Why Hunters Should Never Roll vs a Rogue on Shadowcraft Set Items

Yeah, glancing…
But you know hit?
As in you will still see misses.

Yes, some of your white attacks will still miss.

Yes, weapon skill grants additional +hit.

considering making your own group with item reservation if you don’t want people to roll on items that you feel are entitled to more so than others.

No, weapon skill does not give +hit.

I agree with OP. It is super annoying when huntards think that it is better for them. They have their own set items that they should be rolling on. That is why I rarely invite huntards to groups.

Additional weapon skill reduces your chance to miss therefore causing you to need less +hit to PvE cap.

You are arguing semantics.

Additional weapon skill makes it less likely for your hits to be dodged, parried or blocked and less likely to be a glancing blow.
It does nothing for your hit-cap.
Trust me.

So WHAT?

Just because it’s a BIGGER upgrade for you compared to other people, doesn’t mean it’s NOT an upgrade for THEM.

You are NOT entitled to this gear.

QUOTE BLUE POST

There are a lot of questions seeking additional clarification in this thread, and while we’re not going to dig too deep into everything asked here, we did want to take a quick moment to highlight this comment and our findings around it in particular. In the days following our original post, we did an even deeper deep dive into combat, focusing on max level characters with various races, classes, talents and gear added to the equation. In doing so we discovered something very interesting:

There is some code in 1.12 that explicitly adds a modifier that causes the first 1% of +hit gained from talents or gear to be ignored against monsters with more than 10 Defense Skill above the attacking player’s Weapon Skill.

This means that the so-called “hit cap” is in effect 9% rather than 8% for a player with 300 Weapon Skill fighting a level 63 monster with a Defense Skill of 315. With a Weapon Skill of 305, such as from Sword Specialization (Humans) or Axe Specialization (Orcs), this hit modifier is no longer in place against +3 level monsters, provided that you are using the appropriate weapon type to gain the passive bonus. Needless to say, this makes +Weapon Skill very good against raid-level monsters.

This code is already fully present in the WoW Classic client, and this will continue to function exactly as it did in the original game.

Thanks everyone in this thread for their interest in this topic. It’s this kind of discussion and attention to detail that makes this project so incredibly fun to be a part of

Blizzard has confirmed that the hit cap in Classic WoW is effectively 9% for a player with 300 Weapon Skill, fighting a level 63 monster with a Defense Skill of 315. A few days ago, they wrote a post [stating it was 8% but have now clarified it should be 9% in 1.12 instead. This will affect BiS setups players were creating, as reaching hit cap is very important.

The post details why Weapon Skill is incredibly powerful against raid bosses, and you can search by skill type in our Item Database to find relevant armor and weapons Edgemaster’s Handguards and Aged Core Leather Gloves.

Additional weapon skill reduces your chance to miss. End of discussion.

So a Warr can roll need on BiS and Pre BiS cloth/leather for mages, locks, priest, resto druids, etc cz they can wear it. NICE

If it’s an UPGRADE, why not?

Holy paladins walk in cloth because it’s better, why would it be any different for other classes?

Writing in caps just make you look more like you just complaining and crying cause u want all for yourself. If you want someone to take your posts seriously you should stop that

The insinuation that my post shouldn’t be taken seriously, despite containing math and links to a spreadsheet, because you do not like my use of caps, is not an argument.

Welcome to the forum, let’s pick out one part of the sentence and use that.

How about you read the entire post instead of looking like a fool.
If you missied I’ll say it again.

If you can use it and it’s an upgrade.
See the last part there?

I for one am glad not to have encountered some of the many people from this thread in my dungeons. Sure, he may not be entitled to the gear, but it is still a douche move to need on his pre-bis if it’s not yours and you’re going to replace it within a day or two. Like, have some common decency. No one will add you to their friends’ list or want to invite you back if you do that. It’s a complete waste of good loot.

I can’t count the number of times that I’ve passed on intellect gear because it was better for some Mage or Warlock than for myself. Similarily, they have passed on gear that was better for myself than for them since I showed them that courtesy. Yes, even when they were complete randoms. Perhaps it’s just because we have a good mood and chat a fair deal in the groups that I’m in, but I’ve never encountered anyone needing on BoE’s for greed when someone needed it for their main spec either.

It’s always a good to establish who needs what before you start running an instance though. Especially if you’re only after one or two items then you can go okay, you can have X while I get Y. Also establishing how the party should roll on various things before you’re in the situation, so that no one gets confused, frustrated or mad.

You might be right but the whole argument loses strength with you making it all personal.

It’s just loot. Most of it is inevitable.

This is the proper attitude to have, as a warrior I’ve passed on plenty of drops that were technically an upgrade. The posters ITT calling OP entitled and retail-minded are the same people who would throw a fit if I needed on Gilnid’s ring over them.

That kind of loot drama is meaningless considering raids are cleared in greens. Roll on everything you want people, don’t listen to this guy.
