Just started to the game

Hi ! I recently started to play wow for the first time. But I didnt know wow and wow classic were different games. when I started to wow I was surprised that I was leveling up so fast. I played like 3 days and became level 30. with some search through the internet I realized that I wanted to play wow classic. but I have a few questions, if you guys can answer them that would be great. first of all, which server should I play on. I want to play on pvp type servers but I don’t know which one would be better, playing on a crowded server or playing on a less crowded ones. because I’ve learned that you dont have dungeon finders in this version of the game (I think that makes more sense) that means I have to find people to play with. So which server would be a good pick to start playing. ( If you re interested to help I can ask you a few more questions :P) thanks

the more people the bettere it is. u gonna find competition on quests and more open world pvp but there gonna be more stuff on the auction house, prices will be affordable and more opportunities to find guild or people to do dungeons and raids. Desert realms are never good.

You can go for Dragonfang PVP server. 1000’s of people recentry rolled on it starting fresh, so that you wont experience hard time finding the group.

thanks for the respond. If thats ok to you I want to ask you more questions that I couldnt find answers of them. I am gonna start playing with a friend and he knows mmo games better than me ( this is my first mmo game). And he wants to know if the monsters that we slay to get xp ( like wolves ), levep up like we do in vanilla as well. because he thinks that doesnt makes sense(I have no clue if that makes sense or not). In wow wolves become the same level with us everytime. so is it same in the vanilla or not? and I have a question. I am 22 years old and I couldn’t played wow in its golden era. But now, I have a chance to start and I am so excited. I wonder does it makes sense to start it now or are we kinda late. I want to know you opinion about this.

@Porzingis: Welcome to the game both you and your friend!

Scaling is a property of the retail side, in Classic monster levels are far more static, so you can and will outlevel certain ones as time goes by and they turn gray, granting no experience for killing them. In similar fashion picking up too low level herbs does not increase herbalism or skinning too weak monsters no longer increases skinning skill and so on.

If you are having fun, then you are never too late.

ahahah I guess you re right  . btw do we need to create our characters in the same race to do our quests and other stuff together. or would picking the same side be enough to start playing in the same area.

@Porzingis: It depends on your exact race picks, in Classic orcs and trolls share the start area, as do gnomes and dwarves.

I recommend you to consider a PvE server. They usually have healthier (more active) levelling scene. Some PvP servers are large, but everyone’s 60 or boosting alts and not many would interact with you.

Or try Dragonfang PvP indeed, must be a really wholesome F R E S H experience.

Im on Dragonfang, and its awesome

are there any differences between Dragonfang and vanilla wow. because I want to have vanilla wow experience. what I mean is in other games when you join a some kind of private server some times they contain mods or other stuff ( since I dont know much about wow I dont even know if it is possible though) btw starting in a fresh server idea sounds fun.

@Porzingis: Dragonfang is completely standard Classic PvP realm. The only “special” thing about is the number of people who fairly recently started there from level 1. The realm is not new in the literal sense, but most of the current actives on it have not been there very long as of yet.

I found one Dragonfang on the list of realms. so if I just click on it would it be enough to join. I am asking this because I read sth like ‘join to discord to get invited’ or sth

@Porzingis: The reroll project does have its’ own Discord, but not being a member does not prevent one from rolling characters there. I think that is the simplest way I can put it.

You’re in for a heck of a ride. I wish I could go back to being completely new and having no idea what to expect from the game, not knowing the mechanics, where to go, or what to do. I’d give anything to get that ‘brand new experience’ back, so I envy you.

Here’s some tips, which you can either take on board, or ignore as you choose:

On a PvP server you’re going to get ganked (killed outright by another player) a LOT. And it’s never fair. Be prepared to be killing quest mobs and suddenly being stunned by a stealthed Rogue and unable to fight back.

Be prepared to be constantly one-shotted by enemy players of a far higher level, and for it to happen multiple times. You may be corpse camped (a player deliberately lingering near your corpse, and killing you every time you ressurect, sometimes for hours at a time until you log out). PvP realms are NEVER about fair play. So you’ll need to put up with a lot of frustration, and even outright griefing.

