[A-RP] Dirge of Teldrassil šŸŒ‘

Born of strife, the Dirge of Teldrassil is a group of irregular combatants serving the interests of the Kaldorei and their Gilnean allies both at home and abroad. Led by this mandate, the Dirge has experienced a wide myriad of adventures and encountered a colourful array of both friend and foe from just about every walk of life to walk the face of Azeroth, and beyond. The path of the Dirge is not an easy one, but those that step on it forge bonds of iron with their fellow compatriots.

Overview:

The Dirge of Teldrassil is a hybrid Night Elf - Gilnean guild of partisan fighters borne of the chaos of the Fourth War, forged out of once ordinary Night Elf civilians to possible covert wolf cult members and everything in-between! Therefore its membership is broad, and it is entirely possible to join as a character with a more traditional combat background, or someone entirely new to the art of war!

Activity:

The Dirge is an active guild with events happening very frequently, particularly on the week-days though a general norm of 1-2 off-days per week is followed. The guilds scheduled activity & events take place between 8 PM and 11 PM Server Time. Our events are many and varied but combat role-play can be considered a mainstay. Most events follow a general plot focused on what-ever region of Azeroth (or beyond) we traverse to. Character action is respected & valued and can decisively alter the outcome of events & entire storylines. Member led events & storylines are also encouraged and aided by the officers.

Recruitment:

Via in-game whispers, mail or Discord. There will be a small interview to affirm your acceptance of the three rules & getting to know each other!

Additional info:

The Ranks:

The Harbinger, their leader, Darkcrests - the senior officers, Ashsabers - the junior officers, the Militants and the Partisans. Partisans hold no oath to the Dirge and their presence is understood to be on a voluntary basis. When a Partisan has proven themselves to the Dirge, they take the Oath of Militancy and partake in a ritual marking, becoming Militants and gaining both trust but also risk penalty should they betray the Dirge from that point on. Should a Militant prove themselves further by exceptional and long-standing service they may be given the honour of the Ashsaberā€™s Hunt: a test of leadership against a notable foe of the Dirge. Should they succeed, they shall rise in rank and be considered trusted to lead the troops in the absence of either the Darkcrest or the Harbinger.

Systems:

The Dirge utilises an opt-in d20 rolling system (meaning we generally roll via /roll 20) with a light roll modifier system of 15-20-25 distributed between three primary stats for your character: strength, agility and intelligence. Such rolls would either be prompted by the DM, or otherwise fall under either the players discretion or the general agreed-upon system with the wider group. This, and other systems may be introduced/altered in the future pertaining to player feedback.

The Three Rules:

The Dirge of Teldrassil is part of the AĀ³ - Across All Azeroth, a WoW RP initiative to bolster & maintain the high quality of RP on the server we all know it for. We, like all of the guilds of the AĀ³ follow three simple rules that we expect every one of our members to also follow in their conduct within WoW. (if youā€™re like me you had followed these already regardless): 1) No ERP 2) No OOC talk in spatial channels, ergo /s, /e or /y 3) Keeping IC IC and OOC OOC

Not really. I think itā€™s a fair question, trying to bury it with a flurry of new messages instead of talking suggests there hasnā€™t been much change.
Guilds in this clique have a very bed rep for a good reason and if youā€™re trying to start a new page, the least you could do is to demonstrate it by being transparent about who you are and what you do. If itā€™s a different three letter name for the same thing, this isnā€™t a good thing, but youā€™re welcome to start talking and tell the forum about what you stand for and how youā€™re different from the old poopcu.
Iā€™m not the only community member curious about this, so go ahead and show youā€™ve changed if you have.

No one is trying to bury your question. People are simply excited about the changes and wish to express that.
The Dirge of Teldrassil has been under-going changes for a long time now, to distance ourselves from things and people we no longer associate with. The idea of creating a new forum post was, in my opinion, a way of us being transparent about who you are and what you do.
Personally, I think that change must start with oneā€™s own actions and I believe that I speak for the Dirge when I ask that people judge us based on the RP that we engage in and promote today and not that which itā€™s current members had no involvement with years ago. I hope this answers your question.

