WoW killed itself for raiders over 7 years ( us repost )

They’re not making the game for raiders or casuals or any of us for that matter, they’re making the game for investors as Acti/Blizzard has to maximize profits for their shareholders.

All they want is MAU.

yep we get it

you dont want to play mmorpg

you want yto play lobby based instance symulator

we really get you

LoL is that way →

The mistake Blizz makes is that they often listen or focus on one part of the player base and that is just wrong, not even in gameland but also irl. If u want to be a succes u will have to keep all happy and so u hire ppl who can focus on all.
One small example is, one of my ex guildies is 72 yrs old, she loved wow and did hrs of archeology, it really made her happy but now she stopped months ago. And to some ppl this doesnt mean anything ofc but I feel for her.
Also the professions, yrs ago u had to put in an effort but now u just grap it up for no effort at all.
And there are so many other things, this game is not only for myth or hardcore players, it has become a joke and atm I am really only playing now and then because I have invested 15 yrs in this game but if this was a new game I would never even start it.

In what possible sense is creating multiple systems done with casuals in mind? Do you have even the slightest justification for this?

I mean, it worked during WOTLK: you leveled up, you were taken to raids, you took loot and you went on raiding. The only “mandatory” stuff there were the unique shoulder enchants from Sons of Hodir.

Was the game an instance simulator back then for you?

You really need to tone down on snorting fel.

The topic was aboot raiders. If the game was catering to raiders then trust me, there would be less mandatory systems.

It certainly wasn’t done with raiders in mind. Not a single person from my raid group has ever said covenants were great system. So if it wasn’t done for raiders then whom? Anyway that wasn’t my point, point is you can’t blame group of players who do certain type of content for the state of game

What are you even on about ? i mean what the hell ?

I wouldn’t care?

what in the holy god send are you talking about in the first place?

And peak pvp experiance.

There are certain expectations that people want met in guilds, if 1-2 people are doing them daily then in a sense everyone is somewhat obligated to, else they’re ‘dragging the team down’.

Same as what we saw with classic and world buffs, you can beat everything without them, but the people who do get them, make the run easier and should be rewarded more in a sense, which in turn slowly, but surely makes them mandatory.

I think it missed the biggest problem (for me at least) which is the near total gear wipe every tier which feels like it was decided just so that raiders wouldn’t feel obliged to farm ‘old’ raids

Eh, if anything raiders are the ones who probably would care the least about this since they get their gear from raiding anyways so it’ll always be up to date.
It’s more so players who want to try out raiding on fresh alts and people who either join the expansion late or want to get into raiding later on in the expansion that the full gear reset is made for.

If anything is to blame in this regard then it isn’t raiding but rather M+ and how the gearing structure since Legion has been made fully seasonal to accommodate it.

I understand what you’re saying but professions only allowed you to get pretty powerful if you had the materials that only dropped in the raids in order to make the powerful gear. Otherwise the top level gear was always in line with the content you were clearing.

WarChads of Not-Outland(:joy:) was, contrary to what a lot of people say: Actually one of the better expansions.

I think Wildstar had that mentality, and closed down after a few years.

I think blizzard just gave up trying to design decent catch-up systems and just thought ‘screw it, gear resets every tier’. People raiding on alts are generally the same people that raid to a good level on their main so that kind of reinforces my point. Whoever it’s supposed to help though it just feels awful for the casual and semi-casual player who spends most of a tier gearing to a decent level and then before they can enjoy any of their power gains it’s just wiped away.

Game would be good if it catered toward raiders. Unfortunately it’s catering toward everyone which makes it not catered at all.

Btw, drink everytime you read catering in this thread.

Still the Weekly Korthia quest can be ignored until later in the week. Even if it rewards an empowered row. Im fully aware of certain expectations and whatnot but those empowered rows wont make a difference. Especiall not in Sanctum. Not to mention horribly designed fights like KT where you have to actually hold damage for an eternity during the regular phases and even during the intermissions more often than not.
