I guess the server populations vary so much that many of us have a slightly different experience so far, although everyone and every server still seems under populated.
The Earthshaker / Mograine etc Realmpool was the most active with around 49 yesterday, as sad as it sounds. The most “action” one would get is to sit around a bonfire with people from the other realms.
I went ahead (and so did a friend of mine) and checked the other PvP realm pools and lets just say it wasn’t looking great.
Saying that cross-realm activity will be the end of Classic Era servers is a VERY bold statement; for once, this isn’t retail. People actually care about their reputation (for the most part) and there will always be those individuals that will sperg out in the Battleground chat or in World Chat, that’s just a given.
Second, as mentioned, the servers wouldn’t only have cross-realm activity but also be merged, meaning people would be seeing the others as regulars now, not only someone you’d meet in a Battleground (even though I have met a lot of people several times a day in Battlegrounds and it was for the most part a pleasant experience).
I do play both horde and alliance, and I can tell you that it isn’t look bright on either side.
It’s nice to see that people are willing to take the initiative to farm a “Fresh” on a dead server or try to pug a Zul’Gurub, but it sounds more like a pain in the a** rather than something you’d be willing to form and lead within a matter of maybe half an hour. I doubt anyone of us wants to sit and spam for 1-2 hours straight that they are trying to form a 20 man raid. Now scale this up to a 40 man raid and you might as well just try and stop the effort completely.
It may be the case that one realm pool has been a bit luckier than others with people trying to take the initiative of leading a GDKP or a standard soft reserve raid, but again, this will not be the case on every realm pool, and that is just a fact.
This is classic vanilla World of Warcraft after all, where the community aspect is the core aspect of the game, not some silly mount or transmog grinds like on retail, where you don’t care about how you get into raids or with who.
Just my two cents, though I have the feeling that 9/10 people strongly agree with me.
For all the RP enjoyers, I don’t understand how your servers would get overpopulated at ANY point. Every server so far is pretty much a ghost town. Add the 20-40 active players per realm together and you still will only have a handful of players, barely enough to make the server mildly active. This is an mmorpg, not a solo player adventure. If you feel like you want the world for yourself, you might be in that boat all alone.
Cheers for the responses and thanks for being mature and positive about this subject, each and everyone of you.
