We need dual spec

and yours isn’t?
why even bother advocating/fighting against changes then? we should all write threads about our cringy nerd experience in tbc we don’t remember the slightest.

I don’t need dual spec to feel good about the game. The only reason why I would enjoy it, is that I don’t have so sort out my spells and other stuff like that after changing my spec. I can do that with a add on, however.

I would rather not see it implemented tho, since there wasn’t something like that in TBC. In addition to that, it is at least somewhat of a gold sink.

There is nothing arbitrary at all. At the end of the game the Blizzard’s dev team decides what is good or bad because this is their game.
We as players can provide them arguments about why some changes are bad and while some aren’t.

Arguments about bad changes:

  • Level boost is bad because it will create a swarm of bots, make the economy worse and bring clueless plebs that don’t even know how to start attacking at high level dungeons etc.
  • Dual talent is bad because it is a good gold sink in an inflated economy and it also provides an incentive to pick your talents carefully, creating a certain difference between careless and bad players and those who are more careful with their choices.
  • LFG is bad because it removes a lot of social interactions and makes finding group a lot easier without even spending any effort.

What are the arguments of those asking for these?

  • 99% if not 100% of arguments I’ve seen on these is that “it makes the game easier” or “accessible”.
Why is this a terrible argument?
Because good games aren’t easy. Easy games might seem fun for a week or two but get old very quickly. My 65 year old mother who never played a single video game in her life started playing candy crush on facebook. After 2 weeks she got bored and bought some sort of a package of maps which were designed harder. On candy crush, on facebook.
Every game that caters to instant gratification becomes dull and meaningless, this is proved hundreds of times in the history of video games and the hardcore community leaves the game, its only noobs that keep playing the game for a few months then they all migrate after the hardcore crowd. I’ve experienced this many, many times only in the games I’ve played.

Arguments about good changes:

  • Drums: LW is way too good for pve and creates a situation where almost all raiding guilds will have an entire raid of LWs. A profession shouldn’t be a requirement for raiding.
  • Alliance racials in PvE: The horde will be extremely populated on most realms and creating even worse server balance issues, leading to extinction of one faction on some servers and ridicilously long BG ques for the horde.
  • Seal of blood: One faction of a class shouldn’t have an ability so much better than the other. It is being changed already so this is a good change.

thats it??? neither was sob for alliance paladins but thats a good change (not implying dual spec would be a good change) if this is the sole argument against it then sorry but its a very weak one

Yes please.

As much as I’d love dual spec, it just doesn’t belong in Classic/TBC.
The problem with #changes is stuff like this :man_shrugging:
“This was added/changed, so why not X”

well…as i said before…i dont care if it is or not in the game (it isnt anyways and we didnt get any hint that they would want it ) but this ‘‘slippery slope’’ argument is just based on paranoia and empty assumptions…if we take a closer look to what changes they bring into tbc most if not all are good changes that will prob aid the game and the community

Going into classic I was all for the #NoChanges since seeing what retail has become I dident trust them to make the right changes (from my perspective that is) so Id rather have some problems than takeing the risk of them messing it up even worse.

After Blizzconline I gotta say im much more open to the #SomeChanges as someone said above making Paladins equals reguardless of what faction you play and getting max uptime on drums with 5 LWs in a raid instead of 20 sounds all good to me.

To the topic of dual spec, id personaly arent sure I want dual spec per se but a 50g fee x2 for each raidday to be able to both play raids and arena to my class full protential (even worse for others raiding as say tank for ex).
Id like one of the following versions:

  • A second spec that activates in arena and BG and keeping the 50g for changeing both that one or our normal talents.
  • Remove the cost of respecs but still having to go to our trainer, becouse lets face it for some people it is a gold sink and hurts real bad but for those who would realy need to have a gold sink in the game making a ton from GDKP the extra 50g aint nothing anyway.

… or even better: copy-paste the version from Wrath, including the 1k upfront pay to unlock it. It could require lvl 60, 65, 70, whatever.

I think it would be a good idea. It would potentially make playing tanks and healers more fun if you need to farm something or quest.

You still had to visit a capital or inn to swap in Wrath right?

Just dont want to see a version where you can change on the fly in raids, takes alot away from the raid if one can swap freely between bosses imo.

but this ‘‘slippery slope’’ argument is just based on paranoia and empty assumptions…

if i had a nickle every time someone said this and were just plain wrong… honestly, you people will never learn.

Please just make Dual Spec as it was in WOTLK. That would be huge game changer and basically play or not play PVP as PVE player.

I read through posts here and some makes no sense.

