This is the issue! When people go online and donāt see a living soul, because servers are not merged big enough - people simply dont go queing for BGs!
You need to make the world alive, by merging the servers, so that it feels alive - and makes people want to play!
imagine if every player had their own layer, and you never meet other people, you are simply not motivated to spend a shi1tload of time inside that game, when you see no other people around!
Could somebody please explain to me if / how BG activity is the measure of a realms life / livelyness / wat to call it?
I log on, level, see lots of people levelling, make groups for hard quests, speak to people and are spoken to by other people. Get buffs and give buffs, trade, use AH etc, etc, but I do not enter a BG ā¦ what then? I see groups of level 60 in instances. Is a realm only alive when BGs happen?
Actually I think that all EU-English servers partake in the same BG pool, Thereās just not enough players interested in this particular aspect of the game, Iām afraid.
It could be that the Classic Era players are mostly of the PvE kind. This is me speculating and thinking aloud. I do not know anything.
And I cannot see how Blizzard can do anything about it. Forcing people to join BGs is surely not an option
They only merged two of the three German PVEs and left one alone for some weird reason. Also, RP-PVE servers were not merged and the French one is also alone, afaik.
Even worse: All European servers are in the same Pool, including all English, German, Russian, Spanish and French servers (PVE, PVP, RP - all of them).
Yeah, I said somewhat earlier that I knew next to nothing about the non-English realms. Strange disposition with the German servers. They should be merged.
But the RP-PvE - at least the English one is quite vocal in itās resistance to a merge. Leave it alone and offer free transfer to everybody is my solution.
I repeat myself: The optimal solution for EU-English realms (clusters) would be 1 PvE, 1 PvP and 1 RP-RPvE. And free transfer for everyone in a limited period.
Well this at least makes me suspect that my speculation:
is right.
They seem to have realized and done something. What more could they do?
I think it is less a case of Classic Era players being the PvE kind and more an issue that noone queues for the BGs, because they can see no BGs are happening, so they donāt bother queuing or they choose not to as they donāt want to sit and wait in an endless queue.
Very possible too - as a PvE player Iām so not an expert here But it seems to me that the PvE realms are more populated; I lack specific numbers, just my gut feeling.
And I am not normally a defender of Blizzā actions, but Iād like to know what (more) they should have done for the BGs?
I donāt think much more can be doneā¦ BGs are fully player driven, if thereās not enough people active to keep them running, they will not get started. If population starts to pick up to a more healthy level, they will start running again perpetually.
I do wonder if thereās a way we can all communicate across the different server clusters thou, encourage everyone to queue for whatever BG is the chosen one in the weekends, that may alleviate some of the Era PvPer blues.
