Zandalar Tribe RP-PVP is a failure of epic proportions, and it's all Blizzard's fault!

This has been a deal with RP-pvp servers since back in the day. I played on a RP-pvp server during TBC and I didn’t even notice any RP. RP-PvP is more about the cozy vibe. Real RP only occurs on RP servers.

I disagree. In vanilla I started at Earthen Ring (RP) and moved to Defias Brotherhood (RP-PvP) when it was launched and Zandalar Tribe feels just like Defias Brotherhood.

I see Roleplay while most players are just running around doing their stuff. The good thing about ZT, just like DB is that a RP server has a tad more “mature” crowd.

My time as horde in ZT has been awesome. I have met very few “bad” people. Even if we are outnumbered by alliance (at least so they say), It seems to me that there are at least the same number, if not more, horde players than Defias Brothernood.

Its an awesome server. Particulary Horde side! Join ZT and join the good guys! (Horde) and kill those gnomes!

Got to agree, besides some RPing from and the Barrens fireside chats from I don’t see any RP’ing going on which is a bit discouraging, since I rolled mainly to chill and RP. Now I don’t really even report players with Non-RP names because it feels like blowing against the wind. It really feels no different then Al’Akir back when I started playing in the original game.

Reroll to Hydraxion Waterlords, there is a lot more of a roleplay feel to the realm. There still obviously is the occasional, obvious non-RP name, but I just report it and move on, and try not to get too bothered by it if I see it again - I just accept how incompetent Blizzard is nowadays about bigger issues, so why would they spend their time scanning RP realm naming reports? If you are worried about no PvP on a normal RP realm, well you won’t miss out too much. There are many WPvP events happening throughout the day and I imagine it is mostly better quality PvP than on the large PvP realms, i.e. smaller groups, 1v1, organised city raids etc, than the massive laggy, zerg rush ganking on Zandalar Tribe and other PvP realms.

I’m really enjoying my new experience so far on Hydraxian Waterlords. I’ve joined a casual/social guild while leveling, made new friends that I’ve been playing with regularly and I still get my RP fix now and again in the open world. The cities are vibrant and full of interesting characters. I hope they open up paid realm transfers as I’d happily pay to move my Zandalar Tribe characters to Hydraxian Waterlords. Although I’m loving my new priest and warrior!

I chose ZT because it was a PvP server that didn’t have big queue times on release. I personally don’t RP but have no issue with people that do. I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t be able to mind my own buissiness and PvP on an RPPvP server.

all the pve realms are RP realms

On Alli side, I never seen anyone getting ridiculed for rping(Which is against TOS to harass people on RP server for it btw.). And I see a lot of “weird” things which was probably rp and there are guilds that rp too, but Im not into these things so I never participated in such things.

Dont know about all that, but from personal experience more than half of all player names are in direct violation of the naming policy for RP servers, by any combination of;

  • Complete sentences in “leetspeak”
  • Containing celebrity names with just enough wìërd âÇÇéñtß to by pass automatic detection
  • Containing brand names
  • Containing protected titles (ingame/realworld)*
  • Containing profanity/mature language*

*) usually these are written in a non english language to ‘cleverly’ circumvent rules.

At this point it’s impossible to report them all, and even if you did notting will happen - blizzard moderation is done by mob rule; you need more than X reports for a GM to even be notified, and the more reports the more likely they will take action. This also means that you can effectively force rename anybody by having enough players report that their name is a discriminatory slur in some obscure EU lang

Agreed.
PvP and PvE server rulesets are enforced by game design and not opt-out, so all that’s left is to rely on people to actually give two %"#s about the RP part of RP-PvP, and that Blizzard does anything to manage it.

RP is all but dead on the alliance side, I’ve largely stopped bothering because of how many interactions just ended with out of character responses and smilies if not downright ridicule.

The number of dumb names and people who certainly didn’t roll on here for a more mature playerbase is staggering.

What’s the point if it’s just gonna be PvP server #19?

People came largely because of queues and stayed because it was actually a server where the h*rde wasn’t more than 60% of the population. I’m glad I transferred out.

AFAIK it’s about 56% ally, 44% horde (according to unreliable websites checked multiple times). It was close to 60/40 a couple of weeks back but the gap is slowly narrowing.

Is it wierd that I like ZT?

I’m not massive into RP, but i enjoy seeing people bring the server alive in Ironforge and Stormwind with their RP.

I do agree that blizzard pushed way to many pure PVP players to ZT by having massivly underestimated prognoses for launch, and we all warned them as well.

but now that we have free transfers, we should all just be reporting the blatent NON-RP names, report people for interfearing with RP events and mocking RP players…

AND BLIZZARD SHOULD ACT ON THOSE REPORTS and force people to transfer to a PVP server of their choosing when they are multiple time offenders…

Wanting to put forward my 2 pennies.

When I was on The Shatar realm, I learned very quickly to removed myself from all channels. I only interacted with what I saw on my screen -and for the most part I have a lot of happy memories.

Did I run dungeons when I wanted to? Hardly.

Did I find regular friends to be around? Absolutely! My undead priest would stumble into an area after getting a polite and short (ooc) message.

I got all the way to level 70, which didn’t “take ages” -it felt like it took “just the right amount of time”.

PVP is the failure of RP, has always been since UO 24 years ago.

There should be an rp mode that can just be toggled on, then you only see other rp’ers.

And you don’t think this would be literally instantly flooded by non-rp’ers too?
Really?

At least you wouldn’t have general clueless non rp’ers AND trolls. Would just be the trolls in theory, no way to avoid that.

You could say that about RP servers too and we all know how that turned out lol

Ye but they’d have to do the toggle.
Hmm, or how about private guild shards. Multiple guilds share a shard.
