WoW Classic Version 1.13.7 PTR is Now Available

Today, we’ve opened the WoW Classic Public Test Realm (PTR) to test version 1.13.7 of WoW Classic. In this upcoming version, we intend to reduce the spell batching delay.

There are numerous class abilities and spells from Original World of Warcraft that were re-implemented in WoW Classic with spell batching in mind, and we initially expect bugs or adverse consequences with spell batching reduced. In this PTR, testers have an opportunity to join us in finding such issues. Raids and battlegrounds are available in this PTR to facilitate testing in a wide variety of game content.

  • Initially, the spell batch window is set to 10 milliseconds on the 1.13.7 PTR, a reduction from the 1.13.6 live window of 400 milliseconds.

Please use the in-game bug reporter (default hotkey: mouseover+F6) in the PTR to submit your bug reports or feedback on abilities with spell batching reduced.

When logged into the PTR, you can mouse over any item, spell, or talent and press the assigned hotkey to initiate a bug report for that item or spell. Bug reports created in this way include valuable metadata about the spell, your talents, and your player-state when the bug is submitted.

If you’ve unbound your “Open Bug Report” hotkey, you can rebind it in Keybindings -> PTR.

Thank you for testing WoW Classic with us!

Haha, after the Classic is practically over you fixed problem that many left game for, Is this just bad joke? This was reason i left wow at the BWL end. @Blizzard, you was not prepared, i must notice that Shadowlands is great btw, but Classic was biggest fail with bugs, lags changed game, changed Difficulty of Raid BOsses etc etc etc.

Excellent timing on batching removal; just in time for TBC.

Classic wasn’t a fail just for the usual people who are unable to be content with anything and have to react to everything with negativity.
That’s not a fix because spellbatching was demaned by many as part of original classic. It’s a great change though.

This isn’t the solution to the problem we wanted. People wanted batching to replicate the unique behaviors that batching permitted. 400ms was authentic, yes, but was not a good balance between authenticity and reflecting the state of the internet in today’s era.

Reducing the batch to 10ms effectively kills what batching offered. A more sensible window of 100ms allows for a more crisp response, coupled with the ability for quick-reaction gameplay.

If we enter TBC Classic with this low of a batch window, how will people Shadow Word: Death on a Polymorph in the final moments of a cast to break it? Quite simply, they won’t be able to. Not in a 10ms window… and that’s not very authentic to the TBC experience, if that becomes the case. This was absolutely a used mechanic in higher-skill gameplay in arena.

There needs to be a sensible balance struck here. You’ve implemented a nearly two-decade old batch system. Change it to reflect 2021, not completely remove it.

Sorry, but listening to rationale like this is why classic is crap. If one spell no longer works like TBC that does not break TBC

We want to be able to sheep each other!?

Where are these people now… shadowlands! Quit…!

Finally blizz, just 1 year late but it’s ok i guess.
When are you removing leeway cancer?

It’s SOO GOOD

For rogue thats not good. Without batch u cant vanish scatter or other instant spell. U cant double blind or gouge or kidney. U cant vanish trap or priest fear. U cant vanish blind. Nothing. 100-200 ms was good but 10…

You should not really be able to do any of that though really. Technology increase just means we can have it as intended. Artificially slowing the game makes no sense in my view.

It was in 2005. It should be now. No changes right?
Vanishing instant spells was a skill indicator for rogue.

Don’t do this!!

A huge part of the gameplay in earlier versions of World of Warcraft is based around spell batching. This was most notably in tBC in the form of Shadow Word: Death, Shattercombos, Vanishing spells for rogues, and a bunch of other places.

You are seriously opening up Pandora’s box here. It’s fair enough in the retail game where you can reasonably argue that you can just update all the spells to make sure they work right, but on Classic you can’t do that with a straight face.

This is a change to Classic on a level of “changed the movement speed to be 17% faster”. It will have profound, far-reaching implications. It will certainly completely up-end the PvP meta.

exactly my thoughts… this is disastrous for the players that want the original TBC pvp era back…

hmm the rogue will become uninteresting, I guess, and there will be no more funny moments with double sheep and the like, very sad

Im not against reducing spell batcheing, BUT add some kind of artificial immunity to rogue vanish then? It is straight up nerfing rogues which is not a vanilla-like and playing around vanishing something in PvE or PvP is a fun part of rogue gameplay.
