And when you kill him on Mythic? Thats right your gear becomes uselesss and next patch replaces everything you got in previous WP.
No wonder that you think it was big when you were playing with players what have done this. You just have wrong perspective. If you would look at it from point of average player you would know that this wasnt issue at all.
as i said, the end objective isnt different however… ALOT more people were raiding in classic Compared to doing mythic raiding today So for the vast Majority this isnt how it works.
farming heroic Means ur still gearing from M+ Vault effectively.
Becouse casuals are not game designers. Those players will always want more covienience and free stuff. They do not understand what impact it will have on their game experience. And by time it does have impact the blame their lack of fun on hardocre players or some other nonsense like not getting high end gear from WQs.
You dont have to farm gear in heroic to earn gear in Vault becouse you alredy beat content and all the gear you are getting will be absolote anyway.
All WoW can use for advertising is the newest Dungeons and raids. The challenge of older content is not retained (seriously give us timewalking m+ blizzard!). The story is… something… that is also gated behind months long wait. For the social aspect the players are split between two teams because reasons while the in-game forums are swamped with spam. And while wow’s sound design gameplay wise is great, music on the other hand is severely lacking.
Compared to say FFXIV who a lot of people play not only for the dungeons and raids, but for the story, music and social aspect. But then FFXIV has it’s own issues with no alt support, and awful inventory system made worse with the lack of glamour/transmog log.
just ressurect legion artifact weapons with new traits and transmogs, revamped mage tower and boom SL is saved. I loved artifact weapons system. I didnt even mind grinding ap on alts. Out of every system from wod up to sl artifact weapons were my favourite by a long mile
Torghast is mildly more entertaining than Isle Expeditions and Warfronts, but that is speaking relatively, so not that much.
I had more fun in BFA overall than in SL.
I think island expeditions were better than Torghast tbh BUT you had to spam them for hours so I’d still choose torghast over IE
And for both Legion and BFA the game was most fun in the last patch once all the rng trite was removed from legendaries/corruptions giving us the ability to make our characters ridiculously powerful.
Back when classic released it was the most casual MMO out there. Nowadays there’s barely any MMO out there which is more hardcore than retail WoW.
It was about as big an issue as boosting is right now. In fact, the main point of speculation as to why Blizz added the WoW token is that they saw how much money people were making selling gold, they saw it was as science would call it A WHOLE LOT and wanted to get not just a piece, but the entire pie.
Gold selling was a huge, huge problem.
No it wasnt.
Yes. But as with everything. There are thresholds. At certain point you have to stop making game more and more acessible in order to preserve genre to its true nature. Modern game is way beyond for what is acceptable for mmo.
Riot did same thing with MOBA but didnt get carried away on acesabillity vagon. And game keeps growing year after year.
pretty much this.
There are a lot of player who play for the story and for exploring the new zones. They buy the new expac do the storyline. see the world, open some treasures and then they unsub. Some of these will come back for x.1 patch, some for x.2 and some won’t be back until pre-patch of x+1.0
Saying that some xpacs keep these people entertained for longer than others. MOP had a lot of explore / treasure hunter type content. MOP also had a reasonably constant story evolving (not quite Legion levels but close).
WOD had little by way of story, lots of treasures but they grew old fast, especially as it took so long to get flying.
Professions like fishing, cooking and first aid used to be more fun than they are now. Crafting needs so much from grouped content these days.
Old Content for transmogs was also a good occupier of time for these players but that’s gone now more or less.
So even though this has always happened I think it is happening sooner than it used to.
Which only shows how in unhealthy state game is. This seasonal spikes and dropoffs will each expansion gwt exponecial bigger and bigger and it will end up players not even coming back for new content becouse they alredy know that they will quit anyway.
Just like in D3 in early seasons players played, then players comeback to check out new season content and quit in 2-3 weeks. And now players dont even bother to check out new seasons.
one good example, character customization, all allied race mains thought we going to get some love too in later patches since they made it seem like the expansion will focus on customization which is feature that well receieved by everyone, turns out they just bailed on that… the disappointment on that one, im not going to lie after this dire news im less motivated to play
nightborne players for example as i am have a very sour taste after the Q&A and some even left/cancelled their sub, which also adds to that losing half subscribers situation
You just made my list sis!!!
They made the game too boring for people to stay subbed, they nerfed xp required to level so hard they should instead just give people instant lvl 60 or remove leveling from the game and make it all about the end-game
Maybe they should just remove all mobs from the game world too that isn’t current content, would save file space and people don’t bother killing them anyway since they can just fly over them all or gather about 50 of them to AoE cleave them since they can’t really kill your Champion
Maybe before you log in to the game you should just get the option to queue into lfg to spam dungeons, since who wants to stand around in the ugly capital cities looking at nothing waiting for a queue to pop up
I have no idea how casuals with no friends in this game could justify paying 15 a month to play this
Back when classic released it was the most casual MMO out there. Nowadays there’s barely any MMO out there which is more hardcore than retail WoW.
Lineage 2 still, Black Desert Online requires you to literally have the game running 24/7 or you’ll fall behind on the power curve. ArcheAge is still hardcore. EverQuest is still going and it is still hardcore. TERA, Blade and Soul are still more hardcore than WoW.
WoW is still a casual MMO by all measures. The problem is that as opposed to 2004, now casual players feel like they’re entitled to mythic raiding rewards. In fact, I’d argue the game now is much less hardcore than it was in 2004, it’s way more streamlined and way more friendly to people who don’t like playing a lot.
The argument will be that if you don’t play a lot you miss out on stygia, soul ash, m+14, mythic raids… but those are not a real concern to a casual player.
