The easiest fix for this problem is to just wait guys, don’t be impatient. Let it initialize for 5-10 minutes before you think you have a problem. You almost certainly don’t, and it just takes a while to get going.
for some reason, using vpn connection and changing servers forces launcher to re-initiate download process and after a couple of minutes it starts downloading the actual content…
Since yesterday I can’t scan/repair/update so I tried to install the game from scratch and it’s the same. I tired everything and still. I have another PC next to mine where I can patch and install the game. Software like firewalls or antivirus are all the same. Ideas are over and no clue how to get this game running. Warzone2 is working fine…
Had the same issue from a clean install of DF yesterday after I was unable to down load the patch… I left it to install when it stopped at 2145571/2145571 after 15hrs then game finally started downloading this morning… all I can say is if you have tried everything else wait it out.
Still happening.
I’ve tried everything I can find in this thread and others. Nothing works.
I can download any other blizzard game, classic, overwatch, diablo all fine. Just not the live version.
Really glad I tried installing it before I reactivated the subscription, at this rate I’ll just not bother.
I have the same problem, i can download anyone games from Battle.net, but WoW dont… can u help me?
The only thing that fixed it for me was removing the bnet launcher and completely deleting WoW.
Then reinstalling everything. A massive pain but it did at least temporarily fix the issue.
I have the same problem.I can login to battle.net but can
not play , battle.net cannot find the installed game.
I played the game last night, working fine. Now i get ‘Incompatible’ on all servers. Do i have to reinstall or what, like many i can’t repair.
Hi everyone, I had this problem too, tried reinstalling the game, battle.net, switching off everything, basically doing everything everyone talks about and two things worked for me.
-
The first one, the most tedious : launching Windows in safe mode with network activated. Very long, you will after to reboot after to be able to play, and you need to have ethernet plugged in.
-
The second one is very funny and I can’t believe it works but I’ve tried everything to be sure it’s because of this action so please someone try this and tell me if it works for them too :
You need to have selected ‘Exit Battle Net completely’ in : Settings > App > General > When clicking X (close windows).
Now wait a bit to be sure the update is completely stuck,
Just click on the X to close the window. You should get a warning likeare you sure you want to exit while there is an update
or something like that and DON’T EXIT. Just wait like that. The update should start downloading.
The first time I did that I just thought “woops I almost closed while it was finally updating”. I then found it way too weird that it also happened a second time, and now for the 5th time since the launch even though I sometimes waited 5 to 10 minutes to make sure and did that, and every time the update finally starts when I leave the app with the warning are you sure you want to close.
Please, please someone tells me it also works for them, it would be by far the funniest get around to a very tiresome issue.
Stuck on initiating… what above guy said, doesn’t work, trying to leave battle net n staying somehow makes it complete installation? Nope…
What a mess. I had the same issue basically installer stuck on “initializing” and “Grabbing another update” for over an hour. Following someone elses advice, I tried uninstalling the battle.net launcher but it wouldn’t reinstall.
Basically it was just stuck on “updating battle.net launcher”. I did all the tips and tricks I could find (go to %appdata% etc and delete everything related to blizzard and battle.net) but the same thing happened.
I then went to C:\program files(x86)" and deleted the battlenet folder, on which case I actually got to the point where it asked me to select where to install battle.net. Leaving this screen open for about a second or two however gave a “something went wrong we’ll try to fix it come back later” with an error code indicating that the problem was on my end.
I then tried resetting the WMI repository (as indicated here):
But this also didn’t work. I tried booting in safe mode. Didn’t work. I then noticed windows had installed two more updates since yesterday (when this was working). I tried uninstalling these two updates (and one was a security update which I think was somewhat related to the WMI). At this point, I was actually able to start the installation, but it kept jumping back and forth between 90% and 80% and didn’t finish within an hour.
I then saw a blue post indicating that there could be a fault with the admin account on my computer so I made a new admin account and tried installing battle.net through there. It didn’t work.
Finally I said screw it and reinstalled windows. It worked! 4 hours down the drain but at least I’m logged in again.
If u stuck in Initialization loop, try these:
Delete the following folder and close every battle.net application via Task Manager:
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Battle.net
Solved it for me !
I also tried running the Beta Version of the Battle.net Launcher, worked also.
But I had to restart my PC and it was bricked again.
Deleting the Folder fixed it.
Hope it works for you aswell!
Is there any fix for MAC?
Still doesnt work to install… all other gamrs works, but not wow! cmon blizz, whats up?
I did an update on windows and after that it worked for me.
How did you save your addons. Just the WTF folder?
In the most random of random events, I finally got it working.
Bizarrely, for me the final key was renaming the game folder to a random sequence of letters.
Next time I opened battle net it just started updating.
Not conclusive of course, as I also made a lot of other changes, but more data if it helps anyone.
Same issue here, none of found methods made it work
- Installing game from scratch
- Running as admin
- Removing battlenet completely from PC (with any of its data from temp, programdata etc.)
- The youtube guide with keeping only large files in data folder and deleting everything else
- Using beta version of launcher
Stuck on the issue for 3 days already
This worked for me, thank you!
