You can tell someone is using restedXP when they're

the “average” classic player spams dungeons 24/7, restedxp players are new to this version of the game players

I don’t do dungeons, I am slow, I know the game, I get easily distracted, I am a completionist, I craft and gather, I do seasonals, I do not get any help from mains, friends or guildies, I do not buy at the AH.
My time is in most cases faster than the average Rested XP users.
Most Rested XP users are wannabe speedrunners. And that spamming addon is a royal PITA that should either be banned or muted.

Well I am not usually lying, why should I here? I think maybe the secret is in the one statement you did not cite:

I’ve played through the starter and lower level zones so many times, as I have been a part of the IronMan Challenge (old Death = delete) almost since its start in 2012.

Funnily in the higher level zones, I don’t see as many using Rested XP.

And I still think

An addon posting 2 lines of text in /e when a person hits new level is a royal pain in the ars to you?

Anyway, I should correct myself, yeah, you may be faster than an average person using the free restedXP addon announcing their level. You stand absolutely no chance competing with someone who has inserted the paid (or pirated) guide into it. Especially if you indulge in even a hint of distraction, completionism and don’t buy stuff for hand-in quests off AH.

And the vast majority of us here are some form of a veteran. There will be relatively few truly new players in a “20th anniversary” edition of a game. Vanilla WoW is not some sort of arcane, esoteric web of complexity, levelling a 200th or 2000th character does not make you all that much efficient at it as compared to us plebs who did it maybe 20+ times.

Edit: I’ve watched once a footage of someone following a paid guide for a couple hours because… reasons. It’s completely insane, there is no wasted time quite literally, no idle flight, no idle walk, no idle waiting, talk to this, hand in this, buy this this and this, hand in that, kill these mobs until you reach at least 175000/250000 xp of level Z, hand in a, b, c, fly to X, hydrate and evacuate in 3,5 min of fligt time. I couldn’t possibly have fun playing that way, but I can see how it would make someone hit 60 in well under a week of gameplay.

I can’t see what version they have, and I find it plain ridiculous seeing meesages like: “Snowman made it to level 3 in 2 hours 45 minutes using Rested XP” And I find this snide advertising a PITA. I do not like the “3/4 XX completed for QUESTNAME” from Questie, but you only see those if you group up - imagine them being broadcast to whole zones!
And it’s worse in the starter areas, where everybody and his granny seems to use this addon, as I say I rarely see it in the higher level areas.

expresses my feelings too.

Doesn’t matter if they were created to protect themselves.

It’s a set of rules that should be followed.

Do we have a green light to ignore other rules?

Is it ok to RMT gold?
Is it ok to buy accounts?

Rules exist for reasons, simple.

RestedXP can shove itself where the sun don’t shine.

Well, I am one. I dont hate it, I just dont see a reason to use it. I remember the world, the Quests, so I do what I like, when I want… coz there is little end game in vanilla, so why rushing it.
