WoW download stuck on "initializing"

Just the same as always - login servers are clearly overloaded and have crashed! shame but just gonna let it run on initialising and hope it goes eventually

99% sure it’s also something to do with CoD being released. Looks like they’re having the same issue. Amazing infrastructure as always.

Joining the ‘‘same here’’ petition. Also tried all the basic troubleshooting, deleted battle net and after cleaning all the battle.net and associated folders and I redownloaded battlenet. Still same issue.

Looks like we are screwed because of the warzone 2 release today. Couldn’t they have done phase 2 a day early/late?

Looking at twitter, warzone 2 players are facing the exact same issues when trying to download through bnet.

Between COD, OW2 and Dragonflight pre-patch as well as WotLK classic they probs have a lot of people all logging on at 5pm UK time after work and system has gone rip

What a joke, I postponed some slightly important stuff just to get home earlier to play and now I;m stuck at initializing!
WHo would have expected that from Blizzard on a launch day!

I fixed mine!
I had to pause all updates.
switch to dragonflight beta and uninstall.
it sat at 0% for about 20-30 mins then had install showing on the button but applying updates under the button.
After that i closed the battle net launcher and all instances running in task manager (including updater agent)
then relaunched into wow and it started updating properly.
GOOD LUCK

Hey Blizz, how about a blue post so you can at least pretend you care about your customers?

For what it’s worth, stuck on initializing for about 40 minutes now, after rebooting the PC because I was stuck on “waiting for another update to finish” for half an hour.

Blizzard: Feeling cute might post a blue post later :kissing:

Dont expect a blue post, most probably this will sort itself out with time. Servers might be overloaded.

If I can give you any advice guys, just don’t waste your time trying to troubleshoot the issue yourself. I lost a whole evening with this bs last time and then in the morning it worked fine.

It’s frustrating, I know. We all know who Blizzard are. The money we pay them certainly doesn’t go to hiring more staff who research technical issues that affect just specific group of players on patch launch. (Even though this is like the third time this happened in last half a year…)

Uninstalled everything to do with battlenet launcher,

used VPN to switch country, reinstalled launcher and located game and started update straight away

Waited 10 minutes and it started downloading at 100 - 300 KB/s. Tried to fix with multiple pc reboots at first without succes.

Good job releasing a patch for Call of Duty and WoW on the same day on servers from grandma’s basement

I think a compensation is needed - if you cannot provide the service you are paid to provide to your customers, you need to give compensation.
Thanks god the Data Act is coming in Europe.

I just tried that but its stuck on updating battle.net about 60% on the bar, did you have that issue?

Update? No, the initializing doesn’t end here. Broken installations are just another path, one that we all must take.

Eventually we’ll see it…the login screen… and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise
