WoW Classic - chance to critical hit is bugged

My main character in wow classic (Nileen - Warlock) is bugged, in the last 3 raids it had improper critical hit chance. I have noticed that I have 10% less chance to hit then it should be. For example yesterday in AQ40 I dealed 23% crit chance, with gear that gives me 6%, with buffs (10% Onyxia, 5% Song Flower, 3% Dire Maul Tribute), + My talents gives 5%. On 6th of september I was in Molten Core where I dealt 5,5% crit at all (I was without World Buffs - but with the same gear and talents) .

RNG /10char

It’s a chance. If you cast 100 spells and you get no crits the 101st spell still have the same chance as the first.

Have you never got more crits than that? If you had data for all casts you ever made I bet you that its accurate.

I guess it could also be bugged. Weirder things have happened. But you have no reason to believe that right now. Need more data. There are also other variables in the weird hit system in Classic.

RNG / bad luck

bad luck 3 different raids in a row ?

The way it works you can be unlucky and have bad RNG every single raid for months even. It’s very unlikely, but it’s theoretically possible. 20% for example does not guarantee that you will crit once every 5 hits. Just like a 20% chance droprate on an item does not guarantee that it will drop in 5 kills.

How bad luck are talking about? How many casts?

Yesterdays AQ40: 177x Shadow Botls - 23,5% crit (I had Onyxia buff, Song Flower, DMT, 6% from gear, 5% from destruction talents)

Last Molten Core (6th of september): 109x Shadow Bolts - 5,7% crit (I had 6% crit on my gear and 5% crit from destruction talents)

I have noticed the same thing happen but it’s just RNG, honestly caster DPS in general is more RNG than melee because:

  1. Casting takes longer than swinging 2 one handers
  2. Melee have higher crit chance fully buffed.

It’s just RNG I don’t think it’s bugged a few days ago in BWL I got off 14 shadowbolts on Ebronoc 12 hits and 2 crits with 30% crit chance then on Flamegor I crit with almost every spell and came close to pulling threat.

Similar experiences in AQ also I’ve had fights on Princess where I barely crit then on Ouro almost every cast was a crit for 4k+

I don’t pay too much attention to the logs when playing a class like Lock because it just seems like a roll of the dice get unlucky and hit for 1.5k-1.7k or crit a lot and do 4k per cast. I prefer to check my performance by making sure I got the same or more shadowbolts off than the other locks in the raid that’s a better way of checking your performance and taking RNG out of the equation.

What is your hit?

My hit chance is 11%, RNG which is downsizing my crit chance for 10% / bad luck ? How does the RNG work ?

Not saying there is nothing wrong, but have you considered that bosses (lvl 63) have a certain amount of magic resistance (don’t know how much though)?

Maybe I am wrong, but damage spells can be partially resisted ( for 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the damage), so you should not count those spells that hit but were partially resisted in your calculations. I think if you remove those the numbers will add up more coherently.

Other warlocks from my team have 10% crit more, and I had earlier too. I would like to hear from Blizzard reason for this.

Try again with a bigger sample size instead of 100 shadowbolts. How about you cast a couple thousand and get more accurate results.

Spierbundel I have better idea, just stop giving advices.

Ok man just trying to help educate the dumb but seems like you would prefer to remain dumb.

First you should finish school before you try to educate anyone.

Coming from someone who thinks 300 is enough of a sample size? You need AT LEAST 10000.

If you know about the size of sample, so maybe you will explain me how does the RNG works ?
