Pet Peeve: The Undying

If you think I’m “crass and dismissive” and “unpleasant” you don’t want wanna meet me when I am really like that.

Most people already made the point I was trying to make, but here I go.

Idk i think a major phobia like that is common enough to make it worth considering. I loved the idea of an underwater zone myself, but if it makes it unplayable for a decent proportion of people, I don’t really think it’s worth it.

That goes for some other things too, of course, like people with arachnophobia struggling with spiders in the game. Something like that, I feel, could be helped by a toggle option that switches spiders to something else, but that wouldn’t really work with an underwater zone.

If you google common phobias, you’ll see that we should have the option to change half or more of the game for the sake of people having “one of the more common phobias”

If you have a legit phobia like that, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is that way :arrow_right:

Sorry but this is sounding more like “I have a phobia, please change it so my phobia isn’t activated, or add options to not add it” but that would mean Blizzard would basicly have to build two games side-by-side or more because of all the common phobias.

kinda were. the keyword being “also”. As if the hella anxiousness is what people with real phobias “also” experience.

No I don’t think I will

okay so you at least admit that you’re just trying to do a morality schtick and not actually saying anything of value.

Really? What makes telling from showing different in the context of people disliking it?
If someone doesn’t like somebody else playing a powerful character, they’re going to dislike it regardless of showing it or telling about it.
They’ll dislike it if the character’s impression is mighty and powerful.
They’ll dislike it if the character’s TRP says “Powerful character!”.
There is no way to make them like it.

Possible, but even if they DIDN’T put that into their TRP , they can still power emote their way out of a fight.

Often the case, yes. But not always wrong. If they are a DK then they’re often more powerful than other non-heroic characters, In my opinion at least.
If someone then decided “Yeah this DK is trying to be mighty and powerful I don’t like it” they are doing the same thing, wanting to nerf that DK.
Using DK as example since they tend to be powerful in lore.

True, but I don’t start off thinking “Oh they’re going to be OP and uninteresting”, because that’s often the case with people who write that sort of thing (in my experience). If you’re powerful, show me in a compelling way, don’t just say it OOC.
This is my peeve and my stance!

Fair enough. How would you do that in a compelling way?
I’m interested in powerful characters myself (within reason).
Hey, someone make a “How to play a powerful character without nerfing yourself for the sake of others” thread.

Introduce the power gradually to other players. Don’t flaunt it at every opportunity.

When in events allow weaker character puzzle around before you ‘solve’ the problem at hand.

Ultimately, it can be that being around a powerful character, no matter how lore abiding they are can get boring because they just solve all issues with a flick of their wrists.

Same goes for rich character who just give poor characters stuff really easily. Doing that takes away from their own character.

I find power more compelling when I understand its source, what effort it takes, it’s toll and other details. I don’t need it in one clump, but over time.
Jaina appearing on a flying boat, was not compelling…

I’m constantly ill lately, exhausted by minor things. I’m guessing a hotter summer will render me wholly immobile.

Also, my flight path trajectory crashed me into Thrym’s massive groin.

I don’t get this weird stereotype from quite a number of Nelf and Tauren Rpers who think that they don’t need gold, and tosses it away like they’re candies upon every purchased goods then say “My people don’t have much need for gold.”

What I’m saying is… They have lots of gold despite not seeing the value in it… Still somehow has lots. I could understand if they were bartering… But c’mon in current time IC every playable race is part of a global economy so having gold is kinda important.

Not throwing stones at anyone in particular, just a stereotype that irks me.

Tbh for me Tauren if they’re typical Tauren (the nomadic type as opposed to the city domesticated type) shouldn’t really have much in the way of money anyway. I’ve always imagined them as the type to trade goods for goods as opposed to for currency.

I’ll give you this pile of furs for that string of chicken.

Could just be me though, maybe since being introduced to the Horde they’ve had to rely more on common currency. This is entirely my headcanon btw.

Ofc ofc. I don’t mean to say everyone has need for gold. Bartering, exchanging goods for services or similar concept are perfectly fine in my eyes. I would very much enjoy a Tauren saying that as a traveler they prefer these methods above.

However a Craftsmen telling me they don’t have much value for gold as they live in Orgrimmar or a major settlement is ridiculous.

Actual draenei canon but they have to adjust because they live among people who do value such things.

Though the aquisition of material wealth is no longer a driving force in our lives, we understand that money makes the world go 'round.

Levey you’re BACK!

I was never gone. I just don’t do as much frantic 4am posting.

Oh well… Fair enough friend.

Why has a thread made by a known troll gotten over a thousand posts?

I know some people really like patting each other’s backs after sticking it to the ERPers but really, nothing being said to Lilynore is new or is going to change anything. All they’re doing is giving attention to someone who thrives off of it.

Just the moebius loop of AD forum history repeating itself.

Well, it’s still nice being missed?

Of course.

I unfortunately have that with a few things, but imho it doesn’t have to be that bad to still take it into consideration? If some things make quite a few people feel very uncomfortable, it seems wise to keep that in mind and make sure there are alternatives if you do, like Blizzard did with Vashj’ir and Hyjal.

I would love another underwater zone btw (tho I could do without the whales, brrrr), but only if it’s optional content.
