AV situation is unplayable as alliance

cant repeat it often enough. long story short… joining an av as alliance mostly starts with “dont forget to turn in rep items” -> “def sh for an hour” -> why? cause its rep items.

Map should be changed. Everyone who says not, is blind, or don’t want the change, because he likes the easy horde wins. Map is better for horde because of changes made for horde in Vanilla, when horde loses a lot. Now should be changed back, especially push back horde cave. If map will be more playable for alliance, more alliance players will join = horde will have shorter queues. That’s whole story.

Yes, this strategy works, if you have a 30-man premade, with good equipment and all 100% mounts and even than it can be easily countered by Horde. This only works if Horde ignores the rushing alliance players.

Horde babies as well cried to Blizzard to fix premades for alliance, because their ego got hurt, that alliance is trying to win. Best argument was, it would benefit Alliance as well, because bgs wouldn’t start half empty… The result was Horde won even more games than ever after that change.

You get as Alliance in AV so little Honor. I do the Honor I get in AV in 9h of playtime in 3h of AB. In worst case you are in an AV for one hour and get out of it with 1-2k honor. It’s just frustrating.

But you are right Alliance AV is best for Farming afk honor / rep, because reporting is ineffective. I have seen the same player afking and telling me he is afking in multiple BGs for multiple weeks I have reported them like 30 times, and they can still do it.

But as is said, People on Alliance who are actually interested in PVP avoid AV at all cost. They go AB or WS and have a positive win rate there.

Put in the retail point system. Cant remember how it is but think its 2500 or 5000 you get point for towers and bunkers, balinda and such. thats fair.

Blizzard should just reverse the map. Just for a week.
Then the “uber skilled” horde players, will learn a hard truth about the map. In order to win from ally side? You need to play a perfect game.
In order to win from horde side? You just need to break the rush in the field of strife, hold IBGY, and should ally cap it? We wont have any defenders to hold SHGY. And you keep comming in and kill 1-2-3 ally. And retake IBGY.

A reverse of the map please.

fine, push the horde cave back into the south, lets see if it helps you win more.
spoiler: it won’t help at all. you’ll still lose 9/10 games.

its a player attitude problem, not a map problem.

i am getting flashbacks to a few weeks ago when everyone was crying about the alliance base backdoor that apparently the horde was abusing quote: “11/10 games” and that if it was fixed it meant alliance would be able to win…
surprise, surprise, you’re still losing every game…

why? because you deluded yourselves into believing that the backdoor exploit was an oftenly used tactic, when really it was used in like 2/10 games at most.

now you’re moving on to the horde cave location (moving the goalpost) and i know for a fact that you will NEVER stop crying about it, so lets just move it already so that you guys can see for yourselves that the cave location is not the reason you get utterly, blasted in AV.

but tbh you’re better off just admitting its a player attitude problem and work to fix that, if you really want to win games because i guarantee you that you will still be losing 9/10 games even if the cave is moved south.

Same here. I am currently Warlord and have played hundreds(thousands) of AVs. I can remember one time where going backdoor made any difference.

One time.

But i dont know which side is right. Maybe the SH gy/IB gy mirror is horde favoured. It’s not out of the realm of possibility.

You’re absolutely right and it’s disgusting none of these design flaws were talked about when they decided to ‘fix’ AV recently based on stuff ‘the devs clearly didn’t intend back then’.

  • Horde players spawning 40% closer to main objectives
  • IWB choke with a completely flat downhill area towards defending alliance
  • Alliance GY designs that allow infinite corpse ganking (SHGY & SPGY)

This guarantees at least 1 Wing Commander, Shamans (Lok’Holar) and NPC upgrades with damage / HP bonuses for the horde in every game. Nearly half the games you play as Alliance are close to completely 0 bonus honor until the very end of the game when horde decides to push north and lets the IWB choke slip.

Blaming ‘Alliance attitude’ is a complete joke. There’s a real attempt going on every game but after nearly 4 months of <10% winrate now that premades were gotten rid of you can’t really expect a high morale.

You do understand the backdoors haven’t been fixed yet? None of the fixes are live as of now.

why not all alliance stop playing av piss horde off and do some wsg and ab

I’ve been wondering lately whether Horde players appreciated their massive and obvious advantages in 1.12 AV or whether they just thought they were great at the game. This thread has given me a chuckle, thanks lads. Zug zug.

thank you blizzard for taking away the possibility to form premades. now whole av is useless sihtfest for alliance. fml.

av could have been the greatest battleground yet its by far the worst and most disgusting bg  all you have on alliance is low levels, rep farmers, turtlers and bots+afkers who are not even trying to hide themselve being afk leeching or botting and just come up with insults because oh well blizz doesnt care much I guess.

