It matters for both obviously. If vanilla was good people would still play it and it wouldnt die with tbc. However it died and even now people can act like some people are still playing it however its population is probably lower than some private servers out there which i dont think is healthy really. Luckily its not that much about end game content as other expansions so you can have decent experience by playing solo. Idk about tbc i mean i tried to explain why classic began in first place and why it has been doomed in long term while it can work in short term. The reason for it is as i explained its target audience which is players who already quit which means no new players.
Yo i’ve never said it was Always bad tho i’ve said it was a good game back then cos there were no better games. Today there are better games and compared to them it’s bad. Even back then there were some design issues however there were no better games at that point so it didnt matter.
And somehow you saying this out loud doesn’t trigger your brain into thinking that maybe, just maybe, Blizzards changes for classic weren’t all that welcomed?
Again, specifically Wrath.
I don’t care if you don’t like Wrath, honestly, but it comes off really weird that you’re specifically targeting Wrath in your rants.
The relatively unchanged versions of the classic game had better player retention than the versions of the classic game that had more changes, agreed or not?
I’m not sure if you mean classic like vanilla-wrath or just vanilla or only wrath however since there were significant differences between patches which means between different versions of class designs, bosses, etc. Its impossible to bring exact mirrors of how the game looked like back then. Some changes had to be made. If youre talking about wrath - personally wasnt really happy about them however i dont think people would quit just cos after Farming ulduar for months they could finally buy trinket that never dropped from vendor or something like this. If you feel like buffed naxx somehow destroyed your experience then idk never heard anyone complaining about it. When it comes to rdf this was actually no change. When youre talking about changes maybe try to name some examples cos I personally dont know whats so game breaking about them. I guess new new changes ti HC dungeons are the most noticeable however still i dont think dungeons overall are issue really since it helps with gearing since noone runs naxx/ulduar anyway, you “have to” run them for like 2 weeks max anyways if you min max and want full gear asap and theyre not even that hard. I mean i dont see how it ruins anyones experience really.
I even said vanilla is imo worst game ever and tbc Is worst expansion ever wdym.
I actually kinda enjoy wrath overall. Also this whole topic is about wrath so why should i talk about why is tbc bad expansion?
I dont know, depends on what you mean by unchanged versions since i dont think there are many changes to icc and yet people overall cry their raid teams are quitting, pvp ladder is dead, my friends refuse to enter icc and rather quit while they did ulduar even tho Its bad 40 times.
I mean youre trying to push narrative that people quit cos of changes while from my experience people dislike the bad design such as disaster class balance, awful pvp gearing and raid bosses being dummies which makes raids boring compared to retail.
Classic is the post 2019 release of WoW Classic. Otherwise I would say original.
Thanks to the decision to keep the game on the last patch for classic there really havent been that many changes for classes throughout which is arguably also a bad thing since the meta gets really stale.
Funnily, the changes directly impacted class and pvp balance as well. Combine that with a relentless amount of bots that never get addressed it’s virtually impossible to get into arenas in the first place.
No, ICC was never going to get new players joining. Especially with how the game has been handled.
There’s a reason I’m not arguing for Wrath Era servers and it’s strictly cause I’m kinda relieved to be out of here yet again. Blizzard has made every mistake in Wrath Classic that made me quit in Cataclysm in the first place.
Please, please, keep Wrath servers. I think TBC and Wrath added and fixed things from the base game, but Cata massively changed and revamped most of it.
I enjoyed TBC and Wrath the most and I was already disappointed when TBC servers disappeared (couldn’t manage to do any BT runs in time because of real life). I’m having a blast in Wrath now, but I’d rather start in a private server than having to play Cata.
1 server at its peak popularity, that has been merged with 8-12 other servers was high pop, it hits medium often now and classic era is not even 1/30th the size of 2019…
after thinking about this… I fell congrated to blizz. Now I can try new games and explore further than battle.net app.
