Cant believe people are still talking about this…did non of you use VanasKOS in vanilla? It was the same s*it. I think I used that all the way till MoP.

its a shame blizzard is allowing this kind of addon on vanilla… please Blizzard remove it before phase 2 or Wow classic is dead
Didn’t install the spy addon, but tripped across part of its features with VanasKOS and its “whos nearby” window.
And yes, I would agree that it’s bad for the game. It trivialises finding out who is nearby and makes classes who can track humanoids lose much of the point of that functionality.
If you think its there for gank protection I suggest that you ask yourself how a ganking victim is able to hide or escape from a ganker when he knows through walls and trees that youre close by.
Its a really terrible crutch of an addon.

yeah i downloaded this addon because i got tired of other people using it, putting me at disadvantage by the very nature of the way the addon works.
now i can literally tell when a rogue is coming from miles away.
i can see every alliance and their numbers for miles around.
definitely not cheating though, right blizzard.
since i downloaded this addon nobody has gotten a jump on me, and i’ve been able to get the jump on everyone else, yes even the rogues.
the second i see “Stealth Detected” i immediately put my shield and 1H on, and they simply go “nah, too much bother” and leave me alone, or die if they try to gank me as i now have way too much armor for them to gank me in a single stunlock.
if there is one class this addon is unfair against its definitely rogues.
and druids to an extent, but mainly rogues.
do you have any idea how useful it is to have this addon running while you’re farming in i.e Tyr’s Hand (EPL)? well, lemme tell ya, me and 2 friends literally secured dominance of the whole area solely due to this addon.
see them pop up on spy - click name (without being able to see them) and target them, find them, kill them.
ez game.
yeah it should be banned… i am not interested in using this addon, i simply do it because i know, if i don’t, others will, and i’ll be at a massive disadvantage.
this is the first addon besides DBM that blizzard has forced me to use.
Wont you only appear on the addon when you do something that the combat log picks up?
So we could all just run arround with our combat logs open?
Its like energy users could just count in their head but they choose to use a addon that does it for them.
I know its an unpopular opinion but the addon just doesn’t bother me. Just because you know im near doesn’t mean im not going to get you.

maybe, but it means i can prepare for your ambush well ahead of time, whereas if i didn’t use this addon you could gank me ezpz while i got my 2H on, and no WF on my one hander, which without the addon would mean i’m pretty much dead unless the rogue screws up badly or i get like 3 stun resists in a row…
WF costs a GCD, i can now use that GCD on something else… oh and i can also heal or bandage well in advance. i can put poison cleansing totem, i can put on my lightning shield… hell i can pop a magma totem + earthbind and drink in safety and be 100% ready, should the rogue choose to try and kill me.
btw the addon detects stealth in 9/10 cases and gives a massive sound cued warning along with a visual that glows in the center of the screen. i’m not even sure the rogue actually has to do anything combat log related for it to detect him, as that would likely take him out of stealth unless its just a sprint.
Basically people moaning because its harder to gank people lol.
I want my enemies to know about their impending doom. Skill > addons.

Yep.
So you can simply pull out your combat log window, set it to only pick up actions performed by and to hostile players, and just tick off every box.
Then you can simply keybind “target nearest enemy player” or make a /targetenemyplayer macro.
This addon simply cleans up and streamlines what you can already do.

Thats not how it works. You cant detect people or actions performed in stealth, all you can detect is that someone just activated stealth, thats it.
