Seriously.. why didn´t you just choose PVE server?

Because so many people hyped up the supposed awesomeness of large-scale world PvP. And we thought, ‘OK, maybe I’ve been missing out, let’s give the PvP thing a try this time around’.

So we levelled, put up with some amount of ganking/griefing, maybe found one somewhat fair fight for every 10 stunlock-instagibs from a high-level rogue. By the time PvP really starts to detract from the experience, you’ve got 100hrs+ invested, so you persist with it.

But then the rules changed to reward griefing/ganking. Not everyone was prepared for this. For the sub-60s, the game became outright unplayable, and for those doing dungeons, it was too much hassle to be worthwhile.

Lesson learned. World PvP is mostly utter garbage - just ganking+griefing, and you should never play Alliance on a PvP server (seems clear that the more aggressive players generally go Horde). If paid realm transfers open up, I’ll happily jump to a PvE server. For now, there’s no point logging in.

Not going to reroll at this point though, the excitement of classic has faded, and been significantly tarnished by the recent state of the game.

It’s kinda sad because I love wpvp especially in group battles but when im out mining and such and get ganked by 3 rogues and 2 mages and a priest, it’s not much fun. I’m not in a pvp mood all day everyday

but damn does it feel good when you get ganked while doing something, not paying attention and then YOU WHOOP THEIR 3 letter word for rump which is banned because censorship.

Wpvp is not the issue, overcrowded servers are. When you have around 10000 people on one server with a faction ratio of 70-30 the game becomes unplayable.

Imagine farming herbs/mining as a warrior in the end zones lol…

PvE in Retail is a sad joke. PvE in classic is fun, and that’s what it’s all about. I’m sorry that you do not understand this, but it is the way it is for me. I do not understand why PvP shpuld be fun, but this won’t prevent me fighting for your right to PvP to your hearts content.
I hope you’ll help me and my mates have the most fun from PvE in Classic as well.

so many people saying go pve gather your herb/nodes but what will you do when you see black lotus at same time with horde or ally… if he reach the black lotus first, he will take it and you can do nothing about it  I will get very mad if ally take black lotus front of me

Erm … first come, first served. Better luck for me next time. Peace bro.

But if a Horde does it’s ok? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Need FFA PvP for that.

I didnt roll PVE because I didnt think it would be anywhere near this bad as it wasnt this bad for me when I leveled my original chars, horde and alliance all on pvp servers.

I used to get killed and get camped occasionally if I went to certain areas and I would not mind getting killed and camped occaisionally now but this time around Im getting killed and camped all the time everywhere I go.

Amazing how many did not read the OP

Lower population cap would do nothing. Players are better informed than back in vannila. Everybody know about honor system. Back in vannila people would roll on pvp realm without having clue what it even means and had no urgue to chase ranks most efficient way possible. You would have gank groups all around world no matter of population caps.

You calling for pvp when it suits you little lion. That pretty much summs it up.

BTW with current faction balanace i cant wait to laught on horde queue times when BG will release. I will enyoj my instat bgs on my gnome warrior while hordies will wait 1 hour just to get into 1 bg.

Everyone wants pvp when it suits them.

No one wants to be caught outnumbered with their finger in their corn dispenser. That is life.

You will find no one that disagrees, that isn’t lying about it.

It’s a branding issue. A lot of drama could have been avoided if Blizzard named PvP something like “griefing enabled” servers instead.

PvP isn’t what separates PvP and PvE servers, griefing is. You can PvP just fine on a PvE server. You want “fair”, organized PvP in the form of battlegrounds? You can do that on PvE servers (when they’re released, that is). You want honorable, 1v1 duels? You can do that too, with opposite faction as well, even. You want organized, mass world PvP events were both sides consent to it? Yeah, you can go to Tarren Mill or wherever with your crew and flag yourself for PvP and fight the other side until you get bored of it and leave.

The only thing that separates PvP servers from PvE servers is that on PvP servers you can engage a member of opposite faction in combat without their consent, i.e. grief them. That’s the only real difference.

That being said, I do agree that Blizzard made a mistake by making the player cap in Classic a lot higher than it was in vanilla, and that this has caused and will continue to cause many problems for the health of the game, and I genuinely sympathize with people who are playing the outnumbered faction on a PvP server.

Maybe It’s because I am 16 level vs 60 level?!

Please reread you post, it makes no sense at all. It just seems that you can’t grasp the very fundamentals faults blizzard made with how they implemented Classic.

Why do ppl always see it from the “stolen” perspective? I have snagged a lot of nodes and quest mobs under the nose of entire Alliance groups, and it feels awesome^^ I’d honestly feel extremely annoyed if I were attacked every other time I’m trying to gather something.

I read this a lot but… is this even true, post-layering? I do see a lot of ppl around but, do we have evidence that there are more than 3-3.5k players concurrently online?

yes, i did a census scan yesterday, and got 4.2k players on alliance alone in a bit over an hour, and my server is heavily horde dominated

Easy, even with a certain scepticism to what Blizzard confirmed, one layer contained about 3,5-4k pop or so they said. On todays megaservers there were more than 2 layers at prime time and some even had more than 3.

WPvP in vanilla was something annoying, but did not interfere seriously with what you wanted to do, it never was disrupting. It was small scale. Based on that previous experience, I could have chosen a PvP server.

I chose instead a PvE one because my time is limited and only wanted to do PvE.

This is an evolution of the game (massive disrupting WPvP) that basically happened in pservers, for what I’ve learned in these weeks. You cant blame vanilla players for not knowing that, why should they?

I think in this case Blizzard is catering to the pserver community, and that will harm seriously their income. They should have enabled PvP to PvE transfer some weeks ago for players trapped in PvP servers.