Classic was the reason I give wow 2-3 years more, but blizzard want I have better life, its time for me to stop playing wow at least stop suscribing for more 3 months per year. I dont see myself wasting money in war within.
Why would they make a wotlk era servers for all the 1000 people that wanna play it ? It will be dead a week after cataclysm is released. Stop being delusional that many people want and like wotlk.
Thinking most of people came from that private server in first place is a little bit delusional. In addition to that youre missing that wrath is already dead, there are 2,5x less people playing pvp compared to s5, tons of people quit pve, theres nothing left to do. Cataclysm is extremely underrated. Personally i dont expect it to do well cos of its bad reputation however since wrath is already dead its gonna be an improvement atleast till the end of year as first two tiers are actually very good.
What do you mean by “most players” . I think you are greately over exaggerating the amount of people who want to continue playing WoTLK.
Look at what happened with classic. People wanted classic era servers after TBC was announced just like they want it now. What happened ? Nobody continued playing classic. You can go back in time in see how many people played in the classic era servers before hardcore became popular. Servers now are inflated because of the hardcore hype, and the ability for people to transfer their dead characters for free on the classic era servers.
Just log in an era server and check the auction house. Edgemasters are listed for 23 000 gold. A flask for raid is 800 gold. Do you realise how much gold is that for classic ? The same will happen if they do a wrath era server. You think you want it, and there will be people playing it for a month or two, then it will die out, and it will become the same inflated bot populated server as the classic era ones.
The reason people have been playing wrath on non-blizzard servers all this time is 1. because we didn’t have wotlk blizzard servers and 2. because on these servers, there are patches coming out constantly and fresh servers are being released.
What will happen now - People understood that wotlk hype is way bigger than they used to think, and most of them realised this expansion is good only because of nostalgia. Now as they played it out again, they saw it’s nothing really special. How many people do you think are gonna want to clear ICC every week on their 16th alt character, because there wont be any new FRESH servers to start over again.
Just as wotlk hype was over exaggerated, same way Cataclysm negativism is as well over exaggerated. I’m not saying it will break population records, but it will be for sure popular and people are gonna play it, because it’s actually not a bad expansion, at least in my opinion it is way better than WOTLK.
this basically, 5-6 months before the end of wotlk and players already bored with ICC (and there is not too much interest for RS).
i can’t imagine how anyone wants to play this expansion further anymore.
even if blizzard creates some wotlk era realm, what will happen?
some players transfers their character there and continue afking in dalaran?
i mean
there won’t be any new content
most of those transferred characters are already in BiS gear => no reason to dungeons/raid
no new PVP season to fight for (not that the meta would be different anyway)
no reason to farm gold (it was already done by bots)
obviously like shadowmourne owner classes might want to stay forever in wotlk because that’s an overpowered dumb weapon (pve warriors in bg charging in, mortal strike, bladestorm and killing players in full pvp gear, clownfest).
if blizzard releases a fresh wotlk realm (without character copies/transfers) that might have some potential as that way players will have something to do at least.
i had the same negative view on cata when i started classic, but since then it changed a lot and after playing classic-tbcc-wotlkc again, i can see why lot of the changes in cata were made, and tbf it’s interesting (and in some cases it sounds better than wotlk lol).
I love Wrath of King Arthas so much! In ideal world having TBC and Wrath servers would be best but I can handle not having TBC but not having permanent Wrath means I have nothing left to do and zero desire to play Cata.
Don’t be stubborn Blizz, make 1 PvP and PvE server and be done with it!
I can’t believe players are this dense and calling this travesty classic… . There’s literally retail if you want Cata. I’m going to Warmane if Blizz is this tone deaf…
Why he is wrong though? Cata is 99% same as retail, just lock your XP and do your raids, dungeons. Meanwhile there’s no version of WoW (apart from vanilla Era) where you can visit old world. You guys are so used to chew everything thrown at you that you will be happy to play if they announce Shadowlands or BfA classic after Cata lol. Why I’m even rushing that further when there’s WoD waiting you: GARRISON HYPE!
