i was on Al’Akir in vanilla and wpvp was never as bad as it is now.
It’s a simple matter of “nothing to do”. Raid content is long cleared and frankly boring. No dungeons to farm. Most people have epic mounts and maxed out professions. Literally nothing else to do. When battlegrounds get released, this will die out. And yeah, it’s annoying to constantly fall victim to groups of 10-15 people.
I agree with all said here, it huge fraction unbalance.
But be aware that it affect also PVE content.
If u have 90/10 ratio which on some servers is.
For example 10 000ppl on server, 9000horde, 1000alliance.
So when you are looking for group for dungeons, raids etc, for Horde is much easier to find group, because there is 9000 horde players and 1000allaince players on that server.
Now add that if alliance find group for lbrs, they go to Black Rock mountain and there is like 50 horde players who are camping.
So, alliance players need much more time to get a group, after that its a 30mins of torture to get to dungeon.
Not to mention if alliance player wants to farm anything or lvl up they constantly get ganked.
So how much more time will alliance players endure and pay for this?
They will all quit in month or two, or move to pve servers.
And there it is, dead pvp servers, where horde don’t have world pvp and they will have long BG queues. So they will pay for that? Don’t think so…
Your crying is legit while our is not? The lag comes from all lvl 60 gaking low level players. So people like you are the reason for the lag yet you cry about it?
I actually think the main part of the lag comes from Bliazzard running addons to hide non-Vanilla features in-game.
Wat?
The servers have fewer continents running, and the majority of the “hidden features” are turned off server side or just client-side UI hacks to remove them.
The lag is simply due to fitting 5x the standard population into a world which isn’t sharded.
In retail each continent can be run by multiple servers as each zone can be seamlessly sharded (noticeable by phasing when crossing a zone boundary).
Classic is probably forced to run in the old “one server per continent” model to prevent the immersion breaking phasing between zones.
This means that anyone in Ironforge, Stormwind or Undercity is going to be affected by server lag when 200 people are spamming AoE at Blackrock Mountain.
The lag is one of the consequences of trying to fit 5X the population on 1 realm and that population playing the game as it was on pservers and not vanilla. The game clearly wasn’t designed for this…at least hundreds of players in 1 zone munching at eachother.
It’s a mixture of both.
The new architecture could probably handle these amounts of players, if only because Blackrock Mountain would end up permanently offloaded to another shard.
Probably. Yet another solution may be to have similar population on the realms as it was in classic, this would make all the other adjustments not needed. But it’s probably too late to talk about this now.
give them sandlol and force them into silithus.
the silithyst must flow!
Its not much fun I agree but instead of just moaning do what I do, play something else instead until they let us transfer.
Have you seen any of those golden Quest helper arrows? I have on several occasions.
Of course the overpopulation is a big part of the expalnation,. but all those mnore or less patchy things hiding all non-Vanilla features are sure not helping any.
When I was bothering to level I used Questie anyway, so even if the quest arrow was enabled I wouldn’t notice.
Oh, I see. I can then tell you that in my leveling journey, which I enjoy immensely and am doing on several alts I have met those Golden Arrows at least a handful of times. And this - and other discrepancies - make me think Blizzard has a humongous number of addons - or something like it running to hide all this. And we all know that addons make for laggy gaming.
Alex, so far I agree with everything you have stated in this thread. Ignore all the “it’s classic, go to PVE” trolls. Most of the people that write this witty banter are mostly little children, or generally unsatisfied nerds with no real life, moral treasure and empathy.
With every day the game becomes worse and worse for them, as the players are leaving. That’s why they are being such douche bags.
Paid server transfer would be enough a fix for this. Let the people who enjoy pvp server stay and have fun and others who dont get to play on normal servers if that suits them more.
Retail players killing classic
they have to make more pve servers first
Some honest questions
-
why you chose pvp server? Was it because your friends was going to play there? Is it because “real men” play on pvp?
-
what did you expect? That your experience somehow will not get ruined by others? Did you really believed that pvp servers is the awesome battles you see on youtube in tarren mill, etc? Thats 0.1% of world pvp situations and you can have that on pve servers as well, or even better in RP servers.

Is this your first MMO? I mean, I did the mistake when I started back in Vanilla wow, my first MMO ever. I payed 80 euro to transfer 4 characters in pve server in TBC and never again looked back.
i respect your message.
ppl need to learn the Mak’gora.
why not go 1v1 in wpvp at times,
me and my friend do this when we encounter 1 guy together in wpvp, we let him fight one of us and the other one will just watch and let both complete their duel of death.
these days these retail kids dont know what real PVP is,
they never played the game where you had this horde/allaince rivalry being fired up all the time
(unlike these 20man “wpvp” groups nowadays)
in vanilla we knew eachother, and the enemy players aswell.
the fire was fierce and still we could stand still next to eachother in respect at times.
classic is a scripted and completed game.
everyone knows what to do, farm, where, etc etc
MAK’GORA !
FOR THE HORDE !
