WoW download stuck on "initializing"

Wow finaly! A wopping 67KB/s… Used the american region for it, not sure if that had any effect or not… 4h and waiting, but just passed 50% so wish me luck… -.-

Also tried everything, waited hours, still no luck. I was excited to play with my friends as prepatch is always fun, but I guess I have to wait until sunday now.

Also i’m not sure if anyone else has this issue but I did have battlenet stuck at initializing an update a few days ago, reinstalling worked but after seeing everyone else not being able to I don’t think i’ll risk it.

Really showing how much you value your customers Blizz…

its an absolute meme that you have to look into forums and freakin switch regions and flipping beg to download a r worded patch that is 2 weeks away from actual expansion release.

switching to NA seems to work for me at the moment meaning I’m @ 1% downloading with 212KB/s … nice job blizzard

Wasn’t working at the beginning for me, but fiddling around with express vpn (connected to hong kong) and seems to be ok now! Hang in there everyone

Yeah… So i formatted my computer thinking that would do the trick. That was a bad idea :stuck_out_tongue: now stuck at installing battle.net at 0%

Dw I’m idiot.

Needed to confirm my email account, got 10GB now!

Yeah blizz show us value so we can find other things to complain about

2% and counting

Well it looks like I’m going to bed right now  :unamused:

My install bar is moving \o/

This is actually disgusting. Surely, they should have thought that there would be a large increase in traffic after an expansion pre-patch. And it is now 10pm at night and still not fixed. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I switched the battle net launcher to Asia, installed ProtonVPN and chose a new york server, finally worked and installed enough to play

I had hoped the new Blizzard had solved the old flaws; how many subscription hours has theses “issues” saved data/power costs? Would they do it deliberately? Surely WOW could have an expansion release without people not able to play it without waiting days for the privilege? Again, calls for lost days added to play time…deaf ears!

For me when I started Bnet today it said WoW had an update. Clicked it got stuck on Waiting for other updates for 30min. Went through troubleshooting (https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/14236) where one step was to remove C:\ProgramData\Battle.net . That broke app pretty nicely. Tried troubleshooting for the error it was giving (forgot which one it was). Decided to reinstall. Battle.net installation got stuck. 2h later of following various advice including resetting network settings, disabling antivirus and adding installer to firewall Battle.net managed to install, though it seemed to be stuck on updating Battle.net step. Now as part of uninstall of Battle.net I’ve also removed WoW, which now I think might have been a mistake. Fortunately for me it got past initializing phase though again it was seemingly stuck there for more then 30min. And now I’m waiting for download to finish at lovely speed of 5MB/s if I’m lucky as I see it dropping to 3MB/s. According to internet speed test I should be more around 30MB/s. No VPN so probably that’s why speed is slow, but since it’s already late here I won’t be getting any playtime today I’ll just let it run.

Hi, can confirm that using VPN with Hong Kong works. It started updating in few seconds.
I bought nord vpn with code from pewdiepie.
I think it’s the cheapest option

Thanks for the tips above.
I’m from the UK and after hours of waiting, I’ve tried the Windscribe method and its working, I changed my region to America and vpn to Hong Kong

How can they be so incompetent?! I had to wait 3 weeks after launch in order to play Overwatch 2 since I couldn’t connect for some reason, never got a reply about my issue when I opened the ticket. Now this, come back after work excited to play and stuck on the damn update. ffs

Okay, I’ve been trying to download it for 3,5 hours now, and I finally managed to hit 100% changing my region ot Americas… now it’s updated, I’ve got the almighty “Play” button, but guess what? I pressed it and NOTHING happened, NOTHING. Good job Blizzard!

There was a time that they used to give free game time for this stuff.

Damn Blizz. I also deleted the BN app and am stuck with BN not completing a reinstall.
“updating Battle.Net” progress bar stuck. every time there’s an expansion Blizz break it.
