Hey everyone,
I wanted to bring up a topic that has been bothering me and many others for quite some time now: the scaling system introduced in Legion. While the idea behind scaling was to create a more balanced and challenging experience, it has unfortunately been a failure in many aspects.
1. Legacy Content Issues: One of the biggest problems with scaling is how it affects legacy content. Before Legion, we could easily solo old raids and dungeons for transmog, mounts, and achievements. However, with the introduction of scaling, this has become increasingly difficult. The recent pre-patch has made even Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands raids harder to solo1. This is frustrating for players who enjoy farming old content.
2. Inconsistent Difficulty: Scaling has also led to inconsistent difficulty levels. There are instances where leveling up or gaining better gear actually makes your character feel weaker2. This is counterintuitive and takes away from the sense of progression that is core to an RPG experience.
3. Lack of Proper Tuning: Blizzard has struggled to properly tune the scaling system. It took them a long time to fix Legion raids, and now we are seeing similar issues with Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands content1. This lack of timely adjustments shows a clear gap in quality assurance and prioritization.
4. Community Feedback Ignored: Despite numerous complaints and feedback from the community, it feels like our concerns are not being addressed. The scaling system continues to be a source of frustration, and the solutions provided are often temporary or inadequate3.
Conclusion: Scaling was introduced with good intentions, but its implementation has been flawed. It’s time for Blizzard to seriously reconsider how scaling is handled and make the necessary changes to improve the overall player experience. We need a system that respects our time and effort, and enhances our enjoyment of the game, not detracts from it.
