Exaggeration is a common tactic on forum to try and reinforce a point hehe.
As a hunter, I feel like spy is more useful to me than to any other class, precisely because its combined with tracking in my case.
I feel like your approach to this argument is wrong, you’re trying to persuade people that Spy gives a significant advantage - but everyone agrees with that anyway. Should it be banned? I don’t think so, because it doesn’t improve one’s gameplay to a larger degree than other PvP addons.
That being said, if Blizzard does decide to make such addons impossible, I couldn’t care less. But as long as it exists, I intend to use it and I don’t see anything wrong with it.
Nonsense. Spy is not a cheat under the rules of the company that makes the game lol. You are just making stuff up.
I’ve been against this addon from when I first heard of it. Now, that I have installed and tried it myself it dawned on me that I still don’t like how it changes gameplay
Examples
*I literally stood inside a wall and shot people running past on the other side and killing them w/o them knowing how to counter it. Had I not installed spy I would not know anyone was near because I was farming herbs at the time.
*when someone appears on spy, instantaneous target and let pet find the target may it be behind trees or any obstacle
I don’t understand how can this addon be allowed by Blizzard.
To be honest even if it would “only” warn you of an enemy player nearby somewhere, it would still be a cheat!
Read up. It’s explained many times.
You got me at multiboxing, lol.
Nonsense is applied to you.
Brain dead people don’t have common sense and cannot think, since the brain isn’t there.
Poor decisions of game directors should be fixed.
Don’t you know, you’re the only smart person on these forums, everyone else is a zombie, mate. You shouldn’t even bother arguing with us, why don’t you go watch a tower 7 documentary or something?
You think it changes gameplay so much because you don’t realize how you could do similar stuff without the addon.
Tab-targeting + combat log will give you a similar effect.
You don’t even need a pet for that, you can just set a raidmark on your target to see where it is.
Ssssshhhhhh!
Stop that! No logic allowed!
Then do tab targetting smartass SANS the addon.
If tab targetting gives you the same results, why do you even use the addon in the 1st place and why do you object to Blizzard breaking it?
You are too clever by half.
Newsflash, addons exist to make things easier.
Break spy = break many others.
Oh the irony…
I never said the results are the same, I said they are similar. I never objected to Blizzard breaking it, I said it cant be broken without also breaking a ton of other things.
And finally, I use this addon instead of doing it manually for the same reason you use a spoon instead of diving your face into your meal - its more convenient.
Next time you try to argue, please do read the posts you are replying to.
This is the issue, blizzard cannot block the addon without breaking stuff like damage meters, threat meters etc, parsing the combat log is such a basic building block of so many addons
Yup.
Nobody is particularly bothered by the thought of Spy being removed.
But
1: It would affect who-knows-how-many other addons
and
2: It would set a really bad precedent of a couple of numpties whining about something they clearly don’t understand being a reason to remove something. Which has never been a good thing for WoW.
Well, theoretically, I guess blizzard could remove only the lines with enemy actions not involving the player from combat logs. That might work, but it would still break quite a few other pvp addons, I imagine.
But then again, its not like Blizzard is gonna make such a change anyway.
It’s pretty funny how overpowered spy is in P2 for Horde, as an Alliance player is does you no good because there are always 5 Horde players around you, but as a Horde players you can track the few Alliance in PvP zones and hunt them down.
This, blocking or breaking Spy can’t be done without breaking pretty much every mod that runs off of the combat log (threat meters, DPS logs, DBM/BigWigs etc) which would more than likely drive off a vast majority of the WoW population.
At the end of the day Spy, just like the other addons, is a tool that anyone can use and asking for it to be taken away just because you don’t like it is silly.
It’s like wanting to ban electric drills because you only have a screwdriver.
I don’t think that is necessarily true. All that they would need to do is remove events involving players of the opposite faction either completely or just make it impossible for addons to access that data. That would still keep all PvE addons functional.
Now I’m not saying that this needs to be done or even that it should be done.
I thought they wanted classic to be like vanilla.
