The Essence of Eranikus - Item restoration request

TLDR: like the post and comment with “i agree” for letting GM give back an item necessart to complete a chain to players who lose it.

Hi all :slight_smile: I’m an Archiever and i managed to complete almost all quests in the old Azeroth. I killed drakes, banished demons, escorted mechanical chickens, met Grark Lorkrub… but i cannot complete this quest, i have no way to do it.
The quest i’m talking about is “The essence of Eranikus”(quest=3374/the-essence-of-eranikus),
for it’s completition i need the item “Chained Essence of Eranikus”, given to me by a previous quest (quest=3373/the-essence-of-eranikus).
I’ve sold/disenchanted the item, so i asked for having it back, paying back the money/materials or just to have the rollback of the chain, but the GMs cannot do this kind of stuff apparently.
I’ve opened a ticket about this problem and the only way to obtain back the item needed to complete the quest seems to be heard here on the forum (as the GM said to me)

Please also keep in mind quest it self is just bread crump quest to lead you to wintergrasp you dont get any reward for completing the quest as you can see here (link that i had to remove)/quest=3374/the-essence-of-eranikus

I do understand that this is something that you feel very strongly about, so the best thing you can do is voice your opinion on our forums eu.forums.blizzard. com/en/wow/c/wow-classic/249 If enough players that share the same opinion have their voices heard, that’s the best way to get things changed!

So here I am, writing down this post so whoever has my same problem or thinks that this questline should be “fixed” can just share his thoughts or just write down an “up” every so often, if we have a good partecipation maybe there is a chance to change :slight_smile:

F.A.Q.
Why did you destroy the item? It’s all your fault!
I didn’t know that the item was used later for a quest. Yes, it’s my fault, but i think the way is handled this quest is wrong. Also is almost an unique case: there are other quests like this, but you can aquire again the quest items talking to NPCs or abandoning/retaking quests.

Why this quest is so important? Just go on with your life!
As i said, i’m an Archiever. I feel satisfied when i get all the items, complete all the quests, get all the mounts… I know, i got a problem, but it’s just like that, and i cannot do anything to fix it :slight_smile:. Also i feel incomplete knowing that i miss just that one quest, and my main PG will not be able to complete it… NEVER!

As the GM said to you, it’s a meaningless quest, with no rewards! Just leave it!
It’s not about missing a BIS, i don’t care about that stuff. It’s not about having the trinket, or about the exp/money. It’s all about the completism i want to archieve.

YES. I’ve tried everything you can imagine, the only way (as the GM said) is to be heared here and hope for the best. (item restoration, abandoning the quest, googling for other solutions didn’t worked).

The quest was never completed on Blizzard’s end anyway - you hand the trinket in to a dude in Winterspring like “ooh, this will continue a chain,” and then it doesn’t. The guy’s got your trinket, he’s happy, he shuts up and continues standing silently in his little ramshackle shed.

Oldschool Blizzard/GMs would have just given you the item back in exchange for the vendor price. Alas, that’s not to be now… This is one time where your quest-related OCD will have to just accept it and move on :frowning:

I know it’s a unfinished quest chain, but my OCD cannot really stand back :stuck_out_tongue: I have a chance to solve the problem, so why not try?
I also know that with Oldschool Blizzard/GMs was already resolved… but we have to work with what we have now :slight_smile:

I waited 4d for the first reply to my ticket, the second one was after another 4 days. I understand why they write in a rush, they got a lot of request and have to dispose of them in a very short time. At least he gave me a brink of solution :slight_smile:

And if it occurs again? i’m enjoying the exploration and the quests, if i have to google for each quest if the item is necessary i will waste Blizzard’s effort to make a great narrative and lose the beauty in the discovery. And also, this is my main PG, i want him to get all quest done!

Well then just level new a character, start over with collecting and don’t make the same mistake twice. If you really want it as much as you say you do, it should be no problem.

You know you can’t, do you? Some Quests are mutually exclusive. :frowning: Much to my chagrin. I’m a completist as well.

I’m down with selecting a path for a quest, it’s ok to make decision. it’s not ok being stuck because i sold a “worthless” item, this thing can be easly fixed. Also as i said is the unique case in all WoW where i cannot obtain again an item for a quest if i lose/destroy/disenchant it.

It’s ABSURD if Blizzard refuse to restore unobtainable quest items. Even private servers did that.

Then start over again ;p , I do think you should get your breadcrumb quest, clearly it’s not an exploit to get something unearned as it’s only worth a few silver, and in-game it’s always possible you accidentally destroy/vendor or disenchant it. As long as it’s not mutually exclusive with another quest or something, we don’t have to create a problem where there is none.

GIVE THIS MAN HIS CRAPPY GREEN ITEM!

That said if you’re gonna bring up the BS reasoning that you NEED something because you feel ‘incomplete’ otherwise, then I’m going to give you the BS reasoning back you can start over again with a new main character, if it’s really as important as you claim it to be.

I really cannot stand this dumb decision, it’s just a useless trinket, let the players have it :frowning:
It’s not unfair, it’s not a BIS, it doesn’t break the game or anything else… it only breaks my heart.

I had read it. But to me, your fetish of wanting to complete everything doesn’t justify asking GMs to babysit you. If you are so focused on quests, you could’ve researched that there’s a next step in this chain.
Literally anything would be a better way for GMs to spend their time doing something productive than helping you get that item back. And I don’t mean to insult your playstyle, I’m just saying you’re probably not going to get it, and neither should you.

People have asked for it back and been refused, but have they ever asked why they are being refused? I see no harm in it.
