no, i think ur misunderstanding something here. This isn’t a QoL change. This is normalising the mega servers. Noone loses. Small servers don’t change because, in your own words, “the economy is healthy”, and the big servers just become the same as that but on a larger scale.
This has been proven to be the best method, as shown in multiple pservers when dealing with mega servers. It works the best by far and it nees to be implemented.
Let me get this clear. You’re asking for Blizzard to:
a) increase node spawns or their repop time;
b) eliminate world buff CD timers.
That’s QoL. Have you played retail? I did in MoP. It was a really disturbing experience because, as a herbalist, I couldn’t even fart before another herb spawned in front of me.
Think of the big picture. Do you need these herbs, ores, whatever to respawn faster? Are you going to wipe in MC because you don’t have world buffs? In BWL? In vanilla, we used all the buffs available of course (scarcely world buffs) but in classic where you’re already buffed thanks to talent tree changes, itemisation changes and boss nerfs, the only bosses I can think of, where you absolutely need to minmax, are maybe C’Thun, Ouro (debatable), Sapphiron, KT.

The introduction of Dire Maul and farming thereof by players and bots has destroyed the economy.
I had warned you, Blizzard, that this would happen here:
As always, the cluless Blizzdrones used to laugh at me and say that I was “wrong in all my predictions” and also say that “nothing would happen” because “Blizzard knows better”.
The same Blizzdrones were telling all of us to sod off and shut up back when Blizzard released two (2) servers for Classic WoW intending to fit therein the EU, Middle East, Near East, Russian Federation, North Africa and Gulf States.
For a list of the arguments of the Blizzdrones prior to the release of WoW Classic, including the Wall Of NO, see thread below:
To OP defense I’m not trusting Blizzard free transfers. Sometimes they stop mid guild transfer or last time when they enabled faction specific transfers some time after transfers become available.
And I’m on Nethergarde Keep - they did keep layers here till the end while also this realm was available as transfer destination. I’m kind of suspecting they expected way more people to leave by now or they still think they will and keep the populations high. And some of the “full” PvP realms could actually have megaserver population levels right now.
If a guild moves - easier access to world bosses, stress-free world buffs carrying to raids, better position with PvP ranking, way less lag, never any queue, low prices. But even so “low” population isn’t that low so you would not end up in a ghost town.
Ok, i don’t think you read my post. I’m not sure what ur saying tbh, you are talking about retail, talents and stuff. I’m talking about normalising herb spawns for massive servers and removing Ony/WCB cd because it’s more fun.
I mean, it’s pretty straight forward right. Lets break it down into simple arrhythmic: Lets say a server has 2 herb spawns, and there are 2 people on that server. That means each person can get 1 herb each. But now lets say you have a server that had 10 people on it instead, but there are still only 2 herbs. That means that 8 / 10 people will not be able to get herbs.
Now if there was dynamic respawn+nodes correctly tuned to the server pop, that big server of 10 people will be the same as the small server of 2 people.
The servers are therefore normalised. Right now Blizzard has some servers that are massive, and some servers that are small. The small servers don’t see the problem and don’t give a damn because in their eyes everything is normal. The big servers do feel it though, hence the need to add these changes. It is MORE BLIZZLIKE to add a correct dynamic respawn, than it is to not have it.
OP isn’t hanging on because of free transfers not beeing ‘trustworthy’. OP represents the establishment of a pirate server type occupation of some PvP servers.
That Blizzard re-created Vanilla isn’t enough for them, they want everything fully piratelike because that is how they played for a decade. They don’t give a toss about the game, they only like its decor for their large scale PvP battles.
More people likely would have left if they weren’t given the change to take a few servers hostage by refusing to migrate.
Merging servers seems to represent some major difficulties for Blizzard. If you look at what they put themselves through to avoid making too many servers (with the risk of ending up dead).
I wonder if they are actually worse off because of layering or if there still is an advantage for them.
But anyway, giving in to these demands would certainly make these people never leave again.
Personally i’d just chop off half of the databases and plonk it on a fresh servers after a week or two warning period and be done with it. But that is likely easier said than done.
But on the other hand , Blizzard might even decide to leave em as they are. With or without giving into the demands.
I really have to reply to this.
Trust me I get the idea. And the thoughts.
But yet again server ain’t supposed to hold that many players, it ain’t designed for it.
It either lag or miss nodes/herbs/mons and w/e
I do totally understand the frustrations.
But blizzard already stated multiply times. We suggest you transfer, but instead ppl cries bout such silly things, where the solution are in front of your all.
Funny is truly don’t think blizzard made (be aware randoms numbers now)
20 servers to hold 5k active each.
Then we have 5 with 20k and few with 5 and rest is low.
Therefore they are trying to make you transfer! It is stupid and even selfish to debate what they have to change.
And I know tons of ppl irl who are going for +5 personal logs. On full Que servers.
They have absolutely no problem getting their stuff. And that’s everything they need for this.
Transfer already. If you got a problem on your server. Simple as that (all my friends ya, make them transfer too - do something human, instead of following the rest of the humanity waiting for someone to force u)
I used to play on Nostalrious (pve), kronos 2/3, elyseum, northdale.
The release was smooth, the experience was great & fun. The difficulty was there and GMs were reactive and usually nice.
I know nothing with layers, programs, and so on. The only thing i know , i pay 13€ per month for an experience of game which is worst than pservers.
On pservers there were issues but it was free.
On classic there are issues ( multiple bugs, lags, bugs abuses, queues and so on ) but we PAY.
I used to play vanilla with this toon, so i can compare classic vs vanilla too. I 'm just very disappointed, because i really waited classic…
The worst mistake of blizzard is not to have enough servers at the release for uk,Germany, France now the situation is terrible
The initial mistake is layering because blizzard wanted to spare money with the numbers of servers.
They should have release enough servers WITHOUT layers like in vanilla… ( And even in vanilla they kept opening server until summer 2006 , i started again from scratch on one of them)
The initial lack of servers is not about money, I think Blizzard genuinely did not realise how popular this was going to be and they wanted layering just for the initial launch week or so.
