locked farming jed, no reed… ty bliz
@Kaivax
So lets put this change into perspective… what blizzard has done to solve the bot problem with this instance lock would equal to someone dropping a bomb on a village, killing everyone and destroying everything in it, in order to get rid of the few criminals in it.
‘the bomb’ representing this change.
‘everyone’ representing the legit playerbase.
‘everything’ representing the game.
‘the few criminals’ representing the bots.

They better fix this if they don’t want to lose more players than they have already lost with the locked servers.
Blizzard, please revert this change. It’s stopping me play the game how i want to play it and having a serious impact on my enjoyment.
I have a week off work right now so i have a lot more spare time. I did ZG boosts on my mage for 4 hours yesterday evening, but that means that now, this morning, i have 10 instances left? I can’t remember if i did exactly 20 instances last night, so i’m having to guess. I also have a raid later today, so if i want to boost some more ZG, i can only do maybe 8 runs? Even then i might have got that wrong.
This change is so bad for the game and hurts legitimate players like myself. Please revert this change and arrive at a solution that doesn’t impact the people trying to enjoy the game normally.
First of all the mechanic should reset at a fixed time at night. This would make it sooo much easier to track so we dont need to get addon to track yet another thing.
Secoundly separate instances and raids. Atm you are risking not being able to raid because you got locked going 1 extra instance on an alt, thats just stupid.
Thirds this is this a crisis for feral druids. Feral druids need pummelers. That means that you will have to use aprox 10 resets a day in gnome.
Wanna help a mate farm SGC or do a few boost runs? Well that depends if you are planing to run instances on an alt later that day or even tomorrow. Sry my warriors i rly cant afford to give you my saves as its now a very limited quantity.
Planing to enjoy a night of farming or getting an alt boosted?. Not if its a raid night the next day as you quickly can mess up the lock for your main raid 20 hours later.
Clearly this mechanic is poor and should be changed, if anything i ask that its changed to reset by night so its easier to track. That would be a start.
Remove the instance limit.

I’m sure they have the systems in place, or the knowledge, to separate the 40 man raids from this (MC, BWL, AQ in future).
Maybe ZG, AQ20, UBRS should still fall into the ‘30 instances’ cap?
I personally feel the whole change should be reverted though. I pay a monthly fee to enjoy whatever content I want, at the pace I want - much like many others… I don’t pay monthly to be time gated like lives on Candy Crush.
They have removed 74k bots from the game, so they have proved it’s possible. This instance cap is now redundant, imo.
At the very least, they should offer another incentive for Authenticators by which you could ‘opt out’ of the cap by agreeing to randomly be subject to entering an authenticator code, or completing a CAPTCHA test, when entering an instance at any point.
This would separate the bots from the humans, surely? Complete the request, access allowed.
Revert this change already.
It is a proto-version of dailies, which is why it’s alien to Classic (in addition to being alien to Classic in the first place). Blizzard’s message? “Do not play according to your own schedule, log on every day!”
Both the historical vanilla raid resets, and the historical 5/hour instance limit leave room for individual scheduling. Even ZG.
Because the lockout is so harsh, it has an additional effect on humans. We will leave a margin for error. Bots of course have no such consideration.
Completely agree.
Understand the sentiment, but many people (outside of COVID) work careers. I personally work 10 hours per day Mon-Fri, 1 in 4 Saturday AMs and have various other life commitments. Sometimes, in my spare hours over a ‘free’ weekend, I like to cram my gaming fix in. Much like many others, all in the same position.
I’m not sure Blizzard/Activision have taken real life people / events into any form of consideration here.
It’s an MMORPG. It’s made to be binged repeatedly. Artificially limitting the binge-potential has me cringing. How out of touch are Activision, really?..
We are in full agreement. I was unclear, I intended that to describe Blizzard’s position. I’ll edit.
(Incidentally, the daily grind was what finally turned me away from retail for good, some ten years back or something.)

The garden in MOP was what broke me. That and the PVE content just not really being enjoyable anymore. Actually, the Klaxxi council and the garden was what broke it for me.

100%. Imagine if this was a common thing across all MMORPGs?
Jagex: “What ya doing mate?”
RS Player: “Going for 200m Construction”
Jagex: “Oof, what if I told you that you could only build 35 Oak Tables per 24 hour period?”
RS Player: “I’d die a little inside…”
Jagex: “I’ll see you on the other side” administers change…
