WoW lost half it's subs

I think I will be more concerned when I’m no longer surrounded by players when playing the game.

Best change for me was that I no longer had to use WM on because there is no power gain from Anima unlike Legion and BfA. So I don’t care about that extra 10%. WM Off is full of people all the time.

Now that you mention it, I wonder if that’s why people think the game is dying…

So is WM on. I think there are fewer than in WM off, but I prefer it this way. I genuinely can’t find a reason to turn it off now, I like it. All’s well when everyone is fine with it on both sides.

Why do you even waste time on haters, let them spend their life on their fact that blizz is the world evil no 1. Blizz are not allowed to earn money, but the company which the haters get their payroll through, can. People like this believes everything and one spark og negative wibe will enlighten their lifes.

I defintely think it’s the opposite. There are less in WM on.

I wish they would bring this back and MoP challenge modes.

I’m on Frostmane and I love how quiet it is while I am leveling up - feels like it’s my own server

That’s what I said too. :frowning:

What a coincidence, so am I.

Well i could quote you on things you’ve said in the past but then again you would probably report me for harrassment for just quoting a mvp like you have done in the past.

It okay to express you opinions but soon as someone quotes you , you feel personally attacked. Hiding behind a MVP status. That’s an abuse of status.

what you see is people from many different servers.
the amount of people on every server is going down.

My bad

Lets be fair, if a Streamer isn’t making a “The Sky is Falling! the Sky is falling!” type of video, they ain’t gonna get that sweet money rolling in. Outrage sells…

Also a lot of desperate Classic Posting going on in this thread. Almost as if it wasn’t going as well as they’d hoped… I mean they do seem awfully determined to try and savage Retail without looking at the gaping flaws in Classic.
Weird.
But then what can you say about a demographic that thought they wanted Classic, but now rather clearly…don’t.

Lol where did you pull that from ? They only had 4 servers for classic. Totally underestimating how many people wanted it. 4 servers with English only … to 43 with multiple languages. I see more people online when i log into classic in the cities than i do in retail. I play on Outland and Silvermoon , i never see that amount of people. Those are meant to be high to full servers.

You know damn well when TBC launch , everyone is going to be 10 hour long queues trying to log in.

Pff where did you get the idea classic was a fail ? I wish i could screenshot my bnet friends list. I got more people on there playing classic right now than SL and it’s reset day. They all play both versions of the game.

From playing it and seeing everyone going “Oh well, blast from the past” and the fact that 'Top End Raiderzzzz had pretty much cleared all the content in a couple of weeks.

No thanks. I remember Vanilla. That was not Vanilla. Or rather, for two weeks it was, then it just dropped massively. You never saw anyone anymore in the world, the social aspect was gone. To be honest, you get more of the old aspects of Vanilla if you play Retail, than if you play Classic…

But then, as we see in this thread. It was never about the title at all, it was another ‘Classic is better’ thread. I will say this, the most disgraceful aggression for no reason I have seen, was uniformly against a woman who played both Classic and Retail, as I did at the time, before realising how unpleasant and anti-social the Classic community was. They made the stupid mistake of mentioning in general that they played both. The Vitriol, anger, threats of real life sexual violence was just astounding.

I don’t think the Classic player base is anything like the Vanilla player base was. You’d never get that stuff back then, because there was no Retail to be told to (Redacted) off back to, you (Redacted) (naughty word Garrosh doesn’t say anymore) I hope you get (Redacted) by a dead dog for hours you (Redacted).

But hey, apparently it was a gentler, more civilised age of gaming…

Uh huh…

Strangely I poked my head into Classic again just a few days ago.

Tumbleweed rolled past…I felt like the main character from 28 Days later at the start…

Why I am letting my sub run out for the first time in 16 years:

  • 1: FOMO Tactics going rampant.
Now they have seasons on M+ mounts too, so you better not miss doing all those KSM’s in time!
More FOMO adds = Poor taste.
(FOMO = Fear of Missing out, terrible for collectors, many who play WoW are collectors)

  • 2: MAU Focus.
They are clearly interested in MAU numbers, which means you log on 1 time a month; that’s the number they want.
You still pay for 1 month sub.
If you log on more, you strain their servers, they need better hardware, so it’s better the less you log on for them.
They haven’t fixed their server lag and other issues with stability cause this is what they want.
It costs them money — meanwhile all the SUITS care about today is MAU, 1 user active 1 time each month = 1 month sub required.

  • 3: Casino Design
They have made a massive casino with SUPER poor odds (Some drops having 0.01% dropchance, You are more likely to win the lottery in the same time spent farming for it)
Its to artificially inflate sub-costs by making things more elusive, while also praying on addiction for gambling in a more subtle way than straight out lootboxes.
    The vault is HORRIBLE.
    Example:
    https://twitter.com/DuduNaia/status/1367147073124986881/photo/1
Same boots, better ilvl, worse stats…
Also, the only piece that I had 223 ilvl at.
I had about 5 or so other slots that is 200/203/213 ilvl.
This is horrible, does not feel fun, and the decreased drop both in ilvl and in chance from the M+ runs themself are just making it even worse on top of it.

  • 4: Timegate. Timegate. Timegate.
    You make Timegated grinds.
    All to extend sub-cost. It’s 100% seethrough.
I used to be able to decide if I wanted to grind things out over a week (Example; Insane Title), but now I am forced to wait week after week to get that tiny bit of progress each time…
    It’s NOT fun.

