sad to read this lads, hopefully something can be done about it. it’s an rp-server after all
The first month I saw and participated in several rp events. I ran into events I didnt know about a couple of times. But I haven´t seen anything like that lately. Now its just a big mindless PvP orgy that is dominating. It wasnt like this in vanilla, where I also played on an rp-pvp server (but to be fair rp didnt dominate in rp-pvp back then, but it wasn´t ridiculed either)
Are you reporting peoples names for being non-RP? Start with that.
I have the same experience that Raztul mentioned. I’ve reported almost every non-RP name that I’ve seen and yet still see the same names around in the world months later.
It doesn’t make any difference.
my og. name was not rp friendly but that was because I didn’t know that there were rules for this kind of stuff. I manually requested a name change from a GM and got it so that’s nice at least. But to be honest sometimes they look into name reports and force a name change.
To be honest, a lot of names don’t break the RP ruleset names wise even though they don’t “fit” the character they’re playing… and some people’s idea of what isn’t an RP name is way off… for example I had a female gnome warlock on defias called Dots (which I made on day 1 of playing wow, before I even knew that warlocks had damage over time spells and was actually named after a evil B-tch of a cat who was the spawn of satan we had growing up.) The amount of people who whispered me saying it wasn’t RP, someone even took the time to make a forum post about me. And in every sense and rule of the game dots is an RP name. It even got a blue post response on the forums saying as much. But people still gave out. Now if I was say an male orc warlock I could see how it’s not an RP name. But on a female gnome it fits.
Yes but Cheesepops, Martinluther and Istabzu are so not names you can use on a RP server. They all exist.
There are bits and pieces Horde side but they are few and far between. I often run into the cultists marching through Durotar or other small events in the Crossroads. I think it would really help if there was more obvious information about what the RP bit in a realm name actually means rather than just a brief note about it. I’ve come across many who knew nothing at all about naming conventions and so on. They just rolled on ZT as it was one of the few realms available at the start that didn’t appear to be already full.
We definitely should be rounding on anyone who mocks the RPers when we see that sort of behaviour in game. Blizz tend to hit things like names in waves so it’s always worth reporting but I’ve no idea if they’ve done any of that yet although there does seem to be less of them around.
I think the problem is rather complicated and has no easy fix nor explantion…
I re-rolled to Zandalar for several reasons myself and the main one was not RP, that aspect was a bonus.
- Started as horde on Flamelash even though ive allways been alliance, hard regrets by Level 24 so i had to make a New char.
- Did my Research on realms, knew i wanted pvp, the faction Balance was important. Zandalar came out as the most favorable one to play ally on.
-RP server, several posts on Instam from events made me realise that while im not a RP main myself i think it could be interessting to try it at least once in a while, join events and so on. - I asked arround on the server discords and so on, tried to develop a background story for my character and then “be” that character in events.
- How it Works in practice? I play as i would on a PvP server, With an appropriate name, polite to “all”. I ask “May i have a buff please” instead of simply “buff plz” and so on. Very little effort, but it could mean the difference to another player.
To the problem: I agree With the OP and many other on this server “mess it up” by utterly trashing the zone chats and make fun of People actually trying to RP and enjoy the experience this is so damn unnessesary…
Fix? Hard to say its all about being polite and respecting certain rules tbh, the RP community is small, that makes the “regular” players a good thing in terms of having a living world, but all players need to behave… Trashing general chat happens on all servers so that is a problem thats unfortunate but impossible to kill unfortuantly. But bein polite enough not to mess With People actually trying to RP should not be so damn hard.
Morale is? Behave People, we all form the community on Zandalar Tribe, lets make it the best for all its inhabitants.
I had the exact same problem back at vanilla at Venture Co. We talked on forums a lot about the ruleset of a RP realm. But we could not convince the pvpers that it’s a RP realm with the contested zones. Their arguement was it’s RP or PvP realm, not both and they will PvP, they do not care about RP. Seems like pretty the same issue, I doubt there is a solution to that particular problem.
So it’s Blizzards fault that players don’t want to RP?
What?
It feels like defias was to me
It’s blizzard’s fault that they do not enforce RP rules in RP servers, back at vanilla and now.
Yeah, I remember how I created an Orc Warrior there. Genthar, a veteran of the Second and Third Wars. Old, but still fierce, puts honor above anything else, despises Undead… To be honest felt like a moron, because no one was RPing. Whenever I grouped with anyone, people left group as soon as the quests were finished. That’s my RP experience in Classic lol
Examples of common unacceptable or disruptive RP names include (but are not limited to):
- Non-medieval or non-fantasy names (For example: Slipnslide, Robotman, Discoinferno)
- Names that reference well known people, characters, brands, places, or icons (For example: Britneyspears, Austinpowers, Mcdonalds, Georgewashington, Newyork)
- Names that consist of multiple words (For example: Inyourface, Welovebeef, Howareyou, Sixtyseventy)
This is Blizzard’s RP naming policy.
I’d agree that “Dots” could be interpreted in an RP way, as a form of “Dot” short for “Dorothy.” Other than that, I’m not sure what your point is exactly. Go to Orgrimmar and see how long it takes to see someone with a name that breaks the policy above. I guarantee it won’t be long.
My point was I’ve seen RP heads go full r-tard over names that don’t break RP rules, and just because you don’t like it and report it doesn’t mean anything will happen. But there are always going to be IPwnsU and such forth appearing now and then. Such is life
Knew this would happen, I predicted it would go the same way as Defias Brotherhood and it looks like I was right.
Enjoy grasping onto a dying realm once again
Well, yeah, names that don’t break the RP naming policy obviously don’t need to be changed. Do you think names like “Satansintern” or “Wankylad” can be justified in an RP sense? Should I just not bother reporting them because they’re going to appear now and then and that’s life?
Those are names that consist of multiple words are are breaking RP rules! Report away!
At this point, we need a new rp server.