If you find that a specific player is targetting you a lot, ask in General chat for help. Often others will come to your aid, and you’ll be avenged against that player. Sometimes this can even start PvP battles, which is cool.

Join a guild. But be selective about which guild you join. Never join the first guild you encounter, and beware blind invites. An invitation from a stranger you’ve never spoken to to join his guild rarely ends well, as you’re just been targeted to make up the numbers. Talk to people, find out what kind of guild they are.

My advice would be to join a friendly, social levelling guild who also enjoy running dungeons together. They can also help you if you get targetted by enemy players.

DO NOT RUSH! Take your time. Explore the world.
It isn’t a race. There are no rewards for levelling super quickly, despite what others say. You’ll hear a lot of people saying things like ‘The game starts at L60’, ignore them. If you rush on your first-ever character you’ll sorely regret it. That first character when everything is new and fresh is an experience you can never repeat.

Be careful of guides. Use them if need be, but be aware that they want you to level in the most efficient, streamlined manner possible, which might be fine for your second or third character, but on your first, the journey is important, and you want to make it your own personal journey. Learning by your own mistakes is far better than to mechanically follow a walkthrogh.

You’ll get people telling you to use addons like Questie to ‘streamline, and make easier your levelling’. Personally I would not. It’s better to use your own brain, your own problem-solving skills - far more rewarding and you’ll learn a lot from the experience. Use Questie (if you must) on your next character, or characters.

In dungeons, remember the ‘holy trinity’. Tanks (Warriors, Druid bears, Paladins) pull the enemies toward the rest of the group and keep them occupied. DPS (damage-per-second) classes such as Hunters, Rogues, Mages, Druid Cats, Fury Warriors etc. attack what the tank is attacking. Healers (Priests, Restoration Druids, Holy Paladins, Restoration Shamans etc.) heal players who take damage. Never pull a mob that the tank doesn’t want to fight, always let the tank lead the way, and fight only what they fight.

Remember loot rules in dungeons. Every time loot drops in a dungeon, you get a chance to roll a dice for it, and the options presented to you on screen are need, greed, or pass. Never roll Need on an item you do not want, or cannot use. If you roll Greed you are saying ‘I’ll take this if I get it, but I don’t need it’.

So let’s say you play a Warrior and you’re in a group with a Mage, and a cloth robe drops that’s designed for Mages. If you ‘need’ that item and win it you’ll be called a ‘ninja’, and people may get annoyed at you. Always pass on the loot in this situation, unless the Mage says he doesn’t need it, or rolls ‘greed’ himself, in which case it’s OK for you to roll ‘greed’ too.

It sounds a bit complicated, but it will make more sense to you when you’re in a group and you see it for yourself.

Hope some of this helps.

Hi ! thank you for your respond. It really helped a lot. Can you give me advise about sellecting our realm. because we re really confused. we picked the Dragonfang realm but its kinda empty. people above suggested to play on it because its brand new. on the other hand realms like Firemaw feels more alive. People said it would makes sense since its new and that makes it easier to meet with people (since there is no dungeon finder in classic we wont be able to do them or other things without other people). to sum up, we re kinda lost in this subject. Personally I want to play on the new server but my friend says that its empty as hell and he is right. If you could guide us on this I would be greatful.

Your friend would be correct while ago, as the server was about as empty as it can get. But currently Dragonfang is the most active server as far as leveling goes

woah! didnt know that. But why dont we see anybody around. like stormwind city is nearly empty and we saw 4 or 5 people in goldshire. Is it a server that is still growing and will become more crowded through the time? what I mean is, we really want to keep playing this game, we loved it but the community is also really important and we want to make this decision as quickly as possible. would it make more sense to play in this realm (Dragonfang) rather than playing in other crowded ones ? what are the pros and cons ?

Pyrewood village alliance if you want server with less bots and lots of low lvl activity.
Pve server tho so if you want to get ganked, it’s a no-go.

Pros are that you find people to help you with quests and to do dungeons with, and pretty much everyone in the server are still leveling, there is little to no reason to be in Stormwind or any other hub city for that matter.

If you want to level with lot of people its probably gonna be Dragonfang if you like to be on a pvp server. If pvp not your thing then I am sure pve servers more than happy to have you

There is no official data for realm populations but this site can be used as a rough guideline
