I wonder how many players really inspect combat log for stealth alets without spy addon ? I believe noone. Thus defence “it shows in combat log” is pretty meh.
Then you are a blue pilled beta
I noticed it had an update yesterday where it now shows cloaked players as well nearby. Had it pop opp several times yesterday and i look around not seeing anyone…so yeah, it gives huge advantage. Especially towards rogues.
How does it work? Just because somebody is nearby it dosent say so in your combat log right? I dont get how the addon retrives that data from the combat log.
I have 0 issues playing without addons. So yes I dont care if everything would be gone. Addons are for lazy people who dont want to put any effort into the game.
Nope is does NOT detect stealthed players.
It clearly said “Stealthed enemy player level 56 Rogue detected”. And i had no idea he was around until it blipped about it. As a Warrior i just immediatly popped perception and got ready in correct stance. How is that fair?
That is pure gold. The addon does not say anything. You get 2 types of sound notifications. One for an enemy an player and another for stealth being used.
In both cases, the addon does not even tell you anything but the player’s class. It doesn’t show the level of the player either, until you target it. (It just puts a 1+ to 30+ level range)
I’m pretty sure at that point you are just making stuff up.
Uhm that message is clearly from the addon itself. Im gonna take screenshot. at work now but i will reply later.
It even says in the FAQ:
Know when enemy players use stealth capabilities
Spy will warn and sound a specific alert when it detects that an enemy player is using stealth. You should no longer be surprised by rogues or druids in the area but attacks from stealth could still be deadly.
Yes it does say!
“Spy will warn and sound a specific alert when it detects that an enemy player is using stealth”
So when somebody uses stealth or when you detect stealthed player. It doesn’t find players that get into range already stealthed.
That is true but the range on this thing is huge. So a rogue would had to prepare his stealth run from quite the distance. And the point beeing, this thing has already warned me of enough rogues already that it gives huge benefits. I would never have seen them if it hadnt been for this addon
60 yards. 1.5x the range of a hunter.
but does combat log allow you to target players? i used spy and yes it is a cheat, one time some smart warrior was hiding behind a thick tree trying to ambush me when i get close but nope i already know he existed from 2000 yards away and worst i can target him and start casting using the spy, i seen some lvl 60 hunter just target people in the spy and send their pet after them that how he was ganking lowbies, he doesn’t even need to see them or know their location all he have to do is press their name in Spy and send pet attacking which is broken. you can’t hide anywhere everyone know you are there and everyone can target you.
Its been used by thousands of people on pvp realms for years.
Anybody who wpvped had it, the only people who didnt were cannon fodder.
I’m far more concerned with this butchered attempt at spellbatching staying in the game than spy.
Spy has some effects on the game. But nothing as gamebreaking as this pretend batching. Batching alone have rendered vanish near useless. People attacking you in the middle of cc chains. It’s messed up beyond belief.
lol yes I can, and you can too. try it out. go to the horde flight point in felwood and do mind vision on ppl in your spy. you will notice that some of them are in jadenar… i did it and it works
hopefully soon what a noob addon
well it doesn’t distinguish between horde and alliance stealthed - it just says someone is stealthed - and tells you names of alliance players nearby. If there is no alliance nearby then the stealth was likely horde - but it shows up both as both show up in the combat log.
Addin isn’t massively useful in brd/ubrs . We always used to MC alliance into the Lava anyway as priests in Vanilla. Nothing is different.
They’re beyond the range to do anything useful there though - I mean there is a big wall between you and alliance and anyone who is in ‘targettable range’ would show in the combat log which is 30/40yds (there might be further reach in combat log - if so someone probably already mentioned it. but as you don’t have line of sight into jadenaar you can’t really do much from BVP