Gold sink excuse me? And what is exactly a dual spec if not HUGE gold sink? Right now on classic i respected 3 times and i wont do it ever again. Not because i cant, i just don’t want to. I playing as tank and just raid log, that’s it. With Dual spec instead of paying just around 50g for these 3x respeces in character life time, i would buy dual spec for 1-2k gold.

After all its not about gold. It’s about changing everything every time u want to do something else than tanking. So instead of just pressing one button and wait 20 sec cast time in non combat state to start arenas - i have to roam to class trainer, distribute all my points again, change over my skill bars and so on. And than guess what? IF i want to do heroic dung or raid again - i have to do it all over again. Its just stupid bad atm.

Raid leader: “Alright guys, i want all tanks to change spec to DPS right now… come on, click the button!”
FLASHZOOOMmmm
Raid leader: “Good, now i want all priests who are currently disc or holy to spec shadow, because this boss is very vulnerable to shadow dmg, so go ahead and do that now pls”
FLASHZOOOMmmm
Raid leader: “…aaaaand druids and shamans who are not healing spec, please switch to resto right now?”
FLASHZOOOMmmm
Raid leader: “Alright good guys, now that everyone is ‘optimally’ specced for this particular boss, lets cheese the F*** out of it and get some ez loot”

later that day on WoWClassicForums, the Raid leader made a post:
Raid leader: “OMGH BLIZZARD THIS GAME IS TOO EASY EVEN IN ITS PRE-NERF STATE, WHAT THE **** WERE YOU THINKING WHEN YOU DESIGNED THIS BABY GAME FOR ZOOMERS?! WHERE IS THE CHALLENGE MAN?! I WAS EXPECTING NOSTALGIA AND HARDSHIP BUT MY RAID LITERALLY ONE SHOTS EVERY BOSS IN BLACK TEMPLE EVEN WITH PUGS”

  • what will happen if we get dual spec.

2 out of 3 tanks are doing pvp outside of raids so they don’t have damage spec they have pvp arena spec.

Every priest healer has a 2nd pvp healer spec or pvp shadow spec.

Ferals and enhancers have no +healing gear nor talent, elem and boomkin tries to heal in spell damage gear.

Proceed to wipe because they have no tanks and besides the one resto druid and the two resto shaman healer all others have no gear to keep up with mana and go oom.

How about this one then:

Guy: “LF guild”
Guild Officer: “oh we’re actually looking for your [class] right now, whats your specs?”
Guy: “hey! thanks for contacting me, i’ve been struggling these past 3 days trying to find a guild that will have me!”
Guild Officer: “…Specs pls?”
Guy: “well i am currently just pvping since i haven’t been able to find a guild yet, but i am [dps spec] and trying my best to get rep for heroic dungeons so i can start raiding asap!”
Guild Officer: “alright that sounds tolerable! now, whats your 2nd spec?”
Guy: “…2nd spec? i haven’t got dual spec yet m8, i just started fresh for TBC, so i can’t afford it yet, and i wanna get my flying mount first”
Guild Officer: “oh, that’s too bad, i guess we’ll have to decline then”
Guy: “wait, hold on, what if i postpone my flying mount and get my 2nd spec as [healer spec] asap? will i then be able to join?”
Guild Officer: “…actually, i was hoping you would use your 2nd spec for [tank spec] since we’re already filled to the brim with healers whose second spec is dps”
Guy: “but i don’t really enjoy tanking… how about if i switch to healer + tank spec and give up dps and then just offtank every now and then when we’re out of options?”
Guild Officer: “Nah sorry m8, that’s not min/max-ey enough for our hardcore schedule, sorry but i have to decline then”

i mean, you get the drift here despite its lack of realistic requirements from “guy” right?.. its called gatekeeping, and if people have 2 specs, there will be less need for more players to fill particular roles in a raid, because player A can just do both rather than bringing player B for that particular role, and before you know it, people are being pushed to play certain specs (and of course both with the intent to do PvE, you can still do pvp but you have to respec in your own time for that)

wanna be a Boomkin and do pvp when there’s raid downtime? too bad, raid needs you to be Resto/Feral. you can go boomkin for pvp at your leisure, but you’ll have to spec back to Resto/Feral in time for raid every week.

i love how you assume people only have 1 set of gear lmao… which btw. also presents an entirely new issue in the form of competition for loot.
“but i need this for my healing spec”
“right but that’s your OFFSPEC right?”
“what do you mean? there’s no such thing as offspec you pleb.”
YOINK

you’re just mega cringe man. Its not like dual spec was never introduced. It was in WOTLK and guess what? Non of sh*t u’re talking about happen back than. Peps just could PVP and PVE at same time.

then wait for WOTLK for your precious dual spec, because it wasn’t a thing in TBC.
The End.

So it would be better to kick the 3rd tank from the raid and invite another dps. When you don’t need 3 tanks. Right?
