Not to mention Gathermate has a shared database filled by all users that allow to see all nodes, herbs, treasures and fish pools.
Its been broken for a month already since they broke census+
Ok then lets ban every addon that gives too much information then. Gathermate? I have all the nodes and herbs that exist on the map without even gathering them. Questie? Guidelime? Literally this addon has an arrow on the top of your screen telling you where to quest. Fishing buddy maybe? What about boss mods? Castbars? you cant fake HS anymore. What you guys want banned cause its inconvenient somehow for you? The only change i would make to Spy is remove the stealth alert
Have you done any raid vs raid pvp?
Spy is too powerful. That’s an uncontested fact that every raid pvper will instantly agree with.
Either ban every addon or none (ui addons are an exception imo)
I’m all for Spy staying and have no problem with it - but Cherilee is right. Spy does ping incessantly when I’m grinding under a flight path.
Why would it get banned?? There was a similar addon in vanilla called “KoS list” or something… Deal with it. Also this guy is trying make out it shows where stealthed players are. He is a liar.
It tells you if somebody stealthed NEAR you, which you can also hear anyway… That part just helps deaf people.
Welcome to the Vanilla experience. If it was in vanilla, shhh about bans. If you are having problems ganking thats a “You are terrible problem”.
You cant possibly know if they have spy and are just crying because you mad and bad.
If the Add0n actually does what the thread-creator says it does, then YES it should be banned and removed from existence! Why do people always have to cheat? It is saddening!
It was in vanilla and never banned, roll pve server thx.
Can we please have the retail people who never played vanilla yet call for bans, banned from classic, Blizz?.
Every pvper from Vanilla will remember a little red box on their screen listing anyone that got near them from opposing faction.
Its anti-rogue addon. Isn’t it great? It is.
The president of the company who makes this game didn’t have the sense to listen to his audience and didn’t have the smarts to realise what a popular and profitable game this would be. That’s the president. Unfortunately expecting them to be on the ball with stuff like this is expecting too much.
The addon is ridiculous and shouldn’t have even been allowed from the start.
Never, its been in the game probably longer than you have.
This addon turns human’s percreption on the next level actually.
Running human lock with fellhunter and glasses, see information, pop perception > detect little undead rat from 100 yards.
Maybe reduce the meters that combatlog receives information and post them not about damage abilities but about lets say someone get stealth or use an ability on themselves.
/target “player name”
Targeting players through it is irrelevant.
No, you can’t.
Probably it did not get any attention because it was not used, just as anything that got nerf only after it was known about by a large chunk of people.
In other games this is called radar or wall hack. Which is bannable offense. But since it’s Blizzard all cheats are allowed
Wrong. Is doesn’t detect the position of the enemy. It only “listens” to the noise they make. It doesn’t even give the direction of that noise.
If you want the “roleplay” version of the addon’s function:
You’re in STV, in the jungle, and suddenly, you hear someone cast a specific spell in hearing range. That’s what the addon does.
This addon does need to be banned, or changes made to the combat log so it is not as effective. It might be using information already available to the player, but it’s using it in a way that it was never intended to be used, and is not within the spirit of an open world PvP game. I am absolutely certain when the devs created the combat log they didn’t do it with any intention for it to be used as a radar. They just didn’t give any thought to an addon being created that uses it, and set the radius at which it records actions much too high.
The simple fix to this is to reduce the radius at which the combat log records an action.
