Single items can be useful if you only need 1 or 2 of them and not a whole stack.

DBM and Big Wiggs came out during patch 1.10/1.11 (End of AQ40. like more than 16 months after release)
Before that was only CTRA (CT_raidAssist from mid MC to End of AQ40) but it was not a big deal because his job was only to display in the middle of the screen what the boss yelled in the chat window. And before that was the role of Raid Leader to shout in the TeamSpeak.
I had boss mods in MC, for fact. So does not matter what names they had, they existed.
And we are not on launch patch anyway, so whats the point. Also there were a lot of mods already on very early days, but people pretend as if everyone played on default UI.

I legitmately dont understand what the point is of putting 60-80 linen cloth up in singles when you can sell them just as easily as stacks. Screw those AH addons i’ll never buy from single spammers.

You cant. Believe me, people buy the cheapest price and the first thing that pops up on their search list. So you are wrong. Why would someone post something in stacks when your items would be hidden to most people?
They weren’t powerfull like nowadays, boss attacks weren’t displayed with a castbar announcing in how much time the fear or next attack will be cast and on who.
You got just a message suddenly and you had to react quickly.

On the contrary - a lot of groups used pretty sophisticated private mods. DBM and BW also originally were private guild mods. On my old videos I see clearly timers for different boss abilities, some of those mods were written by my guild mates, and I doubt we were even remotely unique-
So no - what you think you know, but you dont.

Those functionality were public during patch 1.10/1.11 like I said, now if some private devs wrote them for some specific guilds that doesn’t concern us because that not what the majority used back days.

Best way to get rid of the singles is to… Download Auctionator yourself 
It sounds toxic, but I’ve found that this is the best way to find the stacks and skip the singles.
I did, I was in a tiny guild that went up to C’thun in AQ40 and Patchwerk before the pre-BC patch ruined months of guild works with the free Rank 14 weapons.
You cannot speak for whole community or player base - no matter how popular this is on forums here.