  • 5: 100% soulless gamedesign.
Pun intended since this expac is supposed to be about Souls.
Each week we gather 20 of them, and it’s equally boring each time.
We’re “Forced” to do Torghast if we do not wish to fall out on the Soul Ash grind, IMPOSSIBLE to catch up without doing it every week.
It’s all just “Weekly this” “Daily that”. It’s not a game anymore, it’s Chores.

  • 6: Anima is a longtime insult.
It will take you over 3 years to do all covenant content, gather all cosmetics, upgrade all buildings, EVEN if you play 7h a DAY.
It’s impossible to speed up. The anima droprate is HORRENDOUS.
Cosmetics being this drawn out just feels like they couldn’t make better content than to drag it all out…

  • 7: Its not fun.
You are clearly not focused on fun anymore. It’s too obvious.
    It’s all numbers. Numbers. NUMBERS.
The above list concludes the mindset, it’s:
“Turning players into payers”, and it’s OBVIOUS.

  • 8: Scaling.
Everything scaling with both level and gear actually takes out the progress feeling out of the RPG part of the game.
In other fantasy games, I gain gear so I can slay the dragon easier…
Here it’s “Gain gear, you get an abysmal increase that is hardly noticable. Some things even get harder or take longer to kill.”
Torghast seemingly having this, as even with my gear now (213), I feel equal or even worse than when I was 190~ ilvl doing the same stuff.

Then we can staple all the other things on top of it…
The disrespect where they talk about Cosmetics being a Main feature of SL, saying they’ll update more as the expansion is released, but then instantly going back on it cause “… CBA.” ?

Then we have Scaling, which is obviously poorly done.
You lied saying we could do anything we can now, even after scaling is implemented, but we obviously can not and now you say “It will be by end of expansion (Maybe)”.
What the…?? No, no, and no.
The only thing I could have possibly enjoyed right now is at least continue doing what I was doing; Soloing Legion stuff.
But nope! Not allowed, cause that’s content they could drag out!
We used to be able to solo things the same expansion, then it was 10 lvls above (Last expansion), then made 11 lvls above (2 expansions), then it was possible again due to gear to solo “last expansion” stuff - then you implement scaling and WOOPS, now we can’t anymore.
The constant yo-yo tactics is not at all flattering.

The game is 100% a moneyprinter with some focus on horrible schemes made by suits who sincerely care nothing about fun or health of people.
The only issue with this moneyprinter is that you are pushing people like Me away.
NEVER Unsubbed for 16 years straight, Bought majority of things WoW related that exists, even have Frostmourn hanging on my wall!
Most of my apartment is decorated with WoW things…
and now - I - am leaving in a ball of fury and disapointment.
People like me shouldn’t be leaving, we’ve been the biggest fans who have also been most loyal, and now with this design you’re managing to push us off the waggon…
Good job loosing that type of costumer, it’s the hardest type to get rid of; but you managed.
My “addiction” (Love) was cured. Thanks.

I am not having fun.
I am not a wallet for some goblin at the top to hoard money from.
The aim of the game is seethrough.

“Turning players into payers”, we’re no longer nerds together.
I’m out of this clubhouse cause it has turned into a pit for the goblin to look ugly in.
Its too obvious.

And it’s not Ions fault alone, the higher ups - included the goblin - is pushing this agenda.
“Take fun out of making games” speaks enough.
Banning people for speaking up against hatespeech if it’s aimed towards the “Wrong” people to fit some agenda-mindset is also addin to the foulness.

And no, You can not have my gold.
I’m giving that away to people I know have a soul, who would never post such a reply to someone who’s clearly upset about loosing the “Love” for their hobby, those few who still somehow find joy in this game (Who also do not care about cosmetics, or end game, I can tell you that those are the only ones still having fun on my friends list.)

I doubt most will bother read through my entire post, it’s a TED-Talk lenght of disapointment, and I expect people to reply with some whiney disagreement as if that disproves my view of what the game has become, eventho that clearly is a matter of perspective…

Whoever still enjoys this machine of greed; Cudos, you found the small glimmer of joy in whatever this has become.
I’m crushed, and done, I rather pay for something where I feel welcomed.

I really enjoyed SL from the launch, but I’m also planning on taking a break soon. I mostly play solo, so I honestly enjoyed Torghast - but with the rewards there being lackluster (I’m not really into crafting a whole bunch of legendaries if I cannot use more than one at a time) and TC being a one-time thing, plus taking way too long to attempt it casually without an option to pause mid-run… It just isn’t enough to merit staying in the warmer months. So I’ll wait for some new content, and then I’ll see. Probably will be back. Hopefully those systems will get more polished! As it is, for the last month or so I mostly replayed old content, farming cosmetics - which is it’s own fun.

Blizzard is so afraid to make the game fun in order to not hurt the competitive scene. I don’t get it. How many people play the game from competitive resons? I don’t know but am sure as hell it’s the vast minority of the playerbase.

It is not surprising for me at all.

I have been pessimistic about SL since beta.

And for me personally, my guild and friend list loss is more than half.

I think we all need to cut down on the games and start looking at other things more. Because there is so much energy wasted on debating this nonsense when I think the core problem is that we’re all a little depressed or unhappy because it would seem for many people their happiness is attached to their actions in a game and as a long term thing I dont think that’s healthy.

I’ve unsubbed from WOW after taking stock of what actually gave me enjoyment in the game quickly realizing I didnt need to spend hours a day grinding worthless s**t and man does it feel like a weight was lifted.

When you make it not relevant you break the spell and I must say it’s a great feeling - like quitting smoking!
