I’d like to share my experience with you all today.
Today I went to turn in the WoW Anniversary quest in CoT in wm as a 16 years in a row Alliance player on Arathi (FR).
The situation was… almost scarily unfair. I counted over 100 horde players farming Alliance and spawn-killing the entire time I was there. We formed two full raid groups and couldn’t even the score because of all the spawn-killing. And since one does not simply coordinate two full pick-up raids to respawn at the same time and converge on a distant point to regroup and heal up, I decided to quit the group, jump into the nearest dungeon, HS and disable WM (with shame, don’t worry.)
Coming back I expected to see plethora of disheartened Alliance players and yet we were STILL vastly outnumbered by the Horde out of WM. I’d like to add that, as far as I know, we weren’t facing organized pvp groups from other servers or anything, just regular world PvP showing its true colours when you try and gather both factions in one place.
I’m not here to jab at Horde players, to each their own, but I’m wondering if the crushing numbers of Horde players will ever be adressed, and if so, how?
There’s the all too classic “make switching factions free for a time” and I for one believe it would be a big, deep breath of relief for the Alliance for a time, but this solution is bound to bring its own set of troubles and unfairness.
There’s also people advocating for cross-faction play and while that would definitely solve PvE issues, it would murder world-pvp, general PvP, and would take an immense amount of creative writing to have that fit in the current lore and gameplay.
Has there ever been any post, any reply, any topic from Blizzard about faction imbalance? Are there other ideas that could work? What do you guys and gals think?
Please be respectful and redirect any potential trolling to Twitter.

Hi
We have multiple threads about this issue, one that is currently active would be: What would make the alliance more popular?
I don’t think the issue will be solved any time soon, sadly. I learned to live with it. We just can’t force players to reroll Alliance, right? Would also be unfair if we did.
Why do people even play with WM on anymore. The Rewards aren’t worth the headache.

Nothing can truly work, at the end of the day one faction regardless of which will end up leading in popularity, we as players want to congregate with a majority to make our lives easier.
Even if they swayed it towards the alliance, it’d just reverse the current situation over time realistically because the perceived most popular will simply end up becoming the most popular.
The faction doesn’t work because of this.
They can open free transfers to the alliance, but this would either get 0 attention. Or once guilds did start moving players will simply swap with them… which would likely bleed the horde faction.
The true fix is simply a removal of faction devide in PvE content. WoW has never been balanced in factions. But the disparity isn’t as well seen among a 10 million population game as it is today.

I have warmode on because i like occasional spontaneous world pvp far more than instanced pvp or just collect 10 bear butts.

That is exactly what traditional PVP servers accomplished.
Warmode encourages groups to gank and camp individuals.
I played on PVP servers back when they were a thing, and I gave Warmode a good year but these days I can’t stand it. 90% of the encounters are one sided.

you turn wm on, then complain when people kill you? You don’t get extra rewards for free you know? Go turn wm off and get on with your day

Funny when I logged in and went to the Caverns of Time an Alliance raid party was waiting and killing everyone the moment they landed flying down on the drake.
I had to turn WM off to be able to live long enough to see the quests available.
We are placed into shards, it’s pot luck which faction is dominating it.

What of world pvp then? Either everyone disables WM because cross-faction PvE is a thing and there’s no need to fight each other anymore, or people keep playing the same in the outdoors (while raiding with the other faction) and the situation remains basically identical.
It’s true though that we can’t just make the Alliance so much more appealing that big guilds swap over and the Horde gets the stick for the next decade.
Yes, that what we all hoped for when we turned Warmode on originally. Unfortunately those experiences are far outweighed by the constant ganking from Raids full of players (or multi boxers) farming an area. Not fun, /warmode off.
I wish more people understood this.
I hate Nazjatar purely because of how often I’d get phased into an Alliance dominated shard. I’d zone in and there would be Alliance in the Horde camp and I’d be playing with like 5 FPS because of it.
I didn’t think to turn Warmode off until closer to 8.3 because I was so used to PVP servers. Finally started to enjoy the world content knowing a DH and Druid wasn’t about to drop from the sky and start ganking me 2v1.
I have lottsa fun in WM, don’t see the issue people have with it.

Yes its starting to get to a point for me too turning warmode off even on AD its sometimes really annoying when you go through portal and the other side there is full 40 man l33t pvp hero group showing their skills killing people who’s loading screen is still going on.
Only real reason i still have WM on is that classes like shadow priest is unplayable imo without some pvp talents.
On horde side it doesn’t worth it but on the alliance side you have like 30% extra.
exactly. without warmode classes feel HALF DONE, lacking.

here before the blood elf brigade spamming
‘‘but theres 51% horde 49% alliance according to this statistic of 2017’’