The backup dancing is just weird at this point

This guild has always been real, without question. While your concern makes sense, it does stray from the purpose of this thread. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in-gameā€”through whispers or lettersā€”anyone will be happy to help.

Thanks, thatā€™s helpful. A fresh start is definitely welcome, particularly distancing from the bad old. Talk is cheap, and the old group said a lot of things which turned out to be just words. But a fresh start is definitely welcome and Iā€™m probably not the only one happy to give those wiling to build a new thing the benefit of the doubt. Do you mind if I dump a few more questions on you? You donā€™t have to answer, but I think it would put a lot of people at ease. With apologies to @gruggosh for going offtopic, I feel like a private conversation wouldnā€™t give the visibility to things that many people are wondering about.

  1. How is Aaa different from the old pcu? if the name didnā€™t change, would it be recognisable as a different thing? What prompted several guilds to rebrand at once since Dirge isnā€™t the only one?
  2. How many guilds are in it? Not all guilds openly label themselves as associates. Is there a list of member guilds? (I imagine itā€™s surviving pcu groups?)
  3. Who runs it? Are there any figureheads or is it more of a horde council type of thing? Like, who would I need to contact if I were to take up Gruggosh on his offer to ask more questions? Does every aaa officer speaks for every guild in the group like before?

I have seen some of the old pcu guilds leave their old circles and meeting with people outside of their usual groups, which is honestly great. Iā€™ll always interact with anyone myself, so 100% behind starting a new page if itā€™s indeed a new page.
Thanks again for your answers and Iā€™ll get out of your hair for now.

Sure, Iā€™ll take a moment to explain, though not in full detail:

  1. Weā€™re a community made up of many different guilds, and carrying a name with no real connection to us wouldnā€™t have made sense long-termā€”Iā€™m sure youā€™d agree. Iā€™d say this is a tough one to answerā€”probably best to see for yourself.
  2. Currently, weā€™re made up of 12 guilds. Thereā€™s no requirement to display a guild tagā€”weā€™re simply a community that enjoys hosting RP together. Youā€™re welcome to roleplay with us without being officially tied to any guild.
  3. Each guild has its own Guild Master and Officers, as expected. We donā€™t have any singular figureheads, just the Guild Masters running things.

Hope that helps clarify things! Enjoy your day, and my in-game mailbox is always open if you need anything further.

Gruggoshā€™s answer sums up everything perfectly (and likely better than I could ever put it). I hope this explains things to yourself and to anyone else who had the same questions.
As you mentioned, weā€™re working hard to create an environment where collaboration with the wider community is commonplace - the Dirge has certainly been engaging in community events for the past two years that Iā€™ve been with them and we plan to continue with this. The more fun collaboration with others, the better!

If you have any questions related specifically to the Dirge of Teldrassil, please feel free to ask them here or reach out to one of our officers in-game. I hope this has helped answer your questions.

Very happy to see the Dirge of Teldrassil brand new post ! The Moonrise Hermitage interacts with them every now and then, and so for the past two years and every run-in always have been so pleasant.

I think none of us ever knew why you guys were affiliated with the PCU before you just rebranded ahah.

For the sake of not derailing a guild advertisement thread any further, I think itā€™s best if this discussion is taken to a new thread make for this exact purpose.

Hope the guild does well, Dirge folks.

Try to contact either Yier, Elizaberta or Me, Irent (and Telasri, my other char) via in-game letters or whispers. (Iā€™m saying it here since I see Yier forget to mention itā€¦)

The Defilers Ruin - Preamble

The Dirge, having grown to miss the genuine night-sky too much to bear took a sojourn to Dornogal, where they by chance met with a Druid of the Grove, one Maladir Falloak who had come to the island investigating local rumours of Gnoll sightings. With the islands proximity to Kalimdor and the events of the Azure Span still fresh in mind the threat was obvious to all.

