Wow Classic Anniversary is unplayable

There are too many players and too few servers. Even with the trick of stacking virtual servers or whatever they are called, and even with masspawning mobs on top of each other (which makes a mess of the area) there are certain zones that just have too many players for it’s content. Right now I’m playing in Stranglethorn Vale which is by far the worst so far.

I’ll probably play FFXIV until either a large portion of the players has quit, in frustration, or you start adding more servers. I understand that MS want’s it’s money back ASAP, but doing it by not adding enough hardware has never been the smart way of earning money.

That won’t happen, and happily so.

Today, you are crying that you don’t have enough “space” to complete quests in STV, which is…somehow understandable, the frustration. But keep in mind that this zone was ALWAYS a paint in the…butt for many.

However, if they will add another server or 2 or 3 and after awhile when people will “pause” Classic for other games or until more content is released or … just quit the game, you will be the first to come to this very forums and cry that your server is dead.

STV is just a zone. If you cry over a zone well … that’s bad! You will soon leave it and things will get better because again, STV is the “worst” of them all since the beginning of WoW.

Sometimes, just…sometimes, there is a change that Blizzard is not really after you money but for the experience in the long run.

Don’t get me wrong, they still want your money but …they are willing to make small sacrifices in order for a healthy population in the long run/term.

You dont have to go to the same zone as everyone and every addon tells them. I did some Booty Bay quests and skipped only one from the picked ones.

If you are at the peak of the leveling wave then either wait it our rush ahead  with how many tens of thousand players show up on Census it’s surprising only singular people complain here.

…also a lot of current population will be gone in 1-2 months.

FFXIV is usually played before and after exoansion launch after which most unsubs until next expansion. Right now it’s not that appealing

Sounds almost like WoW Retail.

In retail you either play from start of the expansion to have all the scores and ilvl or you dont play at all. FFXIV is just story driven and the in-between time is boring usually. You can join at any time, get gear super easily and no questions asked.

I always had this problem.
I always suggest a tickbox on the logon screen or so, high or low density layer.

With only one server the option is actually there.
I suppose PvPers and group players want mid-high whereas lone wolves prefer low.

Judging by morning hours the first rush at low levels is over, maybe even a week ago, but I remember that approaching 50 I’ve hit a wall in 2019/2020. Furbolgs in Felwood farmed to non-existence, the cemetery at the WPL southern entrance being completely void of undead but filled with players, stuff like that. Fortunately there are dungeons.

I get the frustration but i suppose the alternative is a dead server. Its no where near as bad as it was on release. Imo i love seeing the server populated, it makes the world feel lived in.
I played the 2019 (a guess) classic release and had to stop playing for a few weeks and i fell behind everyone. And let me tell you that was not fun, couldnt get into dungeons, couldnt get into groups for quests and then i went back to retail. Even now i worry about falling behind, im playing every day but trying to do my professions and make gold instead of rushing to max level
If you are in a zone with a lot of people form a group?
Honestly the alternative sucks

As much as a dislike the amount of players on one server, more layers should have been added .less players per layer.

I started playing wow again when the brought the first classic out, I played a for a few months then took a few months break came back server had been shut down and forced to move to another much bigger one.

Same thing happened in SOD I had a nice little guild/ RP realm it had a nice little community no issues, but blizz shut it down too and made us move to a mega server

Same thing would happen if they had more servers for this I suppose, player number will drop quite a bit at certain points so it stops them having to close quiet servers.

Personally I dislike server jumping, especially when playing on an RP one and getting forcefully moved to an non RP mega realm.

If you think this is anything but a cashgrabfrom blizzards side you’re truly delusional. They didn’t improve things over 20 years, why would they do it now on the re-re-re-re-re-release. Blizzard is not a good dev anymore, wake up and realize it. The sooner you do the happier you will be.

I’ve never done quests faster. I get to a place, /s “your pocket healer is here!!” and start inviting every soul I see. All the numbers start popping quickly and I thanks the folks and move on.

I feel like bumping this…

I never understood why EK people would come over to Darkshore to quest. Sure, it has the mood, but then there is Duskwood.

Oh boy. Sunday 10:30, moved over to Loch Modan / Westfall to ping-pong the two to 18.
Nothing to kill.
It’s not that busy, “only” 1:3 player:spawn ratio or so (10-20 people in the trogg valley). 5:1 if you consider alive. Kinda knew when met a five man group coming out of the tower with the general.

Submitted an in-game suggestion about adding more layers, but anyway.
No wonder that WoW2 has this different tagging and quest system.

Game needs like 3x the layers it has right now to be functional.
Good news is, I’ll never do a single quest past 18, so I won’t complain. Classic WoW is a dungeon lobby for me, especially like this. Healer and tank. (The latter is 14.)

Yep. Turned me off from playing completely.

As a player who never got to experience the classic era, this is the reason i love playing hc anniversary. It just feels as a world, not a single player game like retail - you just know everywhere you go there is something happening, something crafted by real people, not just a scripted event - even trying to grind a mob becomes your management decision.
I played war within story and left because i see no point in grinding gear/collect things. there is no adventure for me.

Not a bad idea

Things have been alright for me but I’m still in the lower levels. First two weeks finding an ore node was like spotting a unicorn but now that the main horde has passed I pretty much have Elwynn all to myself

So in short: try again a little later.

Hows it unplayable ? Theyre mega servers designed with maximum population in mind so theyre not gnna shrink too much.

I love classic cata but i still have toons on anniversary servers bc a redux is what i want.

I got to lvl 60 too late in the phases for naxx. This time i will be running it in droves. Same for tbc content.

You complaining or even thinking the servers will die is incorrect bc they’re megaservers with at least x 6 the pop that the original classics had on, therefore if they drop its fair to assume they’ll remain busy due to the fact there is only one pve and one pvp server the 3rd is hardcore.

So have fun wishing diehard players get bored lol.

Try getting on a different layer.

Come to the dead realms  we need people

Blizz just confirmed that the only way to level up on Vanilla is by Dungeon Grinding.

You’re actually whining and crying about there being too many players in an MMO area aight L take

Also, more servers? Have you seen how many realms classic era has? Way too many which are now mega empty and only a small handful of realms are full/super active.

Quest elsewhere if you can’t get a group to help you in the jungle