Why not make it so you only get rep by turning them in yourself. why not make it you only get kill rep by tagging the target. why not make it honor gained only in 100 yard range and upon tagging the target too. why not make it lvl 60 only? why is it that hard to make this bg great?

Alliance should just boycot AV tbh.

how are healers going to get rep and honor?

It’s not the alliance attitude, it’s just the honor per hour meta. Turtle games favor the horde whereas the alliance meta is all about gaining the bonus honor asap and then farming random solo kills somewhere far away from the mob. No amount of patches or fixes can change this.

Controversial fix: Let everyone do full premades for AV. Make it into realm wars. That’ll get rid of the complaints about faction.

The only solution to faction imbalance is to fix Horde spawn point to bottom south as it was clearly intended back in the day.

Oh REALLY?

Let’s take a look at that claim, shall we?

Alterac Valley

  • Additional Warmasters no longer report for duty upon destroying an enemy tower. However, destroying an enemy tower still eliminates the associated opposing Warmaster.
  • All Warmasters are linked to each other and their respective Generals and can no longer be pulled individually.
  • Honor from capturing towers has been increased.
  • All Commanders and Lieutenants have left Alterac Valley in search for other battle opportunities.
  • Players will no longer be sent to their starting tunnels on death unless that team controls no graveyards in the battleground.
  • Many NPCs in Stormpike and Frostwolf holds are no longer elite
  • Bonus Honor in Alterac Valley is now only awarded during the battle for destroying enemy towers and slaying the enemy Captain. Upon conclusion of the battle, bonus honor is also awarded for intact towers, a surviving Captain, and for victory in the battle. The total bonus honor awarded should be similar to the previous total.
  • The Horde and Alliance now have a limited number of reinforcements available in the battle for Alterac Valley. The number of reinforcements available is reduced upon player death, loss of towers, and death of Captain Galvangar or Balinda Stonehearth. In addition, all available reinforcements are lost upon the death of General Drek’Thar or Vanndar Stormpike. If a team is reduced to zero reinforcements, the opposing team wins the battle.
  • Towers and Graveyards in Alterac Valley are now captured in 4 minutes (down from 5).

This was patch 2.3.0.

Key points to take notice of are the removal of lieutenants and commanders, the increased honor from towers/bunkers, the change of spawn points when dying so you can only ress in the cave once all graveyards are gone, and MOST IMPORTANTLY:
The introduction of RESOURCES.

So what did this do? Well, it changed the meta. By a lot. The asymmetrical design of the map no longer worked, because it wasn’t about the PvP anymore.

It became about the PvE. But people still rushed to the end, because it assured victory with the most amount of bunkers/towers left, so in Patch 2.4.0 they made further changes.

https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Patch_2.4.0

Alterac Valley

  • Captain Balinda Stonehearth can no longer be interrupted, silenced, or have her spells slowed. In addition, her water elemental cannot be banished, and does increased damage.
  • Vanndar Stormpike and Captain Balinda Stonehearth have had their health totals reduced to match the health totals of Drek’thar and Captain Galvangar.
  • Warmasters/marshals in Alterac Valley now increase each other’s maximum health and damage by 25%. This is a stacking effect.
  • Horde players will now start the battle closer to Drek’Thar and Frostwolf Keep.
  • There is now a Join as Party option.

Key points to notice there is that they introduced the “aura” buff from warmasters/marshals, that increased the health and dmg of all other warmasters/marshals AND of Drek’thar and Vanndar, by 25% for each one.

This was to slow down the meta in AV, and force players to go for towers/bunkers instead of cheesing it with base rushing.

So of course the different range to the first Bunker vs. the first Tower became a BIG PROBLEM. Not because of silly reasons like so many of the “boohoo the AV map is Horde favored” keeps blaming, but simply because RESOURCES MATTERED A LOT.

The AV in Classic, while it’s the watered down version from the end of Vanilla, is still not the one with resources in it. The distance to the first bunker vs. the first tower doesn’t matter as much as it did in the burning crusade’s version of AV.

They also removed elites from basically everywhere except the captains, bases and cave guards, in Patch 2.3.0, which made NPCs inconsequential. The bows didn’t hurt, and there was no elite to “guard” a flag inside a bunker/tower.

I was very disapointed about AV situation.
Get back to game after half year pause and understood that I need the AV rep for healer and dps spec.
Q is an hour+ at prime time.
How long would it take to get rep and why have you done that?
Or some ppl are better then other because the obtained rep and items before thing went wrong?
