no Barak was not right. its what Danaoss said, we didn’t want retail features on classic. letting obvious bugs exist does not come under no changes. im sure at some point they were fixed because they were NOT intended.
everyone has different memories of how things were back then. mix that in with peoples attitudes in 2020 being different to 2004 and people having honed themselves on private servers for the last 15 years and you will obviously have something that is not what we remembered. that doesn’t mean bugs should be allowed.
and if i am right, wasn’t classic possible because someone happened to find a server from 1.12 (which is why classic is based on 1.12) or whatever, and blizz had no older copies. so, whos to say that some things AREN’T as blizz is saying they are?
in short, fixing bugs is not a bad thing. are we really wanting 2 years+ of a game with not a single bug being fixed? (including the ones blizz creates themselves now by doing classic?)
Yeah mages are clearly the best class to farm as. But if you haven’t tried it, it’s not actually all that easy. It does take A LOT of focus and trial and error and dare I say skill.
Also, if you have several hours per day to spend farming gold (and to learn how to farm gold, as I said, it’s nor automatic or easy), it means you have enough time to level a Mage alt to do it on.
It’s to late, some guys on my server had 90k gold before ZG.
TBC economy is already ruined.
Reset gold on TBC is the only solution.
Otherwise, it will prevent lot of people to subscribe for TBC. Economy is a big part of the game. If I want to play a game when economy is non-sense and everyone is filled with full golds, I play Retail.
Classic is like a corrupted pirate server where Game Master give free golds to friends.
All these suggestions have other consequences on the game, especially the last one. You are suggesting breaking the most popular class in the game completely for a stupid pathing issue that can be easily fixed.
There is one and easy solution:
Fix mobs’ pathing. Connect ZG bridge and maraudon totem and ZF wal pathings so mobs will not run the other way around when you jump down. That’s it.
Killing 1-2 croc packs at a time isn’t a big deal and its tolerable.
The overwhelming majority of the gold comes from players trading gold to the mage, in exchange for the xp boosting service.
Removing this one (ZG) just moves the mage back to Maraudon or ZF, but hardly affects his income.
Why are ya’ll so dumb??
Why are you pro Vanilla? Vanilla 2.0 would have been way more fun and successful imo. Classic was massively overhyped. I took level 60 and cleared all current content in 8 days of play time.
I have played emulated Vanilla almost daily since 2015. I love >this< game. I know that. I don’t know if I would love some other version. It would probably suck (the first thing Activision Blizzard did when they got their hands on Vanilla was to implement sharding and telling the community).
I am all for a Classic+ or wow 2.0 on the side as long as we have Classic with no changes. Activision Blizzard can make a Mobile version with gems and tokens for gold and pets and skins for all I care as long as we have Classic with #Nochanges also.
By now, mages could make infinite amounts of gold if they tried. No point in fixing anything now IMO. “Clever use of game mechanics” or “exploit”, doesn’t matter.
It’s core gameplay mechanics.
It would be like nerfing warriors and rogues in PVE “because they do more damage”.
Just go back to retail, you don’t belong here. Your opinions are ridiculously uninformed and completely unwelcome. Imagine if Blizzard listens to your toxic nonsense and turn the game into retail.
So they reset gold when they release TBC and within a month of people hitting 70 those players who are on 90k gold will be back to an obscene amount of gold from abusing layering and knowing all the exploitable farming spots. This is always going to happen when you play a re-released game and people know every way to cut corners.
Little question since I’m mostly ignorant on what happened all these years on private servers and such.
Did the ZG, Maraudon and ZF graveyard farms all happened on private servers too ? Or is it something fresh for Classic ? I’m always amazed on how people find all these tricks (Hence why I watch a lot of game speedruns and such) so I’m curious to know since how long they were known ?
Yes, people were doing it on private servers too. I remember doing did the same tricks / paths on my Mage back in TBC, but I can’t remember if all of them were done in Vanilla. Not sure about the ZG.
You might want to google “inflation”. What is going to happen is that prices will go up, because mages can afford to pay pretty much anything for whatever.
This is false, if you advertise for boost, you boost 3 man, 5 run per hours = 300 gold just for boosting. Then, 50g more with bijous. Total : 350g/h, do that 5 hours a day = 1750 gold. Do that for 1 month every day, it’s 55k gold. Oh, and don’t tell me it’s impossible especially with Covid-19 quarantine that happened.
Nice TBC economy incoming by the way … disgusting and to late to fix it. Fresh server for TBC Blizzard please, otherwise I guess we will be back to Shadowlands.
Also your math don’t include the time to find people to boost, and you assume that some people have 10k gold to throw at the mage to boost them, Wich means someone already have that amount of gold.