Searching the nearby forest the braves came face to face with a vile defiler, a Gnoll Rotmancer already busy infecting the woodlands with its foul magics. With incensed fury the creature was struck and felled, but not before managing to utter a cryptic taunt. Searching the beastā€™s camp they were disturbed to find evidence of further Gnolls on the isle, as well as a strange message tablet taken for further analysis, while the Dirgeā€™s rangers slipped into the woodlands to try and hunt the enemy down.

By the next evening the message had been deciphered, its contents sending Maladir near wordlessly bolting outside with only a promise to call upon the Dirge. Meanwhile the rangers discover another campsite, though a scene of a battle that had left one Gnoll already slain. As the sky began to already darken a messenger owl finally comes from the druid, but it is an urgent plea for aid! Following after the sage-bird, they find him badly wounded near the hills to the far north of the isle. The Gnolls had not come by sea, he explained but rather by the aid of some kind of giant ravens. Ravens that were poised to return soon and take the Gnolls away and out of reach if they were not quick to act. Hurried by those words and speeding forwards they found their final prey high up in the cliffs, clearly waiting for something. During the ensuing fight the Dirge tried to reason with the beast: its knowledge for its life, yet its bestial wrath was too much and so the mortal blow was given. It was not long there after that the sound of great wings carried to their ears and upon looking up saw a great black raven, come from somewhere far away beyond the seas. Circling the battlefield a few times its eyes betrayed a sinister intelligence as those below felt themselves observed. And then, as soon as it had arrived it left, heading out towards the open sea.

Arriving soon thereafter, the Druid could only speculate: more answers would only come later, and with the aid of his brethren back in Kalimdor. Yet it seems clear that this battle is far from overā€¦

Having travelled to Khaz Algar & explored its cavernous depths the Dirge will soon be returning to Kalimdor for a storylineā€¦ the safety of the sacred forest is threatened, though by what? Only time will tellā€¦

Looking down from the wide expanse of Shattrath City, Elizaberta eyed the distance swamps of Zangarmarsh. It was strange to think of the first time that she had walked that land - years ago now - when she had first joined the Dirge. She had been a different person back then; time and consequence had changed her. Where once sheā€™d felt such a burning hatred, she found there was nothing much left to hate. The sight of that place wasnā€™t no longer filled with memories of bloodshed. As she gazed down upon the world below, it was something else that she remembered most of allā€¦

There was an ache in her leg, from the battle that theyā€™d just fought. But it was the injured leg that made her stumble - it was the drink she had take for the pain. Regardless, she was unsteady and it had been Vhaala who had noticed first.
ā€œIā€™ll walk you over, just in case,ā€ The druid smiled. Eliza had returned her smile and nodded gratefully.

All the while that Eliza had stumbled, Vhaala had been by her side and, when at last she had found the warm bed she would sleep on, the druid had waited until she was laid in it.
ā€œThis will do nicely. Iā€™ll come and check on you later.ā€ Her words had been soft as always and Eliza wondered how she had found herself amongst people so kind.

ā€œT-Thanks again, Vhaalaā€¦ā€ She yawned, lazily. ā€œYouā€™re a good friendā€¦ā€ Her consciousness was slipping but she could still hear the last thing that the druid said aloud.

ā€œThatā€™s what family is for.ā€ Her whisper warmed Elizaā€™s heart. As Vhaala draped a blanket over her sore body, the Dirgeā€™s newest member drifted off to sleep, her pain subsidingā€¦

Elizaā€™s eyes were drawn away from the faraway sands of Hellfire Peninsula and, instead, she turned her attention back to the city, where the Dirge rested, preparing for their next move. More had changed than she could recount, since that night. She missed Vhaala. She missed them all.
Tightening her jaw, she looked down. The wooden wolf charm remained fastened to her belt. She reached one claw out to touch it and swallowed, softly.

With one swift motion, she mounted her charger and kicked the mare on.
ā€œCā€™mon, ā€˜Melza,ā€ She took the reins in her hands. ā€œWe have a promise to keep.ā€
