With how many community-disliked features tried Ion to get away in BfA?

Serious question. Things they have done which were simply unnecessary or just frustrated the community to no end. Examples:

  • The removed party-features from the Legion Invasions, so you would spend more time doing them
  • The removed Portals in 8.1.5 from Dalaran, so you would spend more time traveling around for no real reason
  • The world scaling and, no matter how much iLV you had, will also scale the monsters with you will spend more time with them.

I think you get the point.
Was there anything else which frustrated the players?

The removal of tier and introduction of azerite gear.

Give guilds back master loot - provided they have been members of the same guild for 6 months.

Removal of pvp vendors, though that’s a legion thing but still Ion’s brainchild.

Nerf the rewards so people spend more time trying to earn it. I am mostly talking about rep rewards which are frustrating in BfA

I start to think that whatever they do we reached a point people will whine about it.

Have you ever been in a top tier guild playing a weaker class and your GM/RL passing always the best loot to the best DPS/heal tank while you remain there to boost the top tier classes ilvl? I have a cutting edge on HFC and m GM was always passing the chest token to mages just in case of WF/Socket while 2-3 of us still had Heroics and by all means, i was parsing over 95 lol. No that was the most abused part of wow.

No i dont want it back, people are playing this game and they should have their own loot.

I agree - but on the other hand, without the constant whining they would just roll over us without any hesitation.

I don’t even understand what do you mean. What party-features?

First of all there were people complaining that game turned into portal hopping simulator. Most of those portals weren’t necessary at all.

A whole lot of people have asked for it since Legion beta. As for ilvl scaling, it’s just a way to solve the problem of quick overgearing the world because of stat inflation. You still get more powerful becasue the curve for monster power grows slower then your power from ilvl. Mobs still die quite quickly.

I’m not frustrated about anything specific to BfA.

dont forget, Ion was the one who made the decision to axe flying until halfway into an expansion, starting with WoD. as one of the main managers, there is probably a lot he has, if not created, signed off on.

never forget the origins of pathfinder…

Forced Personal Loot stands out in particular. It’s a testament to Blizzard’s determination to kill every MMO element of the game and turn it into a single player loot casino.

i think he meant that during Legion, there were add ons or some functionality that let you quickly join groups just by clicking on the wq or some other fast method. people did wq’s in seconds as often some of the more popular wq’s and invasion wq’s would turn into raid sized groups and you’d be done in moments. this ability was removed, or the ability for the add on to work was broken by blizz.

i may be wrong, but i dont recall anyone using the reason that the game was becoming too much like world of portals until AFTER it was announced that blizz were removing them, and people started to defend blizzards decision. so if people were complaining about too many portals for months and years prior to their removal, it wasn’t a fraction of the people annoyed in ONE DAY that they had been removed.
you are right though, many of them weren’t necessary as they were duplicates, but blizz took a mallet to portals, and some of the big ones removed (dark portal, kara, CoT, shrine) were heavily used by people. also, while some of the new portals are welcome (exodar/SMC and northrend dala), the placement of the legion and MoP portals was pretty silly. what also has happened is that more than ever people are forced into org/sw and bfa zone, rather than choosing which city they want. blizz really are missing a trick by not using all of the 13 (15) cities available, rather than just 2 (4).

you are right, and i dont know how to offer suggestions to fix this. blizz just dont seem to be able to balance numbers (except $!!). what i will say though, is that any fix they seem to use, they dont seem to learn from, cause EVERY scaling/squish method currently used to control numbers, the very next expansion we seem to be leaping ahead again. case in point, BfA, after being squished to ilvl265 (legos), some people are already ilvl425+? and we are only 2 tiers in. at this rate we may be hitting ilvl1000 (legos pre squish) again in only 2 expansions time or so.

i sorta envy you. i personally cant get how people cant have SOME issue (and more likely, multiple issues) with BfA. it is just so poorly finished in many aspects.

this!

i never noticed this, but yeah, it wasn’t much, but you could at least sell AP in legion.

tier sets and all of my lovely-looking abilities because they weren’t part of MUH ROTATION oh also the PvP enchants got ruined because of that (#%!( look at this new dreadflame trash we get in bfa and compare it to the GLORIOUS Tyranny/Primal Victory etc. pre-glow nerf  can’t have PvPers feel special now can we

I’m not so sure we’d get anything better the way ActiBlizz operates.

I stopped caring about gear after Cataclysm, but still enjoyed tier set bonuses and the unique look to them for the most part.

Now, there’s no tier set bonuses, and instead there’s this homogenous azerite stuff on gear that doesn’t even look interesting or unique to my class fantasy.
It just added even more onto the feeling that all classes are more or less the same thing, visually and combat wise.
I also miss a whole guild supporting one chosen person to get a legendary item, which was just so cool, both the journey to it, the importance of it all, and the item itself. It was one reason to play the game and be dedicated to your guild, to one day be the “chosen one” and wield the most awesome stuff in the game.

But yeah, balance has to be perfect etc so having fun, imbalanced outliers can’t be had anymore cause everyone has to be special and super strong now no matter what, and we can’t have some class sets look better than others either so let’s make everyone look like dofuses. Yay? :unamused:

this you can thank the people playing the game, there was an immense outcry on people making groups and then use masterloot to ninja items, heck even hardcore mythic guilds used some sort of method to funnel items to their mains, to the extent Blizzard had to do something.

massive BS.
Master loot couldnt be used unless AT LEAST 80% of group was a guild group.

every proper guild used master loot because its how teamwork works, and that’s what raiding is about - teamwork - mutliple people working together and achieving things, its not about jimbo getting a shiny helmet.

and this was the problem, guilds took a few others whit them to get the numbers up, and theese people could not even roll for the items, and it was a problem no question about it, and before that anyone could use master loot when ever they wanted to, even in 5 man dungeons, and the ninja looting was going rampart, the 80% came much later but people still abused it.
