg so u can get steamrolled. I didnt pvp any at all at bgs, coz my working schedule wont let me be on during bg pop ups, but from ppl i asked feedback is very positive there is also geared balanced and undergeared playing all 2gether, and there is no premades, atleast not in every bg. Also keep in mind u can join raids and gear easyer with t2 ur exactly the same as r14 gearwise.
well thats not my experience. for the last 3 weeks we have won maybe 1 out of 10 games. and i Qed every day. There are plenty of R14 geared people that you see in every game (for some reason). And they seem to Q together. or there are just not enough horde players to add variety.
I could name 4 Rogues and Shamans for you. Then there are Naxx geared raiders. a naxx shaman can pump out 6k in 1.5 GCDs basically one-shotting everyone. I dont see how that will help the game as opposed to making an interesting Alt but to each his own.
My world is about carrying flags with various classes so all those 1-shots matter. I am not complaining and will continue to the point where it is no longer entertaining but new people should know this.
There will, Vanilla is the best wow by far and people will always come back to it.
Odd coz from what i noticed ppl in horde told me the same, there is paladins/rogues/warriors that zerg once in a while and sometimes happens during the evening that there is some ppl queing over and over not coz they are premade but population is limited and u meet em in bgz often. However u can dodge em, if u think they r the whole source of the problem.
so you mean, “what other people told you”. It is simply not what i experienced. Also keep in mind that someone who wins the vast majority of his games may be a lot likelier to think that things are balanced. After all, he will have experienced a few close moments and deaths himself.
At the moment at least you cant avoid anything. there is 1 WSG on during the day from around 1600 and then 2-3 max during the evening.
Remember that my reply was on the topic of “should we have a fresh vanilla server”, in particular on the aspect of the counterargument that “no, because BGs will pop 24/7 in era and it will be fine”.
Now if you want to make a char, level it to 60 and think you will have fun in balanced BGs that pop 24/ based on this assertion, you will find yourself having wasted a lot of time
Ok this is getting out of control now coz the subject was different I have said that indeed we dont need classic coz era feels like fresh if u roll on a realm of ur liking and enjoy the game, and u ended up in bgs or how bad ur win rating is or somethin like that, while i just mentioned that once SoM close there gonna be more bgs and if u want my opinion once SoM closes alliance gonna dominate every bg as they do in SoM, coz SoM phave way more alliance pvpers than horde. We will just have to wait and see, and no i didnt play any bg recently to know exactly what is happening, but still cant justify the " fresh realms please" coz 1 person keeps losing, and
ofc will be fine, i didnt say u will have 100% win rate i said there gonna be more often bg pops o.0.
Disagree. Phase 1 in any given expansion (Classic / TBC) or fresh will always be different than what you are suggesting. Everyone starts on the same playing field.
If I start ‘fresh’ right now on era I will immediately see max level chars in Goldshire strutting in raidgear. Mats on AH will be inflated to reflect high lvl chars buying raid consumables. Lower level professions won’t be promoted like on fresh. etc etc.
Not to mention the number of players that are in the leveling zones will never ever be the same on era compared to a fresh experience.
To answer the OP’s initial question: my bet is that they will restart the whole cycle once Wrath Classic is over and done. Won’t be soon but in a few years when the playerbase on classic- era servers will be almost nothing.
The allure of a fresh start is always present, just look at private servers where ppl just outright stop playing once a server reaches it’s final phase.
My guess is in 2-3 years tops. It remains to be seen if they will re-release Cata Classic but I have my doubts. In Wrath you could see some design choices that are now prominent in retail start to appear, but in Cata everything is almost like it now is in retail. We’ll see.
