[A-RP] Dirge of Teldrassil 🌑

Born of strife, the Dirge of Teldrassil is a group of irregular combatants serving the interests of the Kaldorei and their Gilnean allies both at home and abroad. Led by this mandate, the Dirge has experienced a wide myriad of adventures and encountered a colourful array of both friend and foe from just about every walk of life to walk the face of Azeroth, and beyond. The path of the Dirge is not an easy one, but those that step on it forge bonds of iron with their fellow compatriots.

Overview:

The Dirge of Teldrassil is a hybrid Night Elf - Gilnean guild of partisan fighters borne of the chaos of the Fourth War, forged out of once ordinary Night Elf civilians to possible covert wolf cult members and everything in-between! Therefore its membership is broad, and it is entirely possible to join as a character with a more traditional combat background, or someone entirely new to the art of war!

Activity:

The Dirge is an active guild with events happening very frequently, particularly on the week-days though a general norm of 1-2 off-days per week is followed. The guilds scheduled activity & events take place between 8 PM and 11 PM Server Time. Our events are many and varied but combat role-play can be considered a mainstay. Most events follow a general plot focused on what-ever region of Azeroth (or beyond) we traverse to. Character action is respected & valued and can decisively alter the outcome of events & entire storylines. Member led events & storylines are also encouraged and aided by the officers.

Recruitment:

Via in-game whispers, mail or Discord. There will be a small interview to affirm your acceptance of the three rules & getting to know each other!

Additional info:

The Ranks:

The Harbinger, their leader, Darkcrests - the senior officers, Ashsabers - the junior officers, the Militants and the Partisans. Partisans hold no oath to the Dirge and their presence is understood to be on a voluntary basis. When a Partisan has proven themselves to the Dirge, they take the Oath of Militancy and partake in a ritual marking, becoming Militants and gaining both trust but also risk penalty should they betray the Dirge from that point on. Should a Militant prove themselves further by exceptional and long-standing service they may be given the honour of the Ashsaber’s Hunt: a test of leadership against a notable foe of the Dirge. Should they succeed, they shall rise in rank and be considered trusted to lead the troops in the absence of either the Darkcrest or the Harbinger.

Systems:

The Dirge utilises an opt-in d20 rolling system (meaning we generally roll via /roll 20) with a light roll modifier system of 15-20-25 distributed between three primary stats for your character: strength, agility and intelligence. Such rolls would either be prompted by the DM, or otherwise fall under either the players discretion or the general agreed-upon system with the wider group. This, and other systems may be introduced/altered in the future pertaining to player feedback.

The Three Rules:

The Dirge of Teldrassil is part of the A³ - Across All Azeroth, a WoW RP initiative to bolster & maintain the high quality of RP on the server we all know it for. We, like all of the guilds of the A³ follow three simple rules that we expect every one of our members to also follow in their conduct within WoW. (if you’re like me you had followed these already regardless): 1) No ERP 2) No OOC talk in spatial channels, ergo /s, /e or /y 3) Keeping IC IC and OOC OOC

Love the smell of Horde blood in the morning. We just wanna keep our forest clean.

We love our Horde, both dead and alive. Also Watrus is going to outlive another of their member when we will zoom around!

Not really. I think it’s a fair question, trying to bury it with a flurry of new messages instead of talking suggests there hasn’t been much change.
Guilds in this clique have a very bed rep for a good reason and if you’re trying to start a new page, the least you could do is to demonstrate it by being transparent about who you are and what you do. If it’s a different three letter name for the same thing, this isn’t a good thing, but you’re welcome to start talking and tell the forum about what you stand for and how you’re different from the old poopcu.
I’m not the only community member curious about this, so go ahead and show you’ve changed if you have.

No one is trying to bury your question. People are simply excited about the changes and wish to express that.
The Dirge of Teldrassil has been under-going changes for a long time now, to distance ourselves from things and people we no longer associate with. The idea of creating a new forum post was, in my opinion, a way of us being transparent about who you are and what you do.
Personally, I think that change must start with one’s own actions and I believe that I speak for the Dirge when I ask that people judge us based on the RP that we engage in and promote today and not that which it’s current members had no involvement with years ago. I hope this answers your question.

The backup dancing is just weird at this point

This guild has always been real, without question. While your concern makes sense, it does stray from the purpose of this thread. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in-game—through whispers or letters—anyone will be happy to help.

Thanks, that’s helpful. A fresh start is definitely welcome, particularly distancing from the bad old. Talk is cheap, and the old group said a lot of things which turned out to be just words. But a fresh start is definitely welcome and I’m probably not the only one happy to give those wiling to build a new thing the benefit of the doubt. Do you mind if I dump a few more questions on you? You don’t have to answer, but I think it would put a lot of people at ease. With apologies to @gruggosh for going offtopic, I feel like a private conversation wouldn’t give the visibility to things that many people are wondering about.

  1. How is Aaa different from the old pcu? if the name didn’t change, would it be recognisable as a different thing? What prompted several guilds to rebrand at once since Dirge isn’t the only one?
  2. How many guilds are in it? Not all guilds openly label themselves as associates. Is there a list of member guilds? (I imagine it’s surviving pcu groups?)
  3. Who runs it? Are there any figureheads or is it more of a horde council type of thing? Like, who would I need to contact if I were to take up Gruggosh on his offer to ask more questions? Does every aaa officer speaks for every guild in the group like before?

I have seen some of the old pcu guilds leave their old circles and meeting with people outside of their usual groups, which is honestly great. I’ll always interact with anyone myself, so 100% behind starting a new page if it’s indeed a new page.
Thanks again for your answers and I’ll get out of your hair for now.

Sure, I’ll take a moment to explain, though not in full detail:

  1. We’re a community made up of many different guilds, and carrying a name with no real connection to us wouldn’t have made sense long-term—I’m sure you’d agree. I’d say this is a tough one to answer—probably best to see for yourself.
  2. Currently, we’re made up of 12 guilds. There’s no requirement to display a guild tag—we’re simply a community that enjoys hosting RP together. You’re welcome to roleplay with us without being officially tied to any guild.
  3. Each guild has its own Guild Master and Officers, as expected. We don’t have any singular figureheads, just the Guild Masters running things.

Hope that helps clarify things! Enjoy your day, and my in-game mailbox is always open if you need anything further.

Gruggosh’s answer sums up everything perfectly (and likely better than I could ever put it). I hope this explains things to yourself and to anyone else who had the same questions.
As you mentioned, we’re working hard to create an environment where collaboration with the wider community is commonplace - the Dirge has certainly been engaging in community events for the past two years that I’ve been with them and we plan to continue with this. The more fun collaboration with others, the better!

If you have any questions related specifically to the Dirge of Teldrassil, please feel free to ask them here or reach out to one of our officers in-game. I hope this has helped answer your questions.

Very happy to see the Dirge of Teldrassil brand new post ! The Moonrise Hermitage interacts with them every now and then, and so for the past two years and every run-in always have been so pleasant.

I think none of us ever knew why you guys were affiliated with the PCU before you just rebranded ahah.

For the sake of not derailing a guild advertisement thread any further, I think it’s best if this discussion is taken to a new thread make for this exact purpose.

Hope the guild does well, Dirge folks.

Thanks Shogganosh. Now, if anyone visiting this post have any questions about the guild. Or if ya wanna join in.

Try to contact either Yier, Elizaberta or Me, Irent (and Telasri, my other char) via in-game letters or whispers. (I’m saying it here since I see Yier forget to mention it…)
